My husband and I had discussed me buying a new car. We decided we wanted to look at the Honda CRV, and the Subaru Forester. Last Monday, he went to Spartanburg Honda to take a look at the CRVs. My h We decided we wanted to look at the Honda CRV, and the Subaru Forester. Last Monday, he went to Spartanburg Honda to take a look at the CRVs. My husband told Conor that the earliest I would be able to get there to test drive the car was Saturday and that he (my husband) was there to do an initial lookover. The final decision would be up to me, because I would be paying the downpayment, and making the payments. Conor tried to convince my husband to just go ahead and by the car right then and there, without my input. My husband gave Conor his phone number, and said we would both come by on Saturday. Before he left, though, Conor gave him an estimate on the price, and on my trade-in. In the proposal he wrote up, he also added $2600 in add-ons ("Protective Floormats" for $1600, and some sort of nano-tech process for the paint for $1000.) When my husband said that we didn't want the add ons, Conor said that all of the CRVs on the lot had those add-ons, and there was no way to not get get them. Spartanburg Honda called my husband twice on Monday, after he got home. They called 3 times on Tuesday. They called 3 times on Wednesday. They called 3 times on Thursday. They called 3 times on Friday. Before we even left the house on Saturday, they had called once. They called while we were at Spartanburg Subaru testing driving the Forester. They called again while we were at Dick Brooks Honda in Greer. While we were at Dick Brooks Honda in Greer, I test drove the CRV EX-1. I was really impressed with the car, and we decided to buy the CRV instead of the Forester. Although they offered us the same add ons that Conor insisted had to be included on every CRV, we declined. Our sales rep was very knowledgeable and respectful. It was a genuinely pleasurable experience, and how often can you say that about buying a car? Spartanburg Honda lost a sale because Conor's idea of being a good sales rep is to suggest a husband ignore his wife's wishes and just buy the car (not even the trim level I wanted), added on services/products that we didn't want (and said we had no choice in the matter) and called my husband three times a day for the 5 days. I truly hope that this is not "business as usual" for Spartanburg Honda, but I have my doubts. More
We live near Asheville and reached out about leasing a vehicle. This is our first time doing a lease. These folks are ON IT!! They helped us... and it wasn't just one person. It was a group effort. They k vehicle. This is our first time doing a lease. These folks are ON IT!! They helped us... and it wasn't just one person. It was a group effort. They kept us up to date every step of the way. We were able to do paperwork ahead of time to save time at the dealership. Haley was our first point of contact, with Internet Sales. Then we met DJ, our sales person... Who is an AWESOME, friendly, down to earth guy... then on to Thomas in finance. THIS TEAM KILLED IT and we appreciate it! More
The worst I've seen on some time. Complete incompetence, borderline criminal behavior. I'm reporting to Consumer Affairs and BBB. As well as Spartanburg Chambers of Congress. Always get an attitude from here despite being polite and just trying to order parts. Tried to get a quote on rounded screw repair and got told it would be $89 just to see it. Not work on it, not do any labo just trying to order parts. Tried to get a quote on rounded screw repair and got told it would be $89 just to see it. Not work on it, not do any labor. Just to see it. If that’s the cost to see it, I don’t even want to know what they’d charge for the fix. Well, I managed to fix it with some elbow grease for free. Better off doing your own repairs if you don’t want them to take you for everything they can. More
Not the way to do business! ! I was in the market for a 2020 Honda CRV and Cars.com brought me to this dealership. I saw a great deal on a CRV and decided to make an appointme ! I was in the market for a 2020 Honda CRV and Cars.com brought me to this dealership. I saw a great deal on a CRV and decided to make an appointment. The people at first were very friendly and reached out. They let me know their appointment times are from 930 to 6 Monday through Saturday . So I decided to schedule my appointment for 10 AM. I got pre-approved from my own credit union and was ready to put a deposit down because they were going to cut me a check that Monday if everything worked out. I pack up my wife three-year-old, and six month old in the car and I arrive at 9:18 AM and message the salesman Michael Westmoreland to let him know I have arrived. He then responds back to me at 9:20 telling me that the vehicle has been sold. And we have other options for you. The dealership just opened at 9 o’clock and I have been talking to him for the past few days about this vehicle. Why couldn’t he have held on to this vehicle for a few more minutes? I came with full intentions on buying this vehicle if it drove. The salesman then explains to me. It is first come first serve. I explained to him that any other dealership has a 72 hour non refundable deposit to hold a vehicle. Then told him again about my hour long drive as I’m holding my 6 month old in my hands and I asked him again, What time did they open because I wanted to emphasize that they just opened and just sold this vehicle I had an appointment. He then shows me a 2019 with more miles and tells me it’s “comparable” I’m thinking why didn’t you show the non appointment person this vehicle? The sales lady told me earliest I could be there was 9:30 if I had an appointment, so a random person on the streets takes priority over your appointments? Not even the bank or the DMV have this first come first serve policy, it shows how you value the money more than the people. They also would have had to honor the price on cars.com which was $2000 less than the price they had posted on the dealership website so I know they were happy to hear someone would pay the extra money. Another example of money comes first people and family comes after. If you aren’t financing with this dealership they will treat you like a second class citizen and they have expressed to me and my family that the money comes before the people. I would not go to this dealership to buy a car and if you absolutely have to, do not bother making an appointment just come at opening and make sure you pick what you want quickly. This place has left a horrible taste in my mouth and I don’t like how the salesman was nonchalant about the way they do business. I told him upfront I am BIG on transparency and this place is shady at best. More
