Have gone here for service since 2007. Always treated well, all work accomplished first time, and always reasonable. Great place to do business in the valley. well, all work accomplished first time, and always reasonable. Great place to do business in the valley. More
The Subaru Sherman Oaks service department--and Peter Diaz in particular--are consistently great to deal with and took excellent care of our WRX. We didn't even consider any other dealership when recent Diaz in particular--are consistently great to deal with and took excellent care of our WRX. We didn't even consider any other dealership when recently purchasing our new Forester from Helen Truc, who made the experience a very positive one. We highly recommend Subaru Sherman Oaks! More

Great, efficient service. These guys get it. The less time your car is in their shop, the more time it is on the road advertising for Subaru. Seems like a simple concept, but this is the only shop that time your car is in their shop, the more time it is on the road advertising for Subaru. I keep going back, and will continue to go back, because the service is professional, they treat you great, have the car ready when they say they will, make accommodating appointments, answer all your questions, and charge a fair price. What more could you ask for? More

A great no haggle dealership. Prices quoted on first enagement beat most other dealership's BS. Subarus tend to go for whatever teh manufacturer gives back. I bought my 2008 WRX/STI 5 door new with MS enagement beat most other dealership's BS. Subarus tend to go for whatever teh manufacturer gives back. I bought my 2008 WRX/STI 5 door new with MSRP of $36,460 late in the model year (Oct 2008). Subaru was offering a $5,000 factory discount at the time. I bought the car for $31,500. Most other dealers I tried to work with wanted to hold on to the discount cash. Sherman Oaks dealership went stright to the factory offer. More
We have been taking our Subaru's here for the past few years and bought our previous STI from them. As one of the other reviewers noted they have engaged in some shady repair work of late. I typically alw years and bought our previous STI from them. As one of the other reviewers noted they have engaged in some shady repair work of late. I typically always take our cars in and am fairly mechanically inclined. My wife recently took her Tribeca in for the service special and they came back with a number of items including fluid changes (power steering, brake, etc) on a lightly used car with 18k miles. Typical scam pulled by many dealers - dirty fluid scenario. On top of that they took nearly 3 hours to do an oil change while my wife was waiting with our 3 year old. She was not happy with me for sending her in or the dealer for making her wait so long. In general appointments don't seem to make any difference other than getting your car in - you will be waiting a long time. On my last visit there was a guy stuck in the exact same scenario - had been waiting almost 3 hours for an oil change - he was not thrilled. We used the body shop for a minor repair on the Tribeca as well. Work was decent, but they don't follow up at all to keep you up to date on the status of the car. Even when we showed up the car was supposed to be ready, but it was sitting outside and filthy. We waited an hour while they scrambled to clean it. The pick up appointment was made 3 days before coming in - we didn't show up out of the blue. The are a few positives. The parts guys have always been really helpful and consistent. You might be able to find better prices on line - however they do try to work with you. When I bought an exhaust for the new STI it wouldn't fit in the car due to box size and one of the guys ran it home for me. Would give this team a 5 star rating. Second is that my purchase experience was very positive - in 2008. The two Subaru purchases since then were made at other dealers because of model availability - not sure how the purchase experience is now. We make all of our purchases through the internet sales rather than deal with negotiating in person. Lastly, Peter is has been pretty consistent at giving good service. I didn't put his name on top as when we deal with him he generally does a good job and didn't want to give him a bad rap compared to the others. We only go here because it is 4 miles from the house. We previously used Santa Monica Subaru and always had positive service experiences with them. If you have another dealer close by I would go there. If you just need an oil change go to SOSubaru and be prepared to wait and for the upsell. More
Lately, I am disappointed by the lack of attention to detail and expertise the mechanics have to offer. I recently took my car for an oil change special, so the service also includes multi-point vehicle detail and expertise the mechanics have to offer. I recently took my car for an oil change special, so the service also includes multi-point vehicle inspection. The service advisor told me that my car needed new rear brakes as well as fixes to the front axle (leaking some fluid) AND new valve cover gasket AND PCV valves, which allegedly leaked as well. I remembered having all of these done within the past year, so I told him to have the mechanic double-check whether these are indeed necessary fixes. Sure enough, he came back and told me that the mechanic THOUGHT the leak was recent... it was actually from the previous leak that I ALREADY had done last year, and they just didn't bother cleaning it up. He told me that my car still needed new rear brakes. So I went to the mechanic who replaced my rear brakes for a second opinion, since I find it hard to believe that drum brakes would only last for 13K miles. Again, sure enough, this mechanic showed me the new and existing drum brakes... BARELY ANY DIFFERENCE, so I don't have to have them replaced. Should I then conclude that this dealer is getting worse? The answer is yes. I've been going to this dealer, pretty much since I bought my car 9 years ago, and I used to have a more pleasant experience. Do I think the dealer is lying to my face to make some quick $ by telling me my brakes need attention? I don't believe so, but I do believe that either they need more meticulous mechanics, or they need to retrain the existing ones. More
