I was completely taken advantage of because my young age and took them for their word that the car was in "perfect" condition. Before I got a mile down the road the check engine light comes on. Luckily it was only the spark plugs and I replaced them. Not even a month after purchasing the car the engine blows, due to "hidden" issues with the car. I was left completely screwed, still paying on a car I couldn't drive, with no way to go to work and no money to replace the engine AND make payments. Podoll was completely dishonest and just wanted to make a quick sale and they'll lie to do it.. More

I should have read the reviews :( I purchased an '03 Honda Pilot on May 5th from a salesman named Nate. I also worked with Jose to negotiate price and complete paperwork. The car buy I purchased an '03 Honda Pilot on May 5th from a salesman named Nate. I also worked with Jose to negotiate price and complete paperwork. The car buying experience was basically just fine, although I believe I could have gotten a better price for my trade-in. I left that afternoon pleased with the experience. That positive experience, however, ended just a few days later. After 'luckily' picking up a nail in one of my tires two days after purchase, I was told by the repairmen that the tires were all grossly over-inflated to 60psi (32psi is standard) and could have resulted in a blow-out. Two days after that, so four days after purchase, the Drive light begins blinking. I took it in to a Honda certified mechanic right away the following day. The mechanics found almost no transmission fluid. After the service was complete they noted no leaks. They also noted the valve stem was missing/broken on the spare (meaning it was flat and wont hold air). I contacted the salesman twice to inform him and request to talk about the issues and got no reply. That same week, on a drive to the midwest, the Drive light began blinking again. Another certified Honda mechanic ran a diagnostic and replaced a part on the transmission (NOT covered under the warranted) that was likely made worse by the low transmission fluid from the week prior. My fiance has called twice this week and left messages- also no reply. There is risk to buying a used car, absolutely, but tire pressure, fluid levels and spare tire issues are the fault of a negligent dealership, not a risk of a used car. Buyer Beware. Have an independent inspection, get a carfax and call to confirm service done prior to your purchase! More
Sleazy Used Car Lot = Total Rip-Off This place is the worst used car lot I have ever been to. They sell polished up junkers at inflated prices and will even go so far as to list options This place is the worst used car lot I have ever been to. They sell polished up junkers at inflated prices and will even go so far as to list options that aren't even on the car when they show you KBB or NADA used car book value in an attempt to justify their high price. Other Jedi mind tricks that they attempted to use on us are "somebody else is coming by later today to look at this car" and "we had to call in some favors to get you financed" and "this price is good today only". Their so called free warranty is only good at the Rusty Bolt Garage, which is also owned by Podoll and is actually their reconditioning shop which I'm willing to bet does only the bare minimum to make these junkers show well on the lot. The GM is a total jerk and berates both his sales staff and customers with his rude and condescending attitude. To top off the Podoll sales experience, they charge a $499 dealer handling fee and can't even send the vehicle off the lot with a full tank of gas! This place is a complete joke and I look forward to driving by one day and seeing a "gone out of business" sign out front. To all prospective customers, I cannot emphasize strongly enough: GO ELSEWHERE! More
Chris Brassard presented highly inaccurate Inspection Report UPDATE as of June 2016: SHORT STORY: On April 13, 2016, I won in Small Claims Court against Podoll & Associates, LLC, Tradename: Podoll Auto Brokers UPDATE as of June 2016: SHORT STORY: On April 13, 2016, I won in Small Claims Court against Podoll & Associates, LLC, Tradename: Podoll Auto Brokers: Rescission of Contract. Unfortunately, Podoll is appealing. BACKGROUND TO UPDATE: Before the hearing began, we were ordered to try to settle. I walked in hall where Jose Guzman and Kevin Podoll were. Kevin had his back to me, was pulling out a piece of paper. He turned and said, “We have been more than reasonable with you. Our offer ($1500) still stands, and you might want to take a look at this.” Kevin handed a paper that I didn’t recognize. It may well have a forgery or doctored signature of mine. 6 statements were listed on form. 1st statement disavowed warranty of the car completely and stated that I agreed to buy the car “100% AS-IS… NO EXCEPTIONS.” 3rd statement was that I had promised to NEVER COMPLAIN about the vehicle---to anyone. 