I recently bought a new Impreza from an out-of-state dealer. It was an Internet sale and they delivered it to me, as I live about 2 hours away from that dealership. The sale had a few hiccups but overall went pretty smoothly. This is my third Impreza. I am retired and have experience with sales & service at several dealers, as I travel a lot. In the past year, I have been unhappy with the process some dealers were using to inform me of service that should be done in the upcoming months. Specifically, one dealer told me on two occasions that my car was "OK." When I asked for more detail so I could budget for repairs, he gave me a free car wash. The purpose of my visit to Subaru of Columbia was to find out how their service department alerted customers of repairs & maintenance that should be done in the near future. I was very impressed with their response. Both Assistant Manager Nan Schauer and Service Advisor River Hopkins took the time to sit down & talk with me and to gain an understanding of what I was looking for in a dealer service operation. Both of them gave me their business cards without my asking. (Unusual these days!) Nan told me that they have automated the Multi-Point Inspection Form but always give it to customers at the end of the service visit. She even gave me a blank form to take with me & walked me through how it would look if some aspect of my car (i.e. the tires) would be needing service in the near future. This was exactly what I hoped is Subaru of Columbia's policy, as I like to budget for upcoming repairs and get them scheduled. I didn't answer several of the questions in this survey as I didn't get service done there. This was a get-acquainted visit for the three of us. It went well and we even chatted a bit about our kids. More
