He swore up and down that it had a clean carfax and put a lot of pressure on me and kept saying how many people wanted that car, yadda yadda yadda. So, I got access to the carfax myself and the vehicle had been in several accidents!! If this place has nothing to hide then they shouldn't be lying to potential buyers! More

This is the worst dealership to purchase from, I wish I have seen the reviews online about this place before I bought from them. After a recent car wreck of my BMW 3 series I went out looking for something have seen the reviews online about this place before I bought from them. After a recent car wreck of my BMW 3 series I went out looking for something new, a sporty car or sports sedan. I found 4 RX8’s I liked online which have 4door and double as sort of both. I went to this dealership first and test drove the car, first off they were test driving it with almost no gas in the tank (very bad for a motor). However Dave brought the car over to me and my friend was seemed very nice he also told us we could drive the car alone and gave use a route where we could open the car up. We thanked him and then went for a ride. I noticed the car idled a bit rough but nothing a tune up wouldn’t fix since it is a rotary motor and they are known for eating spark plugs, wires and coils. After we brought the car back I looked around it and really inspected it and we noticed it had a few large dings in the passenger rear quarter panel. The exhaust tips which should have been silver were black as night and the oil was a little bit low. All things a dealer should check and service before the car goes on the lot. I offered them a reasonable about and they asked me if I had my own financing I said yes I did and I was ready to take a car home today. He then said oh well hmm that about is too low we already lowered the price. I thanked Dave for his time then told him he had my contact info to give me a call or email if they changed their mind. After a few days I received an email stating they would lower the price a little if I was intersted in the car. So I called the dealer ship and asked for Dave, yet he wasn’t there, the other associate told me I could speak to him so I told him about the email had been working with Dave on this car and I would like to make an offer. He asked me the amount so I told him what I felt very very reasonable and close to their asking price, he then said “nope we won’t sell for less than price advertised” so I said ok thank you for your time. I figured Dave would call me back since it was his sale and I had been working with him on the deal. Another day went by and no calls back no return emails from Dave, I had found a few other cars that I was working a deal out with at the same time, since they were 06 models they wanted a little more then I wanted to pay but I was still will to raise my price for the right car. I had received an email from Stafford auto asking how their job was and asked why I hadn’t called back etc. So I called Dave and I told him about the phone convo the other day, he said sorry he must not have understood you correctly. I told him I would make an offer and he told me come down here and we will sell you the car. I told him I love to far away I wanted to get an offer over the phone then emailed in writing to me before I came down, he told me 2 he wouldn’t do that, I should just come down. I said if I come down and don’t get the car I won’t be back, so he said ok how much, and like I asked we made a deal over the phone. The price was more than fair as I lowered it a lot since it’s a long drive for me and this would be my second time coming down there and after the rude convos and mix-ups. I TOLD DAVE 4 times the car would be registered in MD and I needed to know if they could MD inspect it. He said no which was fine for me as I would just take it when I got home. I got down to the dealership with the exact amount plus fees taxes and tags that he quoted me, once I got there we sat down to do the paper work. I had given him all of my info needed to being the paper work over the phone, yet nothing was started when I arrived. He told me they would pull the car out of cleaning in a few minutes for me. Now while I was sitting there being helped Dave took about 9 other calls and didn’t say a word to me. An hour later he brings me the paper work to sign. He tells me this is the amount etc, I noticed on the title page my address was wrong and the state said VA I told him 4 time MD! Now he said oh I didn’t know (surprise surprise) he says well MD state tax is more so you will owe another $510.35 for the car to title it. I said I didn’t come with an extra 500 since I got a cashier’s check of the exact amount. I was very pissed then Dave told me well you can do a promissory note and just send us the money