Showed me their "best deal", and it had $3000 in bogus dealer extras hidden in the price (special paint and windshield protection, GPS tracker, etc). When I objected to this, their excuse was "all dealers do this". I will take my business elsewhere. More
I’ve purchased a Toyota 4 Runner and 6 Tacomas through the years and have always had fairly decent service and sales experiences. That is up until today when I brought my 2021 Tacoma in for its 30k servic the years and have always had fairly decent service and sales experiences. That is up until today when I brought my 2021 Tacoma in for its 30k service. When I made the appt. I was told it would be $239.00 for the 30k service. I arrived and John Clayton sat down and scribbled down on a piece of paper what he recommended I should have done. Oil Change $104.95 Rotation $39.95 AF $49.95 CF $79.95 Wipers $49.95 Oil Treatment $89.95 Battery Service $89.95 4WD Service $499.95 Alignment $139.95 Balance $149.95 3 Part Fuel System Service $229.95 Brake Fluid Exchange $189.95 PS Fluid Exchange $189.95 Evap Service $239.95 $2274.20 for a 30k service on a 2021 Tacoma in mint condition. I rejected this obvious ludicrus estimate and this Service advisor who had the audacity to think I would accept this obvious attemp to oversell his recommendation for what I SHOULD have performed on my vehicle. I’ve spent a lot of money on vehicles and service here in the past, but this is my absolute LAST trip from Schertz to San Marcos Toyota AND my absolute LAST Toyota puchased if that is their strategy for customer support. Definately a third rate shady used car lot type experience. This dealership has experienced a spectacular flame-out. I’m embarrased for you! More

While on a Wednesday evening, showed up for it and all went well. On Thursday, she scheduled a time for us to come in and buy the car that evening. While I was en route halfway from Houston, she got a call from the salesman stating that they had just sold the car to someone else. I get it. First come, first serve. However, I don't think you should be making appointments for customers to come in and purchase a vehicle if you're not even willing to hold the vehicle for just a few hours. I've gone through this process many times with other dealerships and the one other time another buyer came along, the salesman called me to confirm that I was still coming and told me he was holding the vehicle for me. I wish I would have gotten the same respect this time. More
BAIT, LURE, SWITCH tactics. Today, I saw a 4runner with $3k off from its TSRP on their website, so I called them to confirm the price and availability. They told me it is avail Today, I saw a 4runner with $3k off from its TSRP on their website, so I called them to confirm the price and availability. They told me it is available and that is the correct price and it is actually 3k off. They asked me to come to their place and check the car in person. Since I live around Lakeline, Austin and I didn't want to drive down there just to face a bad price surprise, I specifically asked them if there is any additional add-ons and they told me there are some add-ons offered by the dealership but they are optional and I don't have to get them if I don't want to. So I drove down there with a friend and even though I told them right away that I don't want any dealer add-ons, they tried to sell me add-ons (so called protection packages with no value to me) that cost $3k. After haggling almost an hour and ,after the sales person did back and forth with the sales manager 4 times, and after talking to the manager, they finally seem to agree to remove those add-ons from the deal and sell the car at the price advertised on their website . Then even though I told them I will pay cash before, they insist that I finance with them so I told them no again. Then they asked me how I will pay and I told them I will pay with a debit card. Then they said they are not accepting debit card payment more than $5k because there is a %3 charge (mind you, this is not a credit card but a debit card, this sounds a lie to me because I did purchase a car worth of $55k from a Toyota dealer with a debit card before). Anyway I asked them how else can I pay and they said wire transfer, cash, or check. Since I didn't know they are not accepting debit card payment more than $5k, I didn't bring my checkbook with me. So I told them I can do wire transfer right away, then they did a 180 and told me that "but wire transfer is taking 3 days and they can't give me the car before they receive the money in their account in 3 days". Then they told me that "I can give them $5k today and sign a finance contract and bring the rest of the money as a check next day" and then they will cancel the finance contract. Of course, after seeing their character and their tricky tactics and acts, I lost all of my trust and didn't do any kind of deal with them and just left. So, to summarize, they lure you with a low bait price on their website and on the phone, and when you get there, they try to sell bunch of non-sense add-ons and when you refuse that, they do any trick to get more money out of you, and after they understand they will not be able to do that, they come up with nonsense excuses not to sell the car at the price they promised you and which is advertised on their website. Basically, they wasted our 4 hours driving and haggling today and just got us frustrated. If you value your time, money and mental health, I suggest you to STAY AWAY from this place and especially