6th statement was that I agreed that if car broke in two, 30 seconds after purchase, then I now owned 2 halves of the vehicle. I don’t remember signing this form. At the least, I don’t think I would EVER agree to never complain, esp. to anyone. I have asked several people who bought from Podoll. NO ONE remembers this form. All have said that they would never have signed such a doc. One guy bought a car; the next day it wouldn’t start. He is mechanical so he got it to go. A WEEK after his purchase he was asked if he remembered this form. He said No Way he would have ever signed such thing. But, apparently, Podoll has this form waiting to submit to agencies for EVERYONE who complains about them or their cars. Either Podoll is fooling or lulling customers into signing this form, or they are forging numerous signatures. I talked with a used car seller about Podoll. He said that he was shocked that Podoll actually sold a car with a blown head gasket (which they did), but he was not surprised to hear that Podoll may be doctoring forms. Interesting and upsetting, at once. I urge ALL who have complaints with Podoll to file with the CO Attorney General Fraud Dept., the FTC and the Dept. of Revenue-Auto Industry Division. The more who file with the CO Att. Gen. and the FTC, the more they will be able to have to investigate and cite Podoll for their general unscrupulous business practices. Jose was in charge of questioning during the trial. He badgered and goaded until the magistrate had to tell him to stop trying to merely antagonize. When verdict read, Jose, ever faithful to Podoll, argued the ruling a few times until the magistrate had to explain that a Rescinded Contract means it is as if the contract never existed, so you cannot argue any points about the contract. Furthermore, it is Not allowed to argue with the ruling, the magistrate said. You could feel the anger from Podoll’s side. When leaving, Kevin tried to steal a binder of mine that he had been ordered to return. I told him I get that back, and he refused. I reached for it, and Kevin pulled it high and away, and shouted, “No!” The magistrate had to order him again to return the binder. He dropped it on a podium and left. I retrieved it, opened it and found that he had removed the Rusty Bolt inspection report---As if to hide that it didn’t exist? Not sure. Anyway--- A point that I wanted to make in court but missed my chance, so will make here was that Rusty Bolt Garage used to be called Podoll Auto Service and Detail, Inc. In August 2014, Podoll Auto Service and Detail, Inc. (with Kyle as manager) went delinquent with CO Sec. of State. In Oct. 2014, Kevin then opened up Rusty Bolt Garage, LLC (again, Kyle as manager). I think was purposeful to erase “Podoll” name from the garage to make it appear that inspection shop was independent garage, with no agenda. And now, as of March 2016, Rusty Bolt is delinquent with CO Sec. of State. I am thinking that a 3rd shop (yes, #3) has been opened now. Also, the day after the hearing, Podoll as "Larry" posted a fraudulent 1-star review on Google about my mechanic (not listed here because I don't want his name anywhere near Podoll's). Review in midst of ALL 5-star reviews sticks out like sore thumb. Then on May 9, 2016 Podoll again got up nerve to post 1-star review as "Har J." on Yelp. This person made up a story about a "break system flush" gone bad. My mechanic generally doesn't even recommed this to be done. "Har J." said my mechanic held his car hostage and charged hundreds for what was supposed to be an oil change only. "Har J." also said he was afraid for his life because the repair was so badly done.... Sounds like Rusty Bolt Garage work (see below). Yelp now has this on their Not Recommended pages. My mechanic retains 5 stars. These reviews serve as evidence of how shady and vindictive Podoll can be, and I have informed the FTC and CO Att. General about them and other shady practices of Podoll. Up until my small claims case, I suspect that Kevin has mostly gotten away with things. And I hope that my comprehensive review will help people to know what they are getting into with Podoll. I see by “usedcarblues” reviewer that Jose has been let go as of late May 2016. But, given Jose’s loyalty to Podoll, I would venture that he has not gone far from Podoll’s life. Maybe he is not working there anymore, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jose could still work behind the scenes. When this all started for me, I found a “Samuel Hicks” 5-star review for Podoll, posted on Google in late January 2016. Sam had left Podoll in the spring of 2015, went to work for Rocky Mountain, then Lakeside (both are Auto Brokers), but he was still willing to write a fraudulent review for Kevin in 2016. I talked to a very helpful rep. at Google who deleted Sam’s review entirely. And, yes. I have screenshots of its past existence. Also, it was Jose that Kevin put in charge of questioning. Jose attempted, on behalf of Kevin, to get a lesser penalty from the magistrate. Jose was the one who filed for the Appeal. Jose was the one who said to the court that Podoll ordered transcripts in April 2016. But now Podoll has told the judge that the transcripts won't be ready until the end of July 2016. (Hard to believe since all transcripts companies are supposed to have them ready in 30 days after request...) So Podoll got