Don't make an appointment...it doesn't mean anything! I needed to have service done on my 2014 F350. I called the service number on their website and scheduled an appointment. I also made an appointment I needed to have service done on my 2014 F350. I called the service number on their website and scheduled an appointment. I also made an appointment for the same time and day on their website. I got a friend from work to meet me at Hall Ford to drop off my truck. When I get to the truck service desk, I was informed that they are backed up two weeks and can't get to my truck. I told them I made two appointments for the same time just to be sure. He said that their call center is not located with the dealership and this happens all the time. I was leaving for a camping trip towing a trailer with my truck in two days and was counting on my appointment. They left me scrambling to find another Ford service center at the last minute. Not to mention, the time wasted having my ride meet me at the dealership. This is the second time this has happened to me at Hall Ford! I've taken my truck to another Ford dealership for service and will continue to stay away from Hall. More
Great service department I've been dealing with Hall since 1997, when it was also Hall Mitsubishi. I bought a Mirage first, then an Eclipse Spyder convertible in 2007. I so I've been dealing with Hall since 1997, when it was also Hall Mitsubishi. I bought a Mirage first, then an Eclipse Spyder convertible in 2007. I so appreciate the service department for ease of scheduling, politeness, good prices, and, of course, free inspections. My only complaint has nothing to do with them; it's the difficulty using the call center telephone numbers to reach them. Yesterday (Feb. 17, 2016), I spent several useless minutes trying to reach Hall Ford Lincoln in Newport News by using the toll-free number provided on the website. How annoying to be connected to a person who had no idea how to help me. I needed an estimate on some body work, not knowing that Hall no longer had a body shop. The person at the call center told me I had an appointment today at 2:00 p.m. with Larry. When I arrived at Hall Ford Lincoln in Newport News to keep this appointment, naturally there was no such person. Fortunately, in keeping with their usual excellent service, the folks behind the counter used the computer to "find" me and explain that they no longer had a body shop. They called Bay Custom Auto nearby and set up an immediate appointment for me. They also gave me their local number so I won't have to use the call center ever again. I would be so happy if the Hall corporation would revert to using local numbers. More

I came in on a Monday with fear that something terrible was wrong with my only form of transportation. From the moment we met at the service desk, he was nothing but nice to me. He knew my concerns and said that he too was on the other side of the desk and would help me all that he could. I was shuttled back to work and during the course of the day Patrick kept me informed of the review of my car. Finally the news came that it was the transmission. The price tag was hard to swallow, but Patrick did not give up. He dug in there for me. He saw me through the whole process. He set up a rental for me through Enterprise, and continued to doggedly follow through until he was able to find that my warranty covered it. Phew! What a huge relief! Within one week I went from fears and tears to sheer joy! I'm back in my vehicle because Patrick went above and beyond normal service protocol to truly help. Thank God for Patrick! More

Patrick Houdsen is the reason why I purchased my 2014 Escape from the dealership. He is my service advisor and can tell me anything I need to know about my car and always helps me with my service needs and questions, even if my car is not in for service at the time. Last week I reached out to him because my tire was low and, because it has Nitrogen, I was not sure if I could put regular air in it. I left me a message and he quickly phoned me back to answer my question even though my car was not in for service at the time. This is the way he has always been and, again the reason why I bought my latest ford from this dealership. Hall Ford in Newport News is lucky to have someone like Patrick working for them that takes such good care of it's customers. It is the service that matters the most and what will keep customers coming back to buy cars from this dealership. More

State inspection -- Hall said I needed upper and lower ball joints on both the passenger and driver side (4 total ball joints -over $1000 worth of repairs) to pass inspection (ball joints are part of the state inspection) but separately charged me a $69 "diagnostic fee". Subsequent inspection by BOTH BL on Jefferson Ave and Firestone on Ft Eustis both confirmed that only (1) one ball joint was actually bad. Hall wanted to charge me $179 for a front end alignment after the ball joint replacement --- BL and Firestone would do the same work for between $79-$109. Oil Change --- (you're gonna love this) Hall charged me for seven (7) quarts of 5W-20W oil when my vehicle's engine has a capacity including the oil filter of just six quarts --- this is just cheap nickle and dime stuff and coming from a dealership of its size, laughable (and borderline criminal) Caution regarding Hall Ford / Lincoln --- they will sell you work you don't actually need as evidenced by my experience with them today. Avoid this dealership. More
Great Service Department and Team! Robin did it again! She is terrific! THANK YOU for employing such a capable, amazing, intelligent woman in your service department! By way of bac Robin did it again! She is terrific! THANK YOU for employing such a capable, amazing, intelligent woman in your service department! By way of background, I bought and had serviced from you two Lincoln MKX’s that I absolutely LOVED! Sadly for me, I drive from Norfolk to Newport News and Williamsburg EVERY DAY and so I finally made the difficult decision to purchase a more fuel-efficient vehicle…from you of course thanks to Robin, the Green Team and your amazing service department. I feel 100% comfortable with what Robin is telling me and trust her judgment implicitly. I bought a Ford C-Max and while I love it, it certainly isn’t as luxurious as the Lincoln’s. Last week I was able to get an appointment the VERY NEXT DAY for some recalls that needed attention on my C-max. When a part wasn’t available until the next day, Robin kindly asked if she could keep the car overnight and did I have a way home (she knows I live on the other side of the water). When I stated I wasn’t sure about getting a ride home, she stated she thought she may have a loaner and called me back promptly to state she did. So, your nice shuttle driver Ted picked me up and Robin had ready for me a beautiful Lincoln MKS. I drove It home and truly felt like a princess! I hated to return it and Robin stated you had many Lincolns in your showroom…I promised her – and now you – that if/when I will be purchasing a new car (probably fuel efficient again, yet I hope to retire someday and drive a luxury Lincoln again), Hall Automotive will be the ONLY place I will go! I have never written a “thank you” note to a dealership before, yet I had to THANK and COMMEND you again for employing such caring people like Robin, and running a terrific business. You have my business….always. Janet V. Green More

Hall Ford a sad excuse of a service center. I usually self-service all of my vehicle needs. Due to a lack of spare time I decided to have a Ford certified shop perform repairs on my vehicle. I drove my 2 self-service all of my vehicle needs. Due to a lack of spare time I decided to have a Ford certified shop perform repairs on my vehicle. I drove my 2005 F150 ~30 miles to this service center. I had a misfire on cylinder #5 which I had diagnose prior to bringing it to the shop. The spark plug and ignition coil pack were GOOD which I diagnosed prior to putting it in the shop as well. Hall's technician performed his diagnostic test and confirmed what I diagnosed to be true (misfire on #5, plug and coil pack GOOD). They perform a compression test on #5 and stated that it was low and they wanted to remove the valve cover to inspect the valves. I granted them permission to do so. Upon completing their inspection they stated that the valves look fine and recommended that I needed to replace the engine. (huh?!!) They provided no root cause nor any additional information related to the failure. When I requested the compression measurement they could not provide it for the tech did not record it. They never performed dry and wet compression test which is a standard test used to determine the condition of the pistons and rings, cylinder, valves and seats, and even the head gasket. When I presented this to the service manager she was clueless and had never heard of a dry and wet compression test. I disputed my case to the top authority at this location with no reconciliation. The service charge was $517 and they provided me no useful information nor insight as the the truck's failure. Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend this repair shop. However, this location does have a pretty impressive NEW car lot. But with this kind of repair service, I would not buy from Hall Ford. More
