Worst car buying experience!!! Worst car buying experience! The manager (Muhammad) was rude, not friendly and lied straight to my face. I went in on a Saturday 12/6/2014 and was Worst car buying experience! The manager (Muhammad) was rude, not friendly and lied straight to my face. I went in on a Saturday 12/6/2014 and was not excited about any offers at that time, so decided to try later. I get a call back on Monday 12/8/2014 from a new sales associate with a offer I was way more excited about, so I left work and headed straight down to to Toyota San Diego. First person I see is "The manager (Muhammad)". I told him why I was there and who I was there to see. He sits me down and say that that offer is not accurate and started to try to sell me something else. When the sales rep that called me comes out to show me the paper work he actually called me about, Muhammad is trying to hint to him that he called me about a totally different car. Finally I had to walk out. Please do not go here. If you do, please do not speak with Muhammad. I ended up buying a care from Toyota Carlsbad that same night 12/8/2014 and Frank was great. More
Made an appointment at 7:30 AM to get an oil change and was told at the time of the appointment it would take about 1 hour, but when I arrived there at 7:25 AM I was told it would take 2 to 2:30 hours beca was told at the time of the appointment it would take about 1 hour, but when I arrived there at 7:25 AM I was told it would take 2 to 2:30 hours because of a long line of cars. The point of making an appointment is to get service then not 2 hours later. The service personnel didn't care so I am taking all my business trucks somewhere else from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More
I had the pleasure of leasing another vehilcle from this dealership its my third one. My salesman Michael was very knowledgeable and very courteous. I would defiantly recomend family and friends to purchase dealership its my third one. My salesman Michael was very knowledgeable and very courteous. I would defiantly recomend family and friends to purchase or lease a vehicle from this dealership. My experience was painless it was like clock work no heavy sales pressure like I've experienced from other dealerships, so that would explain why I come back. My deal was done in a reasonable amount of time, so that I was still able to enjoy the California coast since I travel in from Arizona. Thanks again for a great experience from sales to finance. My daughter was called by her friend who was now a salesman at this dealership about coming down to look at a car. By days end, this company sold a young 19 year old a used car that would end up cos salesman at this dealership about coming down to look at a car. By days end, this company sold a young 19 year old a used car that would end up costing her 30K dollars. 360$ month car payments for 7 years with 5K dollars down. Her credit applications stated she made 800 and took home 550-600$ per month. Because "it doesn't matter" they added 2500 to the income stating it was "household" income and "everybody does that". Unfortunately, she signed away her chance to bring the car back. Later that day she calls to bring the car back. She is told to wait. The next day as the parent I go with her to ask them to take the car back. We offered to pay the restocking fees and any other costs to the dealer. Dallas the GSM, forcefully refuses. He says "we didn't' do anything wrong" She was "so happy". It wasn't that, the girl made an uninformed choice and needed financially to bring this car back. The only choice after hours of discussion was to buy another car. They only have 1 car under 10K to choose from. She is bullied into taking this car or the one that will cost her 30K…( a used scion, which we all know was worth about 14K at best) When we signed back the Scion and started to purchase the other car we wanted to sign the contract under California Law to give her 2 days to decide if she wanted the car and was flatly refused to be allowed to sign that document to pay the cost. We were forced to refuse "or the deal is off and she can take the scion home". Oh, Did I tell you this dealership the year before planned to buy my SUV for 10K dollars, I made an appointment to bring it in 3 days later ( from a Friday to a Monday) and when I got there the man who gave me the deal was not there. They refused to give me the 10K and offered me 9K. It was not a good day then either. More

Advertised vehicle with 78K miles on it, extra features package, excellent condition. Went through the process to ensure I was qualified to buy the vehicle prior to going to dealership as its quite a dist package, excellent condition. Went through the process to ensure I was qualified to buy the vehicle prior to going to dealership as its quite a distance for me to drive, contacted the dealership inquired on vehicle, the assured it was there and in good condition. However when I went to the dealership to purchase, it had almost 4k miles more than what was advertised, there was food and debris still in the seats and center console. There was a huge hole in the bumper and significant scratches not from normal wear and tear but clearly there was an incident/accident or major abuse. The advertised package didn't mention that the sun shades had all been ripped out for the exception of 1. The molding in the storage area was loose and coming off the body of the car, the window seals were coming off, the heated seat didn't work, the alignment was horrible that it pulled so hard to the right you knew the steering was going to go. The car was filthy but with some amoral sprayed over to make it "look" clean. And the dealerships solution to make sure it was cleaned and detailed before it left!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME... the blatant lies and misleading from this dealership and its management is deplorable. I would not recommend ANYONE going here, while we were there another couple was leaving due to unhappy service. MIND YOU THEY LOWERED THE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE ON THERE WEBSITE BUT STILL HAVE THE WRONG MILEAGE LISTED!!! AFTER THEY WERE MADE AWARE _ CLEARLY THESE ARE THE SLIME xxxxx OF CAR DEALERS!!! DON'T GO THERE!! *****UPDATE******* After this post I called the dealership to reiterate my disdain. I spoke with JAMES KING who stated he was unaware of the car and the problems, (Mind you the phone call I placed isn't even 24hrs after this incident took place) HOWEVER HE was the one who came out from the little closed off box to try and convince my husband to still buy the car. AGAIN ANOTHER LIE!!! More
