We have bought at least twelve Volvos from Smythe, over a period of about 20 years. (We give our old ones to our children.) The excellent service of Smythe Volvo started when I couldnt start my car and Doug came to my house to 'unstick' the ignition. When I arrived for the appointment, I was given a loaner car (which I was not expecting). Next, there was an issue with the break pads. We purchased the car preowned from out of state and the wrong size break pads were installed. He offered to call the dealer, who agreed to cover the cost of replacing the break pads. The service at Smythe Volvo is so fantastic that it is reason to be a lifelong Volvo owner. More

The staff is the most professional I've ever dealt with in the automobile dealership industry over the past 30 years I've owned cars. Sean does an amazing job managing and training the staff to remain professional at all times no matter how rude some people can be...and I've witnessed some obnoxious people in thier presence, but the staff always handles and resolves the situaton to the customer's satisfaction. The Smythe Volvo, Inc. dealership in Summit, NJ is quite impressive. So friendly, courteous, informative and, most especially, helpful. The sales rep who sold me my car, Brian Gail, made the appointment for me on extremely short notice. My 2010 S80 model was brought in the following day and the scheduled 15,000 mile service and maintenance was performed in 3 hours time. Newly available software was downloaded for the operation of the transmission in the car, a surefire proof that the S80 model is a "smart car." It is the best car that I have ever owned and operated. The Service Advisor who helped me out was Douglas MacAdam. He advised me about the transmission and about changing the oil and other prudent regular maintenance considerations associated with the model. In interacting with Messrs. Gail and MacAdam a feeling of confidence arises in me that I have been and will be well taken care of in the future with my automobile. I have turned to Brian for advice several times in the recent past and today to Doug for advice on service and maintenance considerations. Their considerable expertise, knowledge and helpfulness give rise to true customer satisfaction. On this basis, and without reservation, I strongly recommend the Smythe Volvo dealership in Summit, New Jersey. More
I've been serviceing with this dealership for several years now. I used to use the one on Route 10 but, they don't hold a candle to Smythe Volvo. I stopped by WITHOUT an appointment because I was ready t years now. I used to use the one on Route 10 but, they don't hold a candle to Smythe Volvo. I stopped by WITHOUT an appointment because I was ready to leave on a trip, and the car was developing a strange noise. Doug walked with me out to my car and within minutes was able to tell me what the cause was, what it would cost to fix, and how long the repair would take. I decided to delay my trip a day and have the repair done for peace of mind. Doug arranged to get me a ride home. (I live locally) The next morning I received a call telling me that the car was fixed, AND the repair was COVERED by an extended warranty that I had forgotten that I had even purchased a few years ago. Doug took it upon himself to investigate the warranty issue! I wish all car dealerships were run by the people at Smythe. More
I have been a customer of Smythe Volvo since 1998. I own two Volvos and they have been serviced exclusively by Smythe since I bought them. Just brought my car in for what I thought was a sensor check/reset or quick fix and turned out to be a little more. Doug was outstanding in getting my car looked at, fixed, and ready within the hour so I check/reset or quick fix and turned out to be a little more. Smythe Volvo is what a car dealership should be. That is, a collection of talented individuals working together for your benefit. They have successfully found the formula that leaves you the customer with the feeling that they won’t rest until your concerns or problems have been successfully dealt with. This past week, I was once again reminded why I have purchased or leased all 4 of the Volvos I’ve driven over the past 30 plus years from Smythe. My current lease is almost up on my 2010 XC60, and I had an inspection by the leasing bank’s representative scheduled for Monday 3/12. It was Thursday morning 3/8 and I had just become aware the evening before that my sunroof wouldn’t open. I called the Service Department and spoke to Doug to see if they could just sneak me in on Friday, so that someone could take a look at the sunroof so that I had a story for the inspector on Monday. Not only did they get me in, but they were also able to perform a scheduled 30,000 mile service and do some other previously unknown warranty work, in preparation for my inspection. They were also able to provide me with a loaner car at such short notice. I cannot say enough about the entire Smythe Volvo family. The Service Department is top notch. But it doesn’t stop there. Smythe Volvo stands behind the product that they sell. In fact, when we took possession of our 2010 XC60 three years ago, we had some issues. The model was brand new and had some growing pains. We had the vehicle in and out of the shop on a few occasions early on and the Service Dept determined that there were some software problems that were just beginning to surface in the model line and did their best to solve them. Unrequested, Sean Flanagan & Craig Melquist arranged to replace our vehicle with a new one. To this day, I’m still impressed that their pride in their product drove them to do the right thing, without even being asked. I currently am driving a 2006 S40 with over 100,000 miles. I am confident that Smythe Volvo will help me to keep my car on the road and provide me with another pleasant purchasing experience once I decide to trade up. More
