On April 2nd I happened to come across ta Ram 1500 that I was interested in purchasing. I called Performance in Delaware and asked to speak with the sales manager and was transferred but it went to voicemail was interested in purchasing. I called Performance in Delaware and asked to speak with the sales manager and was transferred but it went to voicemail and the voicemail was full. I called back and explained to the operator that I tried to speak to the manager but could not get through. She said he was busy making deals and I replied that I am a customer and would like to make a deal. I asked that she contact the sales manager and ask that he would give me a call. Shortly thereafter I was called by J*. I explained that I was trying to get in touch with a manager to discuss the purchase of a truck. I specifically asked if he was a manager. He replied that he was the Commercial sales manager and said the sales manager was not available. He offered to help. I told him that I was interested in the1500 and made an offer. He said he would get back to me. He then called me back and said that the offer was accepted. At this point we had a verbal agreement for the sale of the car. We discussed the financing next. He asked that I complete an online financial application. After completing the application, I was told that Performance could offer 5.99% through BOA. I sent J* a text with a copy of an offer from PenFed for a 60-month loan for 5.14%. He responded that he could lower to 5.49%. He also stated that Performance does not take out of state financing. I pointed out that the difference between 5.14% and 5.49% was approximately $480 over the term of the loan. I offered     1-To purchase the car with 5.49% BOA loan through Performance if they could reduce the sale of the car by $480.     2-To purchase the car through Performance with a 5.14% interest rate.     3-To ensure that the credit union check to Performance goes through smoothly. At this point he stated, "I'm sorry, company policy we can't accept outside financing". He then contacted me stating that "(thumbs up emoji) can match 5.14, made an exception." So, at this point we had agreed on the price as well as the financing. I asked that he send me the paperwork at which time he told me he could not sell the car to me online. He said that there was an appt to view the truck the next day. He said , "We are a first come first serve dealership". He indicated that even if there wasn't an appt, the policy at Performance was not to do online transactions ("with no appointments on a vehicle we can make some exceptions and do a Docusign"). I was ready to purchase the car. I had made an offer that was accepted, arranged financing that was accepted and was ready to sign. 1-J* lied about his position. I told him that I was looking for a manager and specifically asked if he was a manager. He said that he was the Commercial sales manager. On the Performance Delaware website, he is listed as a sales associate. 2-J* lied about it being against company policy to accept outside financing. I emailed a sales manager who stated that out of state financing "should not be a problem". 3-After agreeing on a price and arranging financing, J*would not sell the truck to me indicating that online sales were only performed as "exceptions". 4-If there is indeed a policy that indicates that if there is an appointment, no other sales can proceed, I should have been informed of that at the very beginning. I spent the entire day, going back and forth with J*, filling out and releasing financial information to J*/Performance Delaware and to the credit union I was interested in. I acted in good faith but would never have done that if I knew that the sale was impossible. My credit rating has now been impacted unnecessarily. I emailed the CEO of Performance as well as the General Manager and Sales Manager at Performance Chrysler-Delaware. No response to provide an explanation or apology. This must be acceptable practice. Unprofessional, dishonest, manipulative.... Take your business elsewhere.... More
