We had a very unpleasant experience purchasing a used Forester through Stamford Subaru's used car department. There are only two reasons why we're not giving them zero stars. (1) The Forester we bought was a good deal, and (2) the salesmen Aki and George tried their best to help us and made an effort to provide good customer service. We traveled from over 3 hours away (out of state) to purchase the car. We called to set everything up on a Saturday, in order to pick up on a Sunday. We were told everything must be worked out in advance, because NO changes could be made on a Sunday (naturally, as banks are closed and staff was limited). We were told everything would be ready for us to sign and drive home. We worked primarily with the finance manager Brad Yardis over the phone and text message in order to work out the details and get everything ready for us upon arrival. Brad processed our credit application and financing, but gave us minimal information, was difficult to communicate with, and was later stiff and unapologetic for his actions. When we asked him questions, we didn't always get clear answers, or even answers to what we were asking for. Brad also did not follow through on requests that he agreed to (emailing us copies of forms to review before we drove 3 hours), leaving us to trust that the agreement would be what we discussed through text message and phone calls. Needless to say, when we arrived the next day (after driving 3 hours), ALL of our paperwork was incorrect, with wrong addresses, wrong loan terms and nothing could be fixed. We were presented with an agreement that we did not agree on. We felt completely conned and beyond frustrated. The two salesman (George and Aki) at the dealership were not able to fix any of the paperwork, but were sincere in their actions in trying to resolve the issue, and did whatever they could to make it right and let us drive the car home. We eventually worked out an alternate agreement, which allowed us to correct the paperwork afterward and take the car home. We're thankful for their help. Brad however never said anything regarding his mistakes and made no attempt what so ever to make it right on his behalf. This leaves us annoyed and belittled. We also spoke to the used car manager Bobby John a few times, who was just outright rude and dishonest. He tried to tell us that we agreed on a trade-in price that we in fact did not at all agree on, or even mention in previous conversation. He cut me off several times while speaking and I don't recommend working with him after how he spoke to us. Although we're very happy with our Forester and feel it was worth the trip, we can't say the same about the dealership practices. The experience with Brad Yardis and Bobby John made us feel very uncomfortable doing business with Stamford Subaru. More

I had been communicating with several dealers in the CT area, haggling back and forth over prices/options. When I spoke with Subaru Stamford, I got the best price right away, giving me a better price than other dealers and with a couple of extra options on top of it. I went in to sign the paperwork and everything was simple and straight forward. Finally, when it came to getting some extras such as warranties and Starlink, the options were presented to me clearly and there was absolutely no pressure for me to purchase these items. They were simply presented to me as options rather than a necessary component. The sales people and finance people were all very friendly and personable. I don't buy cars often, but my experience at Subaru Stamford means I will definitely be calling them first on future car purchases. Thanks again! More

Phenomenal Service! Overall, I had a very pleasant at Subaru Stamford. Jon, the manager, was so informative and courteous during our initial meeting and thereafter. Jeremiah then took over the actual sale of the vehicle along with the new car run through and paperwork and handled it seamlessly. Although my insurance agent took a bit longer than expected to pull through, both Jon and Jeremiah were patient and repeatedly inquired to assist in any way they could. I would (and already have) highly recommend(ed) family and friends to shop with Subaru Stamford and more specifically connect with Jon and Jeremiah to meet all of their car shopping needs. It can be a very stressful time for most people when looking for the right vehicle to invest in; I left the dealership with my brand new car and best of all, the confidence that I made an well informed purchase. We had called Jeremiah, mid-morning, to inquire about a vehicle on the website - by 3:30pm, that same day, we drove away in the car! The next day brought it back because coolant was busting out and the engine was overheating. I was told they don't see a problem or any leaks and added more coolant. Come to find I have a failed head gasket due to their negligence and or abusive test driving. ***I have never had one issue with my engine and I find it very very hard to believe it is coincidence. They 100% did something wrong*** The service manager (Anthony) did not even say he will look into it, he just denied they did anything wrong. UNREAL!!! ***STAY AWAY*** More

Here's a few reasons why I would recommend that you stay away too Buying a car from Subaru of Stamford was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. Here's a few reasons why I would recommend that you stay away too: 1) They pass you off a bunch of times during the buying process, without telling you why you're being directed to someone else or what that person does. It doesn't leave you with the feeling that you're being taken care of. 2) The staff is rude and unaccommodating. Their computers shut down for two days (over Black Friday 2015). I had to take a full day off of work to pick it up, because they didn't make any accommodations for me to purchase the car at an "off" hour. 3) They are engaged in false advertising practices within their service department (the signs in the service area don't match the bill, and the owner told me he didn't care)! 4) The car has proven to be somewhat flimsy. My tire popped within two seconds when it went over the side grate on the highway (to avoid someone who was cutting me off). Subaru wouldn't cover it, of course. I will probably never buy another Subaru, but I will NEVER go to Subaru of Stamford again. STAY AWAY. More
Just picked up my 4th and 5th Subaru from them within a week I was so happy leasing my 4th car from them, that I went back the following week and bought my 5th Subaru from them. Years ago we had leased an Imprez I was so happy leasing my 4th car from them, that I went back the following week and bought my 5th Subaru from them. Years ago we had leased an Impreza that we loved, that led to the Legacy for the next one, then we moved up to the Outback. I just picked up my 2nd outback a few weeks ago...the process was so painless and (dare I say it) FUN...that we decided to buy our 5th Subaru (a new Impreza) a week later! We are always treated fairly and with respect. My wife and I find the service department to be very good. She will drop off the car for service and head over to City Limits Diner for some coffee or lunch. Fair pricing, treated with respect, solid service department....and 5 transactions later I can't imagine going anywhere else. Thank you Subaru of Stamford! More
