After checking trade in values online i stopped in Parks Toyota on 12/13/220 to confirm their offer on my 2020 Subaru Outback. DJ looked over the car and both confirmed its condition as well as the offer. He did mention that there was a possibility the trade in value could be revised at the time of delivery. I told him he could have the Outback that day to avoid any possible reduction in the value. He left to check with his boss and came back a few minutes later. He stated they did not need the car that day and they would commit to the trade in value when my new Sienna arrived. I asked, are you sure, it is no problem for me to trade it in now. He assurred me they were good with the value and I could keep the Subaru until the Sienna arrived. With that committment I agreed to pay MSRP plus $1810.20 in fees and put down a $1000 deposit. I was told the deposit was non-refundable. We brought the Subaru home and parked it in the garage where it was going to stay until the deal got done. My plan was not to use it so mileage would not increase and its value would remain the same. I also wanted to be sure nothing happened to it. Six weeks later we were informed that our Sienna had arrived and drove over to pick it up. Some time had passed since we arriived so Bruce went to check on things and came back with a new appraisal of the Subaru. The offer was now a staggering $4278 lower than the number we had agreed to just 6 weeks earlier. The car had less than 200 additional miles and was in the exact same condition with no accidents. I told Bruce we had agreed on the price in December and your folks had committed to that trade in value. He went back to discuss with his folks and DJ came over. I reminded him of our agreement and he recalled the conversation. He confirmed that they had agreed to it but did not expect that big of a change. I told him I expected them to honor their commitment. He went back to check with someone and came back some time later to let me know they would not sell the Sienna at our agreed upon price. I later learned it was the sales manager Tom Scheffer that would not agree to honor our agreement. I put a call into the General Manager Louis Hernandez later that afternoon on Friday 1/28/2022 and Monday 1/31/2022. As of Wednesday afternoon 2/2/2022 he has yet to return my call. More