an extension for the appeal that they wanted in the first place. I am still waiting for this nightmare to be over. Original Review, with occasional edits to add clarity: November, 2015, I was at Podoll with a friend. We had both been there before, separately, and we both very much liked Dustin. I was interested in 2003 Honda Element and my friend, very naively said to me that I didn't have to get the car inspected by my mechanic since dealers do that for you. I was going to call my mechanic when Chris Brassard, the finance manager, came out of his office to interrupt. Chris said, "I couldn't help overhearing. I think I can help you out." Then Chris said that Podoll does have all their cars inspected because they want to take care of their customers and something along the line of wanting to sell quality used cars. Chris went on to say that Podoll was just a small, family owned business, so they had no mechanic that worked there. He then showed me an inspection report done by Rusty Bolt Garage, showing that before the car was put on the lot Rusty Bolt put on new brakes, installed new windshield and changed oil. All else "Good" on the Rusty Bolt inspection. (I had no idea at that time that Kevin Podoll was the Registered Agent for Rusty Bolt Garage. Nor did I know that his brother-in-law, Kyle J. Henggeler, was the Recon Manager for Rusty Bolt Garage.) I liked Dustin very much and I had seen many good reviews for Podoll online. I did also see some very negative reviews--but those looked so, so overwrought that, very naively, I didn’t believe those as much as the calmly written positive reviews. --- So I trusted Chris and the Rusty Bolt inspection report and bought the car (cash). I said to Chris, “All right, I’m trusting you because this is all my money.” I was so wrong to have trusted him and that Rusty Bolt inspection. And I was so wrong to have trusted all those good reviews online. I have since found out that Podoll, in 2015, offered to pay $20 in gas in exchange for good reviews on Yelp and Google. I have also found out that, in 2015, Podoll held contests to see which salesman could solicit the most people (regardless of whether they bought a car or not) to give Podoll 5 stars on DealerRater.com. And yes, I have Facebook screen shots of both solicitations. Big Lesson is: when reading reviews of Podoll take note of the specifics of bad reviews; though many are rants, they contain very valuable, specific information from which to learn. And be aware that a positive review might have been written by someone who never even bought a car. –Or worse, that the reviewer had been compensated for writing a good review (which is an FTC violation). In addition to Facebook posts, Podoll salesmen have also asked customers in person to write them a great review online for contests, etc.---putting nothing in writing anymore about soliciting reviews. In fact, the day I picked up my title, last December, Dustin asked me if I would go online to write a good review for him so that he might win a contest; I also understood that maybe I could win a gift card or something. Likely, I would have given Dustin a good review anyway because I thought he was a good guy. However, a few days later the car overheated in snowstorm. I pulled over immediately and called Podoll. Jose Guzman told me to only leave message on Warranty company voicemail—they would not be able to help me over the weekend. So that is what I did. I let engine cool for 20 minutes at a time and limped home. Next day found zero antifreeze in radiator and reservoir, so I filled both. Auto parts store staff said might be blown head gasket to begin with---what with gunky oil cap and fact that antifreeze totally depleted after 3.5 weeks. I had to fight with Jose Guzman about getting Podoll to pay for a diagnosis at the warranty shop since, get this, the warranty does not cover costs for Any Diagnoses. But warranty shop is Not allowed to do work until diagnoses are done. When I got upset about running out of coolant, overheating in blizzard and now finding that I had to pay for all diagnoses AND $100 deductible, Jose yelled: “What do you expect? You bought a used car.” Jose finally yelled, “All right. I’ll pay for the diagnosis!” and hung up the phone. I asked the warranty mechanic, Brad Perdue (owner of BK Automotive, LLC. Tradename: First Rate Auto Solutions) if the car may have blown head gasket. He said, 3 times, there was no indication of that. Instead, he tried to diagnose the car, first, by driving and driving car, with engine light on--hoping to get it to overheat. When I asked if this would hurt the engine he replied, no. Because I had filled with antifreeze, car never overheated again. First Rate Auto Solutions owner also said that he had 25 years’ experience and that auto parts store staff were salespeople, not mechanics. First Rate Auto Solutions kept the car 4 days the first time; said was sticky thermostat and camshaft, VVT issues. Then car got leaks and recurring engine light so that car was in and out of warranty shop over about 1 month. In this time, First Rate replaced VVT parts twice more. When engine light kept going on and off, on