stay away from these three guys "Desmond, George and a sales manager with light blue eyes at the age around 27-37 who didn't give us his name". This was by far the most difficult car purchase in my life! I have bought many cars and I really can’t understand why it had to be. This was an out of state used car purchase that began Dec. 13 2022 f my life! I have bought many cars and I really can’t understand why it had to be. This was an out of state used car purchase that began Dec. 13 2022 for a 2016 Jaguar XJL. When I inquired about the condition of this car I was assured that, "this car is pristine and was in need of nothing". I counted heavily on that statement due to this being an online, out of state purchase. I’m sitting here with a car I got delivered needing significant repairs upon arrival and showing warning alerts on dash. Car was not anywhere near the condition described or shown. I was misled. No, lied to about the condition of this car by the used car sales manager, Craig Tondre and his staff. The Apex service contracts they sell are worthless at best. If this would have been a Carvana or CarMax purchase, this car would have gone straight back the next day for a refund. In the end, this customer is far from happy. To be clear, I feel ripped off. I cannot recommend San Marcos Toyota in any way or form, now or in the future. I will never do business with them again as they lack the integrity for me to do any business with. I would be better served by a no name corner car lot. I expected far more integrity from a Toyota dealership. I could go on, but I think you get the point by now. More
Was told he was off in an hour and a half and wanted to leave by then while talking out a deal. I should’ve left then so he really made it home on time. Knew at that very moment I wasn’t going to get a d leave by then while talking out a deal. I should’ve left then so he really made it home on time. Knew at that very moment I wasn’t going to get a deal. Honestly - biggest xxxxxxx to date. He was more concerned with trying to belittle me than to sell a car. My relative had the same issue with the same guy. This isn’t the first time. Y’all need to train your people better. Going elsewhere to get the same exact car that isn’t extremely marked up. More
I am givng San Marcos Toyota two stars for a couple reasons. First, they seem to have a nice, modern facility. Second, after an initial low-ball offer, they got right on my trade-in value pretty quickl reasons. First, they seem to have a nice, modern facility. Second, after an initial low-ball offer, they got right on my trade-in value pretty quickly and their price on a certified Toyota was reasonable. We basically had a deal we could live with. The three stars that they lost are due to the incompetence and outright rudeness of Sam Coffman, a supposed salesperson at the dealership. Sam is the type of guy who will speak authoritatively on any subject, even if he has zero knowledge of that subject. He is a small man (in many ways) with a very large ego. He can't be depended on to do what he says he will do. If calling customers names is a way to sell cars, it's not one I've happened upon prior to this. The first sign of trouble was his outright refusal to return my key after he valued my trade. That's not how I roll. I will not be held hostage by a used car salesman. Then, he wouldn't explain certain fees included in the price, telling me I could find out about those in the finance office. Further, he kept telling me that they would remove a charge on the deal sheet for an Apex tracking device, yet that charge was never removed. He informed me that I could take the car (two possibilites, actually) home for my wife to see and drive. I did take the first one. Not only was the Rav4 not something she enjoyed driving, it was filled with toxic (to her) fumes. Obviously an air freshener of some sort that reddened her eyes and messed up her head for the rest of that day and most of the next. On an unrelated note, that car was given to me to drive with only 25 psi in one of the tires. I had to air it up when I got home. I explained the situation to Sam, and he went into great detail about detail. The process of detailing a car when it came onto the lot. Every car is done differently, he tells me. xx, I think to myself, unless somebody unleashed a torrent of bodily waste in one, it's a pretty standard operation. I asked him to check the other vehicle, a Highlander, for any air fresheners and remove them, and to air the car out with the windows down to eliminate the smell. He said he did so all day Tuesday, although I wasn't able to make it back until Wednesday. I checked in with him Wednesday morning to verify the situation and was assured the car would be ready to pick up and bring to my wife at 2:00. I arrived a few minutes early, pleased to find the car running, AC on, windows down. Within five minutes, while Coffman was getting a tag for the car, I found and removed four air fresheners from the vehicle. A simple thing that took me minutes wasn't something he could be bothered with. Much like trying to get him to return a text. When he came out with the tag, I showed him the air fresheners, tossed them aside, told him he had failed and that I wasn't bringing the car home. He called me a 'miserable human being' and a couple of other things that I won't repeat. I walked to my truck, flipping him off all the way, and left. He's not in the hospital, and I'm not in jail, so I guess it was something of a success. More
