If you have ever wondered why car salesmen have such abysmal reputations, the experience I had today will shed some light on it. I began researching a car on their website. Once I got past the incessan abysmal reputations, the experience I had today will shed some light on it. I began researching a car on their website. Once I got past the incessant pop-ups and bots asking me if I needed help, I began my search. I was looking for Ram truck, 4x4. I entered my criteria and there she was, in the very first "promoted" spot. A RAM 1550 Tradesman priced at a mere $34,000. "Wow, I told myself, this is an awesome deal, no wonder it is being promoted!!!" I then looked at the details because something had to be wrong. Under "Basic Info" I looked at "Drivetrain" and sure enough 4x4, ok good. I went further down still and looked at "key Features" and yes, it showed the vehicle being "ALL wheel drive". Awesome!!! I entered my information for the truck and then got an email showing the Ram Tradesman but as a 4x2, not 4x4. The air was let out of my balloon, and I wasn't happy about it. I got a call from the dealership almost at the very same time I realized the bait and switch. I spoke with a pleasant young lady named Anna and I proceeded to make my case. Anna was very good at conflict avoidance and offered me options we could review. "There is a 2024 tradesman and it is a 4x4, perhaps we can work a deal on that. Why don't we schedule an appointment with Dennis E., the sales manager for tomorrow morning? Dealing with him you will avoid the back and forth." I asked the truck price and it was $43,485, which is the price advertised for the truck online. I checked out the dealership ratings prior to going there and Yelp shows an abysmal 1.9 stars, mostly due to the terrible service department. I too had serviced my old truck there and while one experience had been good, the last one was also terrible. I then looked at the dealer rating on Dealerrater.com and it was pretty good, so I thought "why not?". I arrived at 0850 to be on time for my appointment. I was met by a salesperson named Johnny V. and he helped check me in. He had all details and explained that Anna wasn't in fact a salesperson, as I had thought. Johnny would be helping me with the deal, but Dennis E. was in a meeting. At 0930 Dennis finally arrives; I explained what brought me in and his reply didn't skip a beat; it is almost as if he had heard this before. "We have a third party handling this and there is a disclaimer". Dennis was very matter fact and was giving me the "I mean business look". I figured why argue, let's see if something can be done. I had test driven the other truck with Johnny while waiting for Dennis and I figured we might be able to make a deal. Dennis came back with $43,485, the very same price from the website. Insulting as could be considering the charade leading to him giving this price. Johnny asked for the advertisement I had printed out showing the error in listing for the Ram I wanted. He studiously looked at it and brought it with reverence to Dennis who swiftly proceeded to metaphorically giving me the finger. As I stood up to leave, having shaken Johnny's hand and thanking him for his time, Johnny asked if I wanted to "say goodbye to Dennis first". It sounds funny now, but I was happy and I told Johnny that I had many things I wanted to say to Dennis and Goodbye wasn't one of them. I walked out and figured that this is classic bait and switch. I plan on filing a complaint with the FTC and am most definitely sharing my story on all platforms available. If you want to waste your time and be treated like an idiot San Antonio Dodge Chrysler Jeep is the place for you. Don't believe anything you see online without double checking it because I am told that San Antonio Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram uses a third party and that they are not responsible for the lies which come out of THEIR webpage.