and off, still, Brad did a Relearn on the engine---He said that the engine just wasn't accepting the new parts so he had to do that. So---- in and out of warranty shop 4 times total in less than 4 weeks. Finally, I wised up and told Roman, rep. for warranty company, Autodyne Corp., that I didn’t trust First Rate’s work and I was going to take to actual, independent mechanic. The Independent, Reputable shop said: there is no good reason to replace VVT parts 3 times--should have been an easy fix. And no reason to a Relearn. (A second reputable shop corroborated those facts to me, too.) Then, in his own General inspection, the Real independent mechanic found dangerously leaking struts, oil leaks, old and burnt transmission fluid and much more. Real mechanic asked if I could see if I could return car for full refund. I asked, and Jose Guzman and Chris Brassard said “No.” In fact, Jose said, ‘You’ve been driving the car for 2 months and now you want to return it?’ Jose didn’t acknowledge that half the time, the car was in and out of warranty shop. Days after the honest General Inspection and 7 days after First Rate did the “Relearn” (which may have been a “Reset” that wipes out the codes… Not sure about what First Rate did, really), the engine light returned, again; I informed Craig of Autodyne Corp., that I would take back Real mechanic on next appointment date, which was a few days off. I also informed Craig that since the Brad had driven car with engine light on, I was going to have to do that, too, since my appointment was not for a couple days, and I had to work. Craig was not concerned about that. On the morning of my appointment with Real mechanic, the engine light went off. Unlike First Rate Auto Solutions, the real mechanic said he could not diagnose without light On (could not be in “Off” mode). Again, I spoke to Craig and let him know the light was off. Craig, again, was not concerned, saying only that it could be as simple as a loose gas cap. I let Kevin know that light was off and that I was then driving around to see if I could get it to come on--- so that I could get finally get a true, accurate diagnosis. I drove up to a reputable Honda dealer to get their input on value of car, with now known, multiple defects; he said maybe 2- 3 K tops---to a private buyer. The Honda dealer said he would never take the car for his lot. Leaving the Honda dealer, the light came on again. I immediately drove to the real mechanic who then diagnosed misfiring cylinders and blown head gasket--- as I had been warned about by auto parts store staff a month before. So now--- I am looking at thousands MORE to repair--- car is worthless. It is likely that the car was sold to me with blown head gasket and that was why I ran out of coolant completely after only 3.5 weeks, driving in city only. Then, to continue, for some reason after blown head gasket diagnosis was done by Real mechanic, the Craig of Autodyne said I had to call a 2nd company. The 2nd company (Auto Dealer Solutions, LLC) had very frightening guy, Dave Ballurio, who yelled that I broke the car---that I was responsible for the blown head gasket because I let the car overheat, unexpectedly in a snowstorm---No matter that the car had Zero coolant that day and that was why the car overheated. Dave said this was all my fault, and, in fact, he said there was nothing wrong with the car when I bought it. How could I ruin a good car so quickly??? Dave of Auto Dealer Solutions then added that he hoped I wouldn't break anything more on the car. So--this has, indeed, been a nightmare and I hope to wake up soon. I found out later that Dave Ballurio owns both Autodyne Corp. and Auto Dealer Solutions, LLC (ADS). In fact, by CO Secretary of State records, it appears that Auto Dealer Solutions, LLC, is Parent Company of Autodyne since David Ballurio is registered agent of both AND… “ADS Ballurio” delivered docs on behalf of Autodyne to Sec. of State. After all this, Podoll says that am lying and have even posted a response to my BBB complaint on the BBB website that if I don't stop they will be "forced to sue for defamation." But I do not lie. And because I don’t lie, I didn't expect seemingly kind people to lie either. I actually still have hopes that Dustin is a good guy. He has been the only who has treated me with respect both before and after the sale. Jose Guzman said, “What do you expect? You bought a used car.” Chris Brassard said that Podoll had a great reputation and that a few bad reviews don't really mean much since people don't really go online to make good reviews, only bad (see above for mention of paid and solicited reviews by Podoll). Obviously Chris and others at Podoll do not feel the need to actually give good customer care after a dangerous, shoddy vehicle has been sold---because they don't take notice of bad reviews---and they solicit many of the good ones to compensate. As far as Kevin, it took him over a week to return my calls---after I had gone ahead and filed complaint with State, thinking he would never call. Dustin, on the other hand, has been the only one to apologize for the condition of the car. He said that really thought that