Communication needs to be better between parts and service and service and the customer. Our Soul needed some work due to recalls. We took the vehicle in the beginning of June for service and to check service and service and the customer. Our Soul needed some work due to recalls. We took the vehicle in the beginning of June for service and to check recalls. I talked to Sara in the service department. She told me that the car did not pass and we would need several things replaced in the engine. I asked Sara about a loaner car (we have three people that work), but she assured me the service would only take a day or two at the most. They were ordering the parts that day and should be in in about a week. We realized around the end of June that we had not heard from Kia service so my husband called (approximately June 27). They said the parts had been in for a couple of weeks. We told them that no one had called to let us know. We would bring it in. The next day another vehicle in our home went into the shop unexpectedly. July 7 we received a call from Sara stating if we did not bring the car in the parts would be shipped back. I explained to her that no one called about the parts to begin with and or vehicle circumstances had changed. We would be down to one vehicle. I set up an appointment for July 19 to bring it in. Again, I was assured that we would have the vehicle back within a day or two at the most. We were down to one vehicle and Kia is not able to loan vehicles. I dropped the car off Monday, July 18. Sara was not there. I gave the man at the service desk my information and the car. On July 20, I was in Trussville for a different appointment and called to check on the car since I had not heard anything. I waited about 10 minutes for them to check with the mechanic. I was told to check back Friday, July 22, it should be ready, but call before you come. We did not hear anything so my husband called after lunch. He was put on hold while service talked to the mechanic. He was told Monday, July 25. We were finally called right before lunch on Monday to pick it up. The could not locate the key when we arrived. The ticket and the number on the key did not match. My biggest frustrations were 1) No one called when the parts came in back in middle of June. We would have had no problem getting it in and completed. 2) After no contact other than us calling, we were told the parts would go back if we didn’t get the car in ASAP even though parts and service clearly had a communication issue. 3) I understand that there are no vehicles available to loan out. We were told at pick up that we could have rented a vehicle and been reimbursed. This option was never offered even when we explained we had another vehicle in the shop and three people needing to get to work. 4) Along the way, we were assured that the vehicle would take no more than a day or two. We were without for 7 days. It was explained when we got to Friday that COVID had hit. Why didn’t someone call before? I would have been more understanding about all of this if Kia of Trussville would have communicated better with us. We were the ones having to call and request information. The mechanics and parts are not communicating well with service. I will not be returning to Kia of Trussville for service or maintenance in the future. It is the most convenient, but I do have other Kia service departments close where I live. More
