I have an unusual request when buying a car: it must have no discernible smell - so the new car smell must have dissipated (which generally takes abo I have an unusual request when buying a car: it must have no discernible smell - so the new car smell must have dissipated (which generally takes about 3 years) and the previous owner needs to have not smoked in the car or been a heavy user of perfume or cologne. My request to the dealer is that when a car comes off lease or is traded in, I want to check out the car before they do any cleaning on the inside, because cleaning liquids usually have a pretty strong smell. I've spoken to at least a dozen dealers over the years, and most of them don't seem to get it - and can't be bothered to deal with a request that's a little out of the ordinary. And then I found Maurizio Ranieri at Park Ave Acura, who was happy to work with my quirky request, and was a pleasure to deal with. I've just bought my second car from him, and the second experience was just as good as the first. Bravo! More