of 500.00 within 15 days. I said fine no problem as I would just go to the bank the next day and deal with it. I was mad but if it’s more tax it’s more tax right? NO since I realized he was adding the wrong amount and the price should have only been 215.00 more. He told me my other option for the tax was to title the car myself, which I said fine no problem than 2 mins later he comes back and says no we have to do it. I am frustrated it’s around 8:45pm I have my g/f and her son with me and school it tomorrow with over an hour drive to get home. We arrived at the dealer ship around 5:40pm, but due to the slow processing of the dealer ship and the paper work not to mention the 9 calls Dave took while I was sitting there waiting. Finally I had all the paper work and I was on my way home, when I went to start the car it would not start, the battery was dead, they jump started it with a booster pack. I was very angry and told the gentlemen who did it (no service rep a sales associate) that the battery was bad and it would need to be replaced he said all my mechanist are gone for the evening and I don’t have a batter to replace with. Mind you I just bought this car and got the keys and it’s not starting! Next thing I notice there is still NO gas in the car AKA empty almost to 0 gas. I asked about it then he was like oh there is a gas station next door! I was even more mad a dealer should clean and fill the car; on top of it guess what the tail pipes that were dirty before were still black as night! The car had not be freshly washed and the inside had dirt from shoes on the plastic that was there when I test drove the car, so what took them so long to bring me the car?! I guess they couldn’t start it huh!?! So we take it next door hoping the car will restart I buy gas for the car then thank god it starts up barely but it does. Now I drive home unsatisfied but in love with the beautiful machine I set out to buy. Since I have had the car 3 weeks I have no received my Title (I believe they mailed it to the wrong address and I will not pay the balance till I received a title) so now I have to go to the MVA and title the car myself which will cost me 125.00 in MD plus tax and fees and I could possibly be looking to pay the sales tax on the car as well. I also have to purchase new plugs, wires and ignition coils as they are bad and that is what is cause the rough idle no to mention xxxx poor gas MPG. I know the car is bad on gas normally but this is horrid even for a Rotary motor car. So to sum it all up I have to spend 300.00 in tune up parts (plus don’t forget that battery that wouldn’t start for 150.00) for a car that supposedly just received one. After my first hand wash of the car I used soap and a light brush and wiped the tail pipes down took me 20 seconds now they are sliver again. I haven’t received my title (125.00), I only have a few days left on the temp tags and I had to purchase gas (36) to drive it from the dealer ship. So my total after purchasing the car is $611.00 and that is with me doing the tune up. Plus I still have to get it to pass MD inspection which provided nothing fails is 80 dollars. Bring my total close to 700 dollars, for a car that I should have only had to MD inspect. I have called 2 but since I work night’s it’s hard for me to reach someone as I don’t wake up till around 4pm or so and by the time I can call it’s 6pm and no one answers. I am will be going to the better business burro after I handle my title. I would NEVER EVER do business with them again nor should anyone else. I will also call the local base of Quantico and help get them on the official off limited establishment, as I am still a reservist in the military. If it wasn't for the fact this car is hard to find and for a reasonable price I would have, not called back after the second associate was rude to me. More

Do not buy from this dealership, my wife and I test drove a car and spoke to the sale person who told us the 2nd set of keys (remote key about $350) were in the office as well as the manual, we put a deposit a car and spoke to the sale person who told us the 2nd set of keys (remote key about $350) were in the office as well as the manual, we put a deposit on the car and were going to pick it up in a couple of days. A few days later we go back to get the car and Val Williams doesn't have the manual or key anymore and gives a letter that he signs saying that he owes us that stuff. 