Susan and William, This is an unfortunate situation. We were more than willing to help. Just not willing to service it at no charge. Your Ascent is out of warranty, with it being 45 months old and close to 60k miles. We have said from day one that you need an appointment so that we can confirm and diagnose the failure. You stopped in without an appointment in early June for us to look at it, but we couldn't accommodate you that day due to us having a full schedule. Other than stopping in without an appointment, you have not given us the opportunity to confirm and diagnose the issue. You reached out to Subaru of America for assistance with the repair, and were told that you needed to schedule an appointment so that the failure could be diagnosed. Subaru of America was willing to consider assistance, but they can't and won't promise assistance until they know if the issue is a manufacturer defect or caused by outside influence. This is reasonable. Still, you refused to schedule an appointment because you didn't want to pay the $75 diagnostic charge. If you were so concerned about the safety of your grandchildren, you should have scheduled an appointment to have the issue diagnosed. Instead, it's been two months since you brought the issue to our attention, refused appointments, the issue still has yet to be diagnosed, and now your badmouthing us on the internet to bully us into repairing your car for free. Simply put, your vehicle is out of warranty, and you are responsible to pay for repairs after warranty.

We will continue to post the truth about your defective car locks, you choose to become the victim. I feel it is a reasonable expectation to have a $50,000 vehicle that has 4 useable doors. It certainly wouldnt cost you $75 to do a test. You made money on the sale of the new Ascent and made money on our previous service. I believe we are not unreasonable to have access through all 4 doors.

I agree with you... having four functioning doors is not an unreasonable expectation for any vehicle, regardless of the price of the vehicle. However, things can, and do, fail on vehicles. I wish you the best.
