We had a bad experience at Stokes VW. We had chosen an SUV to purchase. We liked the car, had agreed on a price, and had requested that a few repairs be done, i.e. repair a broken tail light, do a front SUV to purchase. We liked the car, had agreed on a price, and had requested that a few repairs be done, i.e. repair a broken tail light, do a front end alignment, repair a ripped seat and repair a non-working keyless entry. Robbie told us, after conferring with his sales manager, that it shouldn't be a problem, but that he would have to let us know on Monday if the repairs could be made. We made it clear that we were interested in purchasing the vehicle if the repairs could be made. We received a phone call from Robbie later that same day telling us that a couple from Columbia were driving down to look at the car. He at that point told us for the first time that we would need a deposit to hold the car. I told him that we would be willing to do that, as long as we would receive the deposit back if the repairs could not be made. He told me that he would have to talk with his sales manager, and that he would call me right back. He called back after the vehicle had been shown to the other couple, and said that they wanted the same repairs done as we did. He said he would call us back regarding the repairs Monday morning. No other mention of the deposit was made. Monday afternoon I received a phone call from Robbie telling me that the car had been sold to someone else by another salesman. He was apologetic. I then asked to speak with the sales manager, who's tone was very unapologetic. He said that we should have put down a deposit and that they were "in the business to sell cars". We felt like we were not shown the common courtesy expected from any business transaction. We had implicitly expressed our interest, yet they sold the car right out from under us. We understand that they are in business to make money; however, they could have handled the situation with more consideration and tact. More

I just bought a 2010 Jetta. Robbie Chinn, the salesman, was friendly and helpful, and not remotely pushy. He did a good job of explaining the safety and performance features of the vehicle. I just bought my first car, a 2010 VW Golf. I spent a lot of time researching cars online before going out to look at the dealership. I first stopped at Low Country VW in Mt P. I knew exactly what car I wanted, and knew that the dealer probably wouldn't have the car I was looking for available on the lot. (there aren't a lot of stick shifts in Charleston, I guess). The salesman at Low Country VW wasn't very helpful, and spent most of his time trying to sell me the Automatic Golf TDI they had on the lot. Then when I inquired about bringing a car in from elsewhere he seemed even less interested in helping me out. He said he would try and call around and let me know in a few days if he could find what I was looking for. After I left I decided I would make the trip out to N. Charleston to go to Stokes VW. It certainly paid off! As soon as I pulled in I was greeted by a friendly salesman, Robbie. He was really helpful, and not pushy at all. They didn't have the car I wanted on site either, but I told Robbie exactly what I was looking for and went and ran a search right then to find it for me. Everything else about the dealership was great too, everyone was very nice and helpful. I was able to get the exact car I wanted for a good price with a great warranty. If you are in the market for a VW, I would highly recommend going to see Robbie at Stokes VW! More
Mr. Chinn was very knowledgeable about the vehicle we were considering: the VW Eos, but that quality was only one of several that made the experience pleasant. He has a manner about him that is very disarming; we felt comfortable with him from the beginning. He was polite, professional and accommodating. The test drive was fun with him! But by far the most attractive of his personality attributes is that he is low-pressure. If only more salesmen realized that people don't want to be strong-armed or manipulated. Customers want to have a pleasant experience in which they feel good about the entire process, from the shopping, to the signing, to the servicing. We just want to feel we've made a good decision, and have our interaction with a dealership reinforce that belief. I'm sure those who purchase from Robbie would say he is successful at delivering that very thing. If the car were longer (with more leg room in the back seat), we'd probably be driving one today. It would have been a pleasure buying from him, and we will keep the dealership, and Mr. Chinn, in mind when we are in the car market again. More

He was also very patient as he stayed consideribly late to make sure that I was squared away without even a hint of being annoyed. I would recommend this store and salesman to anyone I know who might be in the market for buying a new or used vehicle. The finance department was also very fourthcoming and honest in any negotiation and provided me with great service as well. I feel that I was treated very respectfully. More