6 weeks later we're still waiting for these items and all we get from Val is that it's being mailed out immediately, you'll have it in a few days. DON'T EVER BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALER OR SELECT AUTO SALES(owned by STAFFORD AUTO) THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE STANDARD RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING THE SALE OF AUTOMOBILES. THEY WILL GIVE YOU ILLEGAL IN SALES(owned by STAFFORD AUTO) THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE STANDARD RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING THE SALE OF AUTOMOBILES. THEY WILL GIVE YOU ILLEGAL INFORMATION JUST SO THEY CAN SELL YOU A CAR. I went to Select Auto Sales (owned by Stafford Auto) in Jan 2009 to look at a 2002 Subaru WRX. Initially everything was fine I test drove the car and everything appeared to be fine. I initially went in looking to put down around $7k down payment and finance the remaining balance. At first the salesman, Moe Sadiq, wanted me to put only $2k down and finance the rest through their bank at 12% interest. I told him that isn't possible and to call me if they could arrange a different financing plan. He called back three hours later and said that they would take the $7k and if I could pay off the remaining balance over the next two months (around $2200) that I would pay 0% interest. I agreed and returned a few hours later with the down payment. I arrived there at 5:30pm and was expecting the whole ordeal to take around an hour. I waited for almost two and half hours with the check in my hand while he kept leaving to attend to people who were just pulling up on the lot. When he finally gave me the paper work we agreed on the down payment and financing. When I asked about the title he said they would hold the title til I finish with the payments and issue me three months worth of temporary tags, which I would later be told is illegal. Not knowing this I agreed and signed the paperwork. So the 1st month goes by and I make the 1st payment a week early and ask if I can get the next set of temp tags. He said he didn't have time right then (he was eating lunch and no one else was on the lot)and to come back in a week and he'd get them to me. A hassle but not that big of a deal. I returned a week later and got the 2nd set of temp tags. 2nd month rolls around I went to make the final payment 2 days early hoping that I could go ahead and get the temp tags and title. I go in make the payment and ask for the title and tags. He told me he had to deposit the check first and then I could have the title, even though it was a certified check through my credit union (which I explained to him). He said once again he didn't have time and to come back and he would give me the title in 2 days and the last set of temp tags. Though agitated I agreed and returned two days later. The date he wanted me to come back was also the date my current temp tags expired. So I go in and the secretary gives me an envelope with my title information. When I ask about the temp tags she gives me a weird look then says they can't do that. I explain to her the deal that was made and she goes and gets Moe Sadiq. I have the conversation we had recorded on my cell phone and I am going to try to submit a complaint against them through the Virginia Auto Dealers Board. When I asked Moe about the temp tags he said he couldn't give me another set of temp tags. When I asked why he told me that it was illegal. I responded by asking him if he remembered our deal and he said he did agree for the 3 months worth of tags, but there was a new law that only allowed them to issue out 2 months worth of temp tags. I then inquired to when he became aware of this and when the rule was instated. He said he didn't know when it was instated and that he found out about it a week ago. I then asked him why he told me that he could give me the tags, at the time of the deal, at the time I made the 1st payment, and the 2nd payment. His only response is I can't do it its illegal. Either way the last day of the financing period would have had me driving on expired tags. I then asked him why he told me that about the 3 month temp tags even though it was illegal? His only response was "well Springfield has a DMV which is open til 7pm", bear in mind its about 5:45 and Springfield is at least and hour away from Fredericksburg. I told him I would never make it in time and he shrugged and said well what do you want me to do. I said I wanted the deal that was offered to me and he said well I can't do that. Finally I asked him why he didn't give me the title 2 days ago so I would have had time to go to the DMV. He just shrugged and said tough luck. I left pretty angry and hope that I can at least have them fined for giving out illegal information. So please do yourself a favor and don't buy from them. More
