Before deciding on a Hyundai we considered all other manufactures SUV’s (that sold for under $60,000) that could tow 5000 pounds and unlike those vehicles the basic Santa Fe Hyundai package comes with an extensive set of features that are extra on the other manufactures cars. We spoke to Manny and we were negotiating prices. Manny was professional and helped get us an "out the door" price. The whole experience was fine, until Manny told us that he "has excellent Yelp reviews, ask anyone, and look online". Not to be mean, but I don't care what YOUR Yelp reviews are, I'm not buying you, I'm buying the car. I just felt that it was an unnecessary and conceited comment to make to a first time car buyer, as I'm more concerned with the car and the price of it, rather than your reviews. Later that holiday weekend, I came in with my parents and we sealed the deal. I walked out as a new car owner. More
Insulting Experience Overall my experience at Stevens Creek Hyundai was very smooth until the final day when I came in to purchase my vehicle. I was very limited on time d Overall my experience at Stevens Creek Hyundai was very smooth until the final day when I came in to purchase my vehicle. I was very limited on time during this entire purchasing process so I handled all the negotiation over email and only came into the dealership once to test drive and once to pay/pick up my vehicle. All the staff I interacted with prior to financing discussions were beyond great, but unfortunately my experience starting from the financing talk caused my overall sentiment to sour. Essentially my sales representative began lying to me about why I could not qualify for the interest rate we had previously agreed upon because the co-signer on my financing deal had slightly worse credit than I did. I've financed many cars in the past and know for a fact that interest rates are dependent on the main signer, not the co-signer. He further lied and said that they ran my co-signer's credit report and found student loans on it which make it less appealing for creditors to give lower interest rates. I'm assuming he got that idea from the fact that my co-signer just graduated college, but he has never taken out any loans (for college or otherwise) and after I mentioned this, my salesman awkwardly paused and tried changing the topic. The finance manager continued this game of trying to convince us we wouldn't qualify for the lower interest rate previously agreed upon. But then, magically, we apparently could qualify for it if we agreed to prepay for some maintenance on the car. When I began to explain that I was seeing through his games, he rudely told me to "Stop talking as though you know everything, I'm the one that does here". At that point I was fed up and ready to walk out, at which point he conceded and gave us the exact price and interest rate we had agreed upon over email. This effectively admitted on his part that they were bluffing the whole time because he previously told me he wanted to give me the lower interest rate but Hyundai wasn't letting him. Therefore having officially wasted over 3 hours of my time, we finally ended up where we started. I was also extremely annoyed to find out after that they had run my credit report 4 separate times over the course of 24 hours, which is absolutely unheard of. Now I understand that as salespeople these employees are taught to try and get the best deal for the dealership, not the customer, so I cannot say I am totally surprised. Nevertheless, the level of blatant lying, making up of supposed reasons for not qualifying for interest rates, and overall disregard for my time was unparalleled by any of my previous vehicle purchasing experiences and made this whole process a nightmare. To that effect, I have already warned two friends who are intending on buying Hyundais to try other dealerships first. More
