Schaller Honda has a long-standing history in the Middletown, Newington, Berlin, Cromwell, West Hartford, and Bristol area. In the spring of 1953, Art Schaller’s grandfather, Gustave Schaller, founded a dealership in New Britain as a means of serving the automotive needs of a budding community. In the first year of business, Schaller had eight employees and sold approximately 200 new and used vehicles. Today, Schaller Honda maintains the family values and small dealership mindset as part of Schaller Auto World, but on a greater scale. As the marketplace has grown, so has the company. Schaller Honda was added in the spring of 1987, and has grown to a staff of 200 employees while still striving to offer the personalized experience that the community has come to know and expect. That includes focusing on what drivers need and want from their vehicle purchase, not on the cars our sales representatives are trying to sell. It also means paying attention a driver’s budget in order to showcase the offers and incentives we have on new Honda models, as well as our vast selection of used models from Honda and other automakers. Our finance team also works diligently to set you up with financing that meets what you can afford, or lease terms you’re entirely comfortable with. In our service department, our technicians will pay attention to your specific maintenance and repair requests, working to complete them as quickly and efficiently as possible to get you back on the road. For more than 60 years, the Schaller family has presented the community with precisely what a dealership experience should entail. Experience this for yourself by paying us a visit at 1 Veterans Dr. in New Britain, CT, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to learn more.

Schaller Honda responded

While Schaller Honda regrets this misunderstanding we must point out that the additional fees represented in this review have nothing to do with amounts that could possibly be charged by a franchised automobile dealership in Connecticut. In this case the ENTIRE amount ($3,642.83) was wholly composed of outstanding payments and unpaid property tax that were not remitted by the customer during the lease. The customer, advised both the sales manager and our sales consultant that their current lease had concluded and would need to be turned in to Honda by the end of the month. The customer also stated that there were no payments due on their previous lease. In turn, Schaller Honda did not charge the customer for any fees due to American Honda. The contract, signed by the customer was calculated with no mention of any payments that would be due by the customer before the termination of their lease. There is also a signed, Off-Lease Acknowledgment Form stating that the customer agrees Schaller Honda owes no funds as a result of terminating their lease on behalf of American Honda. In effect, the customer stated in writing at purchase that there were no outstanding charges due on their lease or owed by the dealership. The customer simply did not disclose that they had additional balances due on their terminating lease. The dealership acted in good faith based upon the information given by the customer. In no case were any fees ever charged, scammed, or shadily acquired. We feel the customer is attempting to pass on their contracted financial responsibility to Schaller Honda after the fact.