I saw an ad on CraigsList for a vehicle I was highly interested in but the ad itself had a ridiculous amount of spelling errors and run-on sentences… however, the low price of the car ($16,449 in the ti interested in but the ad itself had a ridiculous amount of spelling errors and run-on sentences… however, the low price of the car ($16,449 in the title, $16,889 in the actual body of the ad) made my boyfriend and I weary because that car isn’t usually that “cheap.” I called the number listed and a girl picks up and has no idea why I’m calling. There is no other contact information other than an e-mail address that looked sketchy – www.kabul@live.com or something. I tried e-mailing but received a failed e-mail attempt. I decided to look on Auto Trader to see if I could find the same ad and voila, lo and behold; I found it, an ad with actual contact information that worked (car listed for $16,900). I call and schedule an appointment for 3PM with Val. Stafford Auto Sales is a hole in the wall car dealership off of Route 1/Jefferson Davis Highway near Quantico. It’s basically a parking lot with a lot of different makes of cars: Audi, Acura, Infiniti, Mercedes, etc. There’s one shack in the middle of the lot that they conduct their “business” in. Bobby was the first one to approach us and was generally a nice guy, let us test drive the car, gave me the CarFax information on the car, answered any questions he could answer. The car was in great shape and they explained that the price was due to “volume and sales over high prices that don’t sell very many cars, especially in this economy.” Bobby even let my boyfriend and Dad (both certified Honda and Acura mechanics) put the car on a lift at a shop next door to check underneath the car for any leaks and checked for frame damage. No problems. Okay, so now we’re ready to make an offer on the car. We ask Bobby and he says that Val is the General Manager that handles the finances. So we wait. He was already missing-in-action when we first got there, even though I called and made an appointment through him. We had already looked at the car and tested it out for 45 minutes and he still wasn’t back. “He is on his lunch break, he will be back soon. He’s taking the exit off 95; he should be here in 15 minutes.” The exit off 95 is probably 3-4 miles away and there was non-existent traffic at the time so why would it take 15 minutes? After 25 minutes, my parents are pissed off because we’re still waiting so we decide to grab a quick bite at McDonald’s. Boyfriend and I eat and head back and he’s finally back. “I had to take care of some things.” K, whatever. As we’re entering the office, a girl who works there talks about how she got pulled over by a state trooper in the Range Rover. Real professional to talk about as customers are in the vicinity... Not really. So I ask about the CL ad and why was the price different from the AT ad. “Well, that CL ad is a mistake. A huge mistake and whoever did it is going to be in huge trouble.” Being Asian and knowing nothing about cars, my Mom tries to haggle for $15K when the car is being advertised for $16.9K. Val says, “Absolutely not.” K, fine, she gets over it and we all attempt to agree on something realistic; after going back and forth on numbers for 30 minutes, he agrees to $16,300 and we asked for $16,200. “I gotta call the big boss and ask him. He’s vacationing in Miami right now,” he says as he walks out. Must be nice. Comes back and says, “Well, since the CL ad was a mistake, we will honor it and do $16,400 and that’s final,” to which, finally after going back and forth for 30 minutes, we all agree to, IF they agree to fix the alignment of the car, detail the interior/exterior and include taxes, fees and registration. Everyone is in concurrence. My parents write a check for a deposit to hold the car and leave because they had a wedding to get ready and head out to. So Boyfriend and I are sitting there, ready to fork over the check and get the financing started. As he’s inputting the price into the computer, he looks at us and says, “$16,449, right?” Boyfriend and I are astonished. Did we NOT just ALL agree to $16,400?!!! “Nope, I never agreed to that. I said we would honor the mistake on the CL ad and we’d do $16,449.” My Boyfriend says, “Who goes to a car dealership and actually pays what is on the ad? The haggling and bargaining is all apart of the process and we have already come to terms with paying $16,400 for the car and we ALL agreed on that price! It’s JUST $49!” Val says, “Nope, I never said or agreed to that.” ... so, Boyfriend and I agree to just leave because the place is shady and Val is a questionable person. At dinner later on in the evening, Boyfriend says, “We should just go back and put a deposit on the car. We will never find a car in that good of condition for that price.” Hmm, okay. I wake up still feeling uneasy about it, especially because Boyfriend went out of town on a business trip that day but luckily his older brother and fiancé agree to come with. So we head out there, Val notices us afterwards and says, “Wanna go inside and talk?” No, More
