Hello Doug. My name is Marty babineau I am GM of both Northend Mazda and Northend Subaru. I have your call on tape, as you are aware, when you call it tells you this call is taped for training purposes. I listened to the call twice, and I invite you in to listen to it yourself. Mike did give a price in the begining. He stated the sticker price was 25 and change and there was about a 1400 dollar mark up. we would be about 200 dollars higher than that. he then told you our delaer fee, tax and reg. you mentioned you were only concerned about our price and fees. He indeed gave that to you. Again, I invite you to listen to the whole call. Your answer was you were trying to get a "substancial" discount on the 2010. Mike was trying to explain why there is not a "substancial" discount on the 2010. At no time was he giving you a run around. The reason he asked if you would committ to a price, because had you, he would have brought your offer to a manager. as he stated in the beginning of the call, our 2010's were going for a couple hundred dollars over invoice. He also stated there was a 1400 dollar markup in the vehicle. So in closing he did indeed give you a price. When you mentionsed it was only worth your while if the discount was substancial, its his job to explain, how we arrive at our price. I am sorry you felt offended. Our customer satisfaction index is in the top 1% in the country. Surely our intent was not to give us a bad reputation. I would gladly work with you personally on this, or discuss it with you. I care about every customer. I sincerely apologize if Mike in any way offended you. But again, He did give you our price. Marty Babineau

He did not give me an exact price out the door on the specific vehicle. "About" and "around" is not a price.

Doug, His exact words were "the car is marked up about 1400 dollars, and we would sell it for 200 dollars over invoice". He does not have access to the accurate invoice, so he was allowing the word about, to protect him, if he was off $30.00 or so. He was clear with everything with you. You mentioned you would only buy a 2010 forester if the savings were "substantial". Mike as a professional, tried explaining to you why there is not a "substantial" discount on the car. Which you replied "you did not need an education on subaru". Well if you were looking for a "substantial" discount on the car, I would have to agree with Mike. He was only trying to explain the value in the 1200 dollar discount. As you can see we have an impeccable reputation. As far as out the door, he indeed explained our fee, tax, and reg. He asked you if you had a trade, because that would affect the tax. So in closing, I apologize if you feel differently. I am sure you will find the right price and car to fit your budget. thanks Martin C Babineau

Why is this review being allowed? we have the taped conversation that shows that this review has zero validity. The customer was unhappy, becasue we refused to give him a "substancial savings" Again he was given a firm price $1300 dollors off of sticker. He was explained any other fees he would be responsible for. The rambling that the customer claims, was my cosultant trying to explian why Subaru's did not come with a substancial savings, even though it was a leftover 2010. He is 45 miles from our dealership, and called on a price. We gave him that. We are askin that this review be taking off. there is no merit to the review. We have the recording and emails to support our case. And his comment that it should take ten seconds to get an answer is amusing. Can he call a realtor and ask "whats your best price" And then call 10 local realtors on the same house? Our salesman tried to educate the buyer of how easy it was to shop on line with consumer sites such as Edmunds.com, and KBB.com. There was no rambling. Also might it be noted, that the same customer all ready had a price from our internet dept, on the same car.

Also the customer never visited our dealership. he made a phone call, hung up on the salesman. How does this amount to a review. Also the reviewer does nothing to answer my email dated 11/11 at 10:56? Why? So again there are no ground to allow this review without any merit.

Oh, so stabbing potential customers in the back is a common practice for you guys? Nice.

North End Subaru responded

where are we stabbing customers in the back? we are both business men. I have every right to protect and defend any reamrks a customer makes. Especially if they are untrue.First of all you are not a customer. secondly you claim you are 15 miles away. Your business is 29 miles from us, and your home is 32 miles from us. I can take constructive critisism, but we will not sit back and let a customer use the internet to defame our dealership, or our practices. Dealerater.com allows a process to have the review taking out of the system, if they find it to be false or other causes. Again, as i offered you in an email, I would be more than glad for you to listen to YOUR own conversation. You stated your self you were highly reccomended by a "friend" that says it all. We had one of the only 2010 Goresters left, and when we did not offer you your "substancial" savings, and tried to educate you as to the pricing of a subaru, you hung up. Just because you have found a forum to rant, does not mean as the GM i cannot protect our dealership. I am curious, where are you being stabbed in the back? If you have an issue with our dealership,I would gladly address it. As a driving instructer, I am sure you would protect your business from false accusations. I have that right to protect mine.

I want to take a moment to apologize to you personally. We strive to meet our customers expectations at all times, and clearly we failed this time. As with all customers we value and care about them. I know you run a business, and have a great reputation in Boyalston and the neighboring towns. I have always heard good things. Also I compliment you for your choice in automobiles. I would not hesitate to refer business your way. After listening to the call again, I can see where Mike said "about a $1300.00 mark up, and we would expect about $200.00 over invoice. That is not the way we should be answering calls. The correct reply should have been a price, plain and simple.I will use this as a training tool with my staff. Its unfortunate it cost me a customer, but it will also help me to better train my managers, and salestaff on how to answer the questiosn being asked. I do appreciate you considering us, and I have learned from this experience. Sincerely Martin Babineau
