I recently purchased a certified pre-owned 2023 Ioniq 5 with a mere 17,000 miles from Ontario Hyundai. I was assured by the dealership that the car had not been a buy-back and was in excellent cosmetic, me with a mere 17,000 miles from Ontario Hyundai. I was assured by the dealership that the car had not been a buy-back and was in excellent cosmetic, mechanical, and electrical condition. However, during the 70-mile journey back home from the dealership, the vehicle displayed an electric failure error. Concerned for my safety, I brought the car to a local Hyundai dealer the following day. The technician's assessment revealed not only the presence of an ongoing issue but also signs of prior attempts to address the problem. Additionally, the service records indicated previous interventions for similar issues. This discovery raises questions about the thoroughness of Ontario Hyundai's purported 173-point inspection for all Certified Pre-Owned cars. It seems either these issues went undetected during their inspection process or, more concerning, the dealership intentionally withheld information about the car's history of problems. In either scenario, such oversights or lack of transparency can be deemed unprofessional. My expectation when investing in a certified car is that it should meet high standards of technical, electronic, and overall condition. I plan to submit a claim to Hyundai US. More
