My view of car salespeople has undergone a complete change. Prior to dealing with Peggy Witkowski, at Town Subaru, I thought that car salespeople’s reputation for being “shady” was true. But I have l change. Prior to dealing with Peggy Witkowski, at Town Subaru, I thought that car salespeople’s reputation for being “shady” was true. But I have learned as with all industries/people you cannot prejudge based upon a stereotype. I have never owned a car and have driven only a handful of times in the last 20 years. But my brother decided that it was time that I had a car, especially before the next winter hit. My brother did research to determine that the Subaru Impreza would be a great first car for me. The price and the 4 wheel drive were the top two factors and the small size was the clincher. We started calling different Subaru dealers in my area of NJ. Unfortunately, all the dealers that I spoke with only confirmed my preconception. None answered any of my questions about the National promotion and all of them refused to “run the numbers” so that I could see exactly what the monthly payments would be. It seemed that they were only interested in getting me in to sign a deal. Since my sister had been in the car industry, I knew that they could run the numbers so I did not understand why these dealers would not do so until I was in the office. Although I did not feel that they were trustworthy, I made arrangements to go to a local dealer and finalize the lease before the promotion ended. The night before I decided to call one more dealer and Peggy Witkowski answered the phone. She spent over 30 minutes with me on my initial call. She ran the numbers for me and explained in detail the national promotion. Unlike the other dealers she informed me that the low lease rate applied to manual transmission and not an automatic; for 10,000 miles/year (opposed to the 12,000 the prior dealers quoted); she broke down what the fees (about $2,000) were for and unlike the prior dealer let me know that this was not considered the down payment. Peggy was amazing throughout the whole process. She would return calls immediately, she sat there and spoke to my brother and I numerous times making sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. She even offered to pick me up on the day we were signing the papers, which none of the other dealers even suggested. When I went in to sign the contract, everything was ready and it did not take long at all. The price I was quoted was exactly what I received. She even spent almost an hour going over the car and all its features, she set up my Bluetooth; even changed my cell phone ringer and even offered to show me how to get home by following her car!! I knew that she was leaving for vacation the next day and could not believe everything she did for me. I received the same courtesy and professionalism when I went to get my plates. Peggy drove my car to the service bay and had them put on the car, just because I had been a little rattled from my earlier drive. The customer service, friendliness, quality of work, price were all beyond great and all because of Peggy. My next purchase will definitely be through her, regardless of the dealer she works with!! Mike Restivo was also very easy to deal with as he went over the details and options for service coverage and extended warranty packages. He never pressured me into signing anything on the spot. Instead, he went over the most minute of details, presenting me with different choices that would allow me to make the most well-informed decision. I went in with a price and features goal for a new car, and shared only the features needed with Peter there at first. I found that soo stressful for a first time car buyer. I mean first of all why would they post an option to request for a internet price for online buyers like me and ending up with no clue.
