This naturally limits buyer's options as well as the ability to negotiate. However, I do not believe it is unreasonable for the buyer to expect the dealership to honor existing Ford rebates OR X-plan pricing. In fact, per the Ford Dealership AXZ Plan Policies document, page 6 specifies the obligation of a participating dealership to honor the pricing with a validated pricing PIN, but I digress. To our surprise, after test driving numerous vehicles our sales rep was able to locate the exact vehicle we wanted at another dealership and she had it transferred over. It became clear early on that there was no room to negotiate on the price, which I appreciate considering the purchasing environment but I was stunned when I expected to close the deal by requesting they honor my X-plan PIN price and was told that they would not. The sales manager told me he escalated it all the way to the GM of the dealership. They also would not honor the $2,000 rebate on new Expeditions that Ford was offering. They said they would apply the rebate and pricing on any vehicle we ordered but not on one in stock so we could take it or leave it. Well, we left it, along with the future service of that vehicle as well as the service of the other Ford I had at home. It is apparent that Richmond Ford West does not put the long-term customer relationship at the forefront of decisions they make or truly offer the best price they can for their vehicles. This story does have a happy ending however. We bought that EXACT vehicle from the dealership that had originally transferred it over to Richmond Ford West! Not only did they honor the rebate, but ALSO the Xplan pricing on this vehicle, a very bad look for Richmond Ford West in my opinion. Good to know that there are dealerships out there that value the long-term customer relationship, it is just apparent that Richmond Ford West is not one of them. More
