I was visiting Rhinebeck from out of town when my battery died. I got a jump and brought the car to Ruge's on a busy day and without an appointment to get a new battery. They tested the battery and found out it was fine - we somehow had kicked the cargo light on while removing luggage and drained it ourselves. They got us on the road again and didn't charge us a thing for the visit. They could easily have sold me a battery or they could have charged for the service visit. They showed a lot of integrity. Every visit here shows me more of a great operation. I came in for a routine transmission service because it seemed my transmission was becoming louder overtime. Leo the lead mechanic gave it a test drive and said the transmission was slipping. I have never experienced this before and had no other issues but the louder than normal sound coming from the transmission. I was told by Leo that I needed a new transmission which I was quoted over $7000. He would not even perform a basic transmission service or check fluids. Very dissatisfied with the service here. And could not talk to a mechanic only the nice lady at the reception desk. I cannot trust this type of service it seems they just want to sell me a new vehicle. More

The team at Ruges Subaru is probably the most honest people around. I have purchased 3 Subaru's from Sam who is absolutely wonderful to work with. I even called Subaru Head quarters. probably to no avail. .The first service man said in the very least of amount of words he could possibly say to me was so nasty. my husband said "he's a mechanic" I will not ever "suck up" to any Male so they will be NICE to ME!! Had a small unfortunate issue with the vehicle at delivery that was unexpected, however it was addressed and worked on first thing in the morning. Although, during our discussions, I told them the car was in "Very Good" condition, apparently the salesman told the manager it was in "immaculate" condition. I had to laugh and asked if they had ever seen a 13-year old car in "immaculate" condition - unless it had been kept in a museum. The funniest part was that, after a 10 minute call to re-confirm numbers, I immediately drove to another dealer I had been speaking with (Brewster Subaru) who offered me $3,500!! Two hours after that , I drove our new Subaru off the lot (of the Brewster dealer) - not only with a better trade-in value, but WITH A LOWER MONTHLY PAYMENT ON MY LEASE!!! Stay away from dishonest dealers who attempt the Bait and Switch - and go to Brewster Subaru (who were very nice and did exactly what they said they would do). More

A mature woman purchasing her first car on her own. I'm, let's say a mature woman, divorced a few years now. It was time for me to purchase a vehicle and never doing this. I was leaning toward a Subaru and went to local dealer. I told him what I was interested in Impreza or the Crosstrek. Told him how much I wanted to put down and trade in. He did take me around the lot but really wasn't very helpful. I was to excited to think much of it at the time. But after I was driving away I realized he didn't even ask if I wanted to test drive one. I saw the 2 vehicles from the outside, he didn't even get keys to seat in. Ok so this is how it's done. I was on Ruges in Rhinbeck NY, website at the recommendations of a friend and chatted with Ryan and told him what I was interested in and asked him many questions which he responded to with answers and information I needed. I let him know I would be in on Saturday and he gave me numbers and ask for him, which I did. I must say what a difference in the quality of service, I liked him right away he listened and had a Crosstrek ready for me to take for a drive and I loved it. We worked out the deal and I picked it up the following Tuesday as they had to trade one from another dealer so I could get the color I wanted. Ryan stands out to me as someone who really cares to give the best service possible. One last thing, when I left my old vehicle I had left a palm cross which hung on my rear view mirror and forgot about it. When I got into my new car Ryan had put the cross into my new Crosstrek for me. That small gesture made a big impact on me. I really felt like he cared about making this experience the best it could be and it was. I would absolutely recommend this dealership and Ryan in perticliular. DF More
