I go to Paul Conte in Freeport to routinely service my vehicle. For the first two years they were great. Never had any issues with them. I use to praise them and intended to upgrade my Escalade with them. vehicle. For the first two years they were great. Never had any issues with them. I use to praise them and intended to upgrade my Escalade with them. I do not know what went wrong but my initial advisor left the company and since then, it's been a total nightmare. To make a long story short there was one time I went in for an oil change and received the vehicle back with the same computer reading that I came in with stating the oil life was at 7% so they had to reset the computer leaving me to question whether the oil change was actually done or they just simply forgot to reset the timer. I was convinced they forgot. Another time I went in to have a wheel alignment done, after purchasing new tires, and was told in order to do the alignment I needed to replace the front tie end rods. I was also told my shocks were "busted" and needed 4 shock absorbers, that I have an oil cooler gasket leak and needed brakes and rotors. I was just in their service center 1 month prior and was surprised that they never mentioned any of this (specifically the leak). Why wasn't this suggested before? All I know is that there were no codes on my vehicle for the suspension or brakes and there were no visible leaks coming from my jeep. Didn't know what to believe. My jeep drove fine and I knew I had more time on my brakes but he told me my suspension was so bad it was dangerous to drive the vehicle like this. It was a Friday during Easter weekend and since he said the tie end rods wouldn't be in until Tuesday, I wanted to hold off until the following week. I was quoted close to $7K to do the entire job. I ended up doing everything he advised and did the brakes later. I had no choice but to leave the jeep because he said the jeep was on the lift and they already started the work. I was upset because I had my personal and business possessions in the jeep and didn't give him the ok but said if there is a leak I need it fixed and no harm could come getting parts upgraded for maintenance. I was trying my best to avoid getting stressed. Maintaining my jeep is important to me but the cost didn't sit well so the next day I contacted my advisor to go over the charges because it didn't add up and it seemed to be way too much. He ended up calling me back 2 hours later that Saturday and said the vehicle will be ready in an hour. I got the jeep back and immediately noticed the alignment was not done. I had to hold the wheel slanted to drive straight. I notified my advisor and took off from work to go back that Monday because when I picked the vehicle up that Saturday everyone left for the day except for the receptionist. My advisor was not there on Monday so Danny addressed my immediate issues. Danny resolved my immediate issues. Although those issues were addressed, the vehicle did not feel as if new shocks were put on. Three weeks later I started feeling the bumps on the road and now my jeep felt bouncy. Then I got a "SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM" code on my jeep. At this point I was furious because I needed my inspection done, just spent over $5K with the dealer and couldn't use the jeep. I should not have gotten this code or be having this issue. I went to 4 inspection places who told me that the shocks needed to be replaced and I took videos of what was pointed out. I wanted to severe ties with this dealership but was advised to go back there to resolve the issue. When I went back to Paul Conte they took my vehicle in then later brought me to the back and said the stickers on the absorbers were new and they swore to have done the work. They stated that the part went bad and since it was under warranty they'd replace it at no charge. They also advised that I replace the right wheel/hub bearing. They said they needed to order the part and wanted me to leave the vehicle because "it was unsafe to drive". I declined to leave the vehicle and told them to let me know when the part comes in. The part came in on a Friday and was told to bring it in on Tuesday. I brought the jeep in early Tuesday morning. Paul Conte service center kept my jeep for 3 days to change 1 shock absorber and wheel bearing. Yet they were able to allegedly change 4 absorbers, fix an oil cooler leak, do an alignment and tie rods in 1 day. While servicing the vehicle, my advisor contacted me and said I need a new strut mount and a strut. He said when they tried to replace the part the strut mount broke. He alleged it was rusty and corroded. He said I can't get the vehicle back unless that part was changed (forced to incur more charges). I then questioned him about the strut mount and the strut and was confused because I know I was told the absorber was being replaced at no charge. I also asked if the strut mount was rusty and corroded then why you didn't pick this up the first time you allegedly changed the absorber. He confirmed it was a different part which now brought my bill up to $2,157. I picked the vehicle up from the show room and discovered he LIED. According to the invoice I was charged for the shock absorber. The same shock absorber under warranty. Now when I started my jeep, the engine sounded weird but strange that there was no check engine light. Vehicle now drives erratic. I own a car scanner so I pulled over to see what was going on and now the P0341 code comes up for the cam shaft sensor. I have reason to believe they swapped the sensor so I can come running back to them to make up for the part they had to change for free. Not only that, I looked up all the part numbers on the invoices and noticed they had been overcharging me for parts. Dealers are allowed to charge a certain percentage on top of what they got it for but they went overboard. I checked the MSRP at GM Parts and saw the cost of these parts. After bringing it to the attention of the managing supervisor I was refunded partially for services that added on but now once again I have a vehicle that I can't drive because I have to find someone competent to find out what is going on with the cam shaft sensor. A problem that was not there when I dropped the vehicle off and reason why I do not like leaving my vehicle in the shop for days without being worked on. There was no reason to keep my vehicle there that long. These people are very dishonest and deceitful. I refuse to deal with this location anymore. The reason I chose to service my vehicle at Paul Conte was because I expected to receive quality service. I don't mind paying top dollar if the job is done correct but when I pay top dollar and get my vehicle back with defects, issues and work uncompleted it's a disgrace, a total disgrace and entirely unacceptable. Bad for business considering my jeep was purchased under my business and used for business. I would have walked away from all of this but after getting my jeep back with another issue that was not present prior to dropping off the vehicle voided that all out. More
