I have bought cars over the years and this was the simplest, most straight-forward deal I've ever done. NO wheeling and dealing - the dealership went out of its way to make a fair and reasonable deal for me. John was courteous, well-informed but never pushy or aggressive. I wish all car salesmen were like him. My new (used) car was handed over fully detailed with a full tank of gas for my long drive home. The entire process took only 2 hours, paperwork and all. I went down to Monterey with my better half when he bought his Turbo Carrera. He was treated so well; every question that he had was answered promptly and any concerns he had were addressed immediately bought his Turbo Carrera. I already owned a 2005 911, and I really had NO intention of buying another Porsche (I was actually considering a Ferrari). When my BF came back from Monterey Porsche with a huge smile on his face and told me about his service experience, I was really impressed (and he's pretty dang particular). He also mentioned to me that there was a new Boxter Spyder tha I just HAD to go check out. Again, wasn't really what I was looking for. John immediately accomodated us, moving cars out of the way and letting us go for a test drive right away. He explained the nuances, features, and unique additions on it, without giving me the "hard sell". I fell in love with the car. I didn't want to tip my hand, so I told John "it's really nice" and walked away. I thought about it the whole way home, called him, asked about a trade in and what we might be able to do, and he made it so easy for me that I would have been a fool not to move forward with the new car. No haggling, no nonsense. I could not be more pleased with how I've been treated by everyone at this dealership and will be buying more cars from them in the future. Top notch in every way. More

Although I live near San Francisco, with several dealers nearby, cars are fairly thin on the ground up here. Given that cars are scarce, prices are fairly firm.. whether they are on the lot or whether you're buying a build slot several months away.. So, I decided to look at dealers slightly further away and I happened to call John Bassett at Porsche of Monterey. Not only did they have a car with a spec really close to what I was looking for, but John had a direct and non-nonsense approach to pricing! What could have been months of frustrating waiting turned into a truly pleasurable buying experience... When buying a car "over the phone" it helps if there's a clear communication. John again excelled at this; email and telephone calls were promptly answered. On the day that I collected the car, the paperwork was handled swiftly (there's a lot of it!) [In case you were wondering, there were none of the usual shenanigans where they try to to sell you clear coat, underseal or seat protection!] John took me out for a test drive and clearly explained the controls and sat nav and so on; and his enthusiasm for the Cayman and the Porsche brand shone through. So, if you are in the Bay Area, I'd strongly suggest you add Porsche of Monterey to your list of dealers to visit. It's not too far to drive, and you obviously like driving, otherwise you wouldn't be buying a Porsche! More

Always hesitant on purchasing a car from a dealer, the old stigma of "pushy, lying and greedy" holds no water with John and the guys at Porsche of Monterey. Had been looking for a car for several weeks, couldn't really decide with which car to go with. Found the now mine Porsche online and again was hesitant with going through a dealer to make the purchase (had been looking for private sale). Inquired about the car, reluctantly, and to my surprise John was nothing like I thought a salesman was going to be. Courteous, upfront and a no hassle salesman. I like that. Got to the dealership late and on the day before July 4th, not only that but my friend and I came in looking ragged from mountain biking earlier that day. When I would expect anyone else to be annoyed and want to go home, John stuck it out. Had the car out ready and waiting for me to drive. Had a price in mind already and he made it happen. It was a straight up no BS sale, all the small talk happens after I decided to buy the car. No pressure what so ever. Not only was John fantastic to work with, but met the General Manager, Larry, who also was courteous and friendly. Flew through the paper work for finance with Steve who again was just awesome and made it so easy. These guys are a model dealership staff. No upsales, no bull, and friendly when it matter, after the fact. I know that many dealerships will act like your friend before a purchase to win you over but these guys really followed through. The icing on the cake? While they washed, waxed and filled up the gas tank, John let me test drive a 911 turbo! Fantastic! When I have the money I will be back to pick one of these guys up, and it will surely be from Porsche of Monterey and John as my salesman!