car was good quality, and he seemed to be genuinely sorry for my troubles. And though Dustin believed that I was too hard headed not to First accept Kevin Podoll’s offer of some money for head gasket and leaking struts, I was not exaggerating that Podoll took ALL of my money—because I naively trusted them—and I was not prepared to spend Thousands, yes Thousands, over Kevin's offer. Have heard of head gasket, machining and replacing parts running all the way up to $3000--depending on extent of damage. And struts alone can easily be over $1000. Current and perhaps conservative estimate for head gasket, struts, various oil leaks and coolant issues is $3800 (which is still over half the cost of the car). This does not take into account the need to deal with dirty, burnt transmission fluid, dirty brake fluid, etc. Also, the thousands over Podoll's offer, that I would have to pay, only account for repairs needed now; being based only on one general inspection and a diagnosis of blown head gasket. Because car appears to have never been maintained, it is very likely that more and more serious and very expensive issues are about to occur. But, I saw no way out---Kevin said he would not take the car back. He also said that he would not even give me trade-in value on the car because I wrote negative reviews online and complained angrily to his staff about the car. This bit about not helping me more due to negative reviews is illegal since businesses are not allowed to punish customers who write negative review, but there it was. And it was with a heavy, defeated heart that I did recant and say that I would take this offer—hoping that maybe I could get a dollar amount closer to actual beginning repair costs at some point. I knew that after the barest minimum of repair was done---possibly head gasket without machining, which I know is a bad idea, but I have no money---Anyway, after the barest minimum was done I was going to sell the car as a Mechanic's special and take a huge financial loss. At the least, I thought, I would be done with the car. However, when Kevin got Dept. of Revenue complaint on his desk (a complaint I had informed Kevin about previously), he took away the offer, again, saying that I was a liar. So, now, I am left with no money and an inoperable car in my backyard. Now, one more thing to say, which may be surprising if you have made it this far: I have talked with 4 other people who have purchased cars from Podoll and I have heard of a 5th. Two got a good car. Two others got what I got---a nightmare. The 5th person, who I heard about, got a really poor quality car and nightmare expense, which is also sitting on property, not working. So, it is true that Podoll can sell a good car, But Podoll can also sell a really poor quality car. A major problem is that Podoll says all their cars are “quality used vehicles,” and this is not the case. Based on the small sample size I know about, it may be true that only ½ or less of them are. So, if you would ever go to Podoll, be prepared to have a 50/50 chance of getting a good car –or a nightmare. Could really be a toss-up. Don't trust when they say the car is good. They may be naive, like Dustin, or they may not care if you get you a good or poor quality car, as long as they make the sale. It's really is crucial that everyone gets a REAL independent mechanic to inspect car before deciding whether to buy or not. Yes, an independent inspection could run you $100-$135ish, but that is a very, very small price to pay for being accurately informed about any Podoll vehicle, and for avoiding an expensive nightmare that could cost you thousands. Please do not trust when they say the car is good, as I had done, and please don’t trust Podoll’s own inspection. Rusty Bolt Garage, (of which Kevin Podoll is the Registered Agent) did not document the leaking struts. Nor did they disclose that the car had a poor suspension and obvious oil leaks, burnt transmission fluid… and the obvious fact, to ANY honest mechanic, that little to no maintenance was ever done on car, and on and on. 2 cars and both have fallen apart My friend has bought 2 cars from this place the first one she bought 1 year ago and has to sell it because she can't afford to put anymore money into My friend has bought 2 cars from this place the first one she bought 1 year ago and has to sell it because she can't afford to put anymore money into it and the one they just bought about 2 months ago has been in the shop 3 times already needed a new clutch and now it needs a new timing system which is 1900$ her husband only drives it to Denver and home and its been in the shop and out of service for 4 out of the 9 weeks they have owned it and when the weather is nice he rides his motorcycle. And they got the warranty but it only covered up to 3000 miles and they told her that her husband has driven 6500 miles in 9 weeks and 4 of the 9weeks its been in the shop so they won't cover the repair. I've had my car since August and haven't driven 4500 miles and my car is driven 7 days a week so how is this possible that hers is been driven 6500 miles in 4 weeks and driven 4 days a week maybe this is bull.
