Susquehanna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram responded

Susquehanna Jeep takes customer satisfaction very seriously but, in this case, we are not able to provide the customer with an explanation that they were satisfied with even though the tire condition is normal and justifiable. Vehicle manufacturers and tire manufacturers place a variety of colored dots on the lower sidewall. These dots are intended to guide technicians when positioning the tire of the rim during the mounting process. Since it is very hard to make a tire that is perfectly balanced, some tire manufacturers or vehicle manufacturers place small colored dots to indicate where the tire's lightest point is. This helps technicians properly mount and balance the tire on the wheel to reduce vibrations and improve overall performance. Although the markings are intentionally made to survive the manufacturing process and beyond, over time you can expect the marking to fade and discolor by absorbing the black rubber of which the tires are produced. As the customer noted themselves, other Jeeps on the lot have the markings. Since different makes and models use different brand tires, and since those vehicle manufacturers might have different requirements of the tire manufacturer, it will be tricky to find consistent markings from vehicle to vehicle. However, if you identify the same vehicle brand, same model, and same wheel/suspension, and finally, the same tire, you can expect to see the same markings. To confirm the information above, all you need to do is google "dots on new tires" and you will find a lot of information. Here is a link to a good article from Tire Business that discusses the markings: https://www.tirebusiness.com/article/20070813/NEWS/308139989/are-you-seeing-dots-those-color-coded-sidewall-markings-serve-a-purpose We apologize that our Sales staff wasn't able to provide this information when the vehicle was brought back to the dealership. This is a not a complaint we received in the past but will ensure all Sales staff understand the purpose of the manufacturer's markings moving forward. Although removing the dots can be initially difficult, the good news for this customer is that they will quickly become less noticeable. Because the condition that the customer is concerned about is a normal condition, Susquehanna Jeep will take no further action. We hope that the customer can review some of the information provided and, with that education, become more comfortable with the situation.

The fact that when questioned to the staff they played ‘stupid’ with regard to the “blue dots’ along with them ‘hiding’ the dots by using tire shine . The spare tire is damaged by the excessive running from the staff trying to remove either dots or sticker. Either way the dealership masked the tire condition which I feel is very deceptive.