Better late than never to let San Diegans known about the terrible treatment my son and I received in 2005. Toyota San Diego had the only green Scion XB at that moment in San Diego. My son wanted this vehicl terrible treatment my son and I received in 2005. Toyota San Diego had the only green Scion XB at that moment in San Diego. My son wanted this vehicle, so Father and Son head over to buy it. The sales man was great but Jeff Stein and his assistant come over to finalize the deal. Since my son was buying the car I told Jeff S. and his assistant Manager we only want the car and nothing added to the set price especially when we deal with the finance office. Jeff says to us ok the Scion XB and warranty they said this over and over to us. I had no idea what they were doing when they said warranty. I thought they meant the warranty that comes with the car 3 yr or 36000 miles. I said yes just the car and thinking why are they saying warranty that comes from Toyota with every new car. In the finance office all of a sudden the price is $1500.00 higher. I get very surprised and shocked and ask why. The gal says that's for the extended warranty that you agreed to buy. I'm very upset and say I never agreed to a extended warranty. I demand to see Jeff Stein and ask him why he tried to trick us to buy something that I explicitly told him that my son didn't need. Jeff was afraid to talk to me so he sent the assistant manger. I asked him why did you treat us this way, all he said was don't buy the extended warranty. I said that's not what I'm asking you, Jeff Stein and you pulled a fast one on my son, answer why you did this and I said I want an apology from Jeff. The assistant now had a very bad attitude toward me and said no apology we didn't do anything wrong. I said ok I'm making a complaint to Toyota Corporate about your low sales tactics after we buy this car. He leaves the office comes back very quickly and says that Jeff Stein won't sell my son the car. I ask why he says that his salesman and the dealership won't receive their bonus for the month if a customer makes a complaint. My son and I confront Jeff Stein and ask him to sell the car to us, Jeff says I'm protecting my salesman, they will lose all their bonus money for all the Scions sold for this month just for one complaint. Then he told me to leave the property. The next day I get a call from the salesman that helped us at Toyota San Diego and asks me why I didn't buy the car. He had no idea about what happened he was shocked, he said don't worry I'll get Jeff Stein to sell you the car. Five minutes later he calls back and very sheepishly says I'm sorry I can't sell you the car goodbye. I called another dealer and ask them to sell my son the green Scion. They call me back and say at the present time Toyota San Diego is the only dealer in San Diego that has one. Then the salesman says that TOSD will not trade cars and he said they don't trade with any dealer. He said all the local dealers will trade cars but not TOSD. After my son got off work he and a friend drive to West Covina Toyota and buy the car because they were the closet dealer that had one. The sales people there were very friendly and told my son that they sell cars with the lowest prices. This is called volume sales the dealership makes a little profit on every car but sells a lot of cars per month and this way they make their profit. Then he said that Scions are the exception because every dealer has to sell that brand at the same price. There is no haggling over price because they already have a bare bones price. This dealership treated my son excellently without any problems. I did call Toyota Corporate and told them what happened, the rep told me that concealing the extended warranty the way Jeff Stein did was very close to committing a crime. He asked me if he could locate the car my son wanted, I told him we already got it. He then said that he gets a lot of complaints for Toyota San Diego . Back to the present time my wife wants a crossover SUV so on 5/4/2013 I call 3 Toyota dealers including Toyota San Diego talk to the salesman about the RAV4 and ask if Jeff Stein still works there as general manager he says yes, so I told him what happened to me. I ask him to see if he remembers me. The salesman calls back and tells me that Jeff Stein didn't remember me. I tell the salesman I won't be going to this place because Jeff Stein still runs it ! Renee is the reason I am writing this review. She is an amazing sales woman with the utmost respect for what you want in a vehicle. She paid attention to every request I had, showed me all the options, an amazing sales woman with the utmost respect for what you want in a vehicle. Buying a new car should be a fun and exciting experience, unfortunately with Toyota of San Diego it definitely was not. The sales experience was OK at best. Jeff P. was the salesman and seemed eager to s unfortunately with Toyota of San Diego it definitely was not. The sales experience was OK at best. Jeff P. was the salesman and seemed eager to say whatever I wanted to hear to get me to make a purchase. I later found out that he made bogus claims about fuel economy features of the vehicle and with gas prices like they are these days this is a huge disappointment. As I was buying a used vehicle, I had him write some paint repair into the contract using a process he described that would make a huge improvement in the scratched panels. I will say that he gave me a great deal on my trade, but was barely willing to budge on the sticker price. I left the dealership that night with a good feeling about my purchase, but not great. It was all downhill from there. 3 days later, a day after Jeff P. said he would call I was contacted by the dealership to setup an appointment to have the paint repaired. I brought the vehicle in the next day and left it for them to work on all day. I returned at about 5pm that night and the service manager handed my keys back and said "Sorry, nothing we can do about it, better talk to your salesperson." They didn't even attempt a repair, not a single thing that was described to me during the purchase process was carried out. I walked back into the dealership looking for my salesperson who was nowhere to be found. I asked the front desk for a manager and they called one who after 10 minutes never appeared. By chance Jeff P. happened to call the front desk while I was standing there and I was able to talk to him. I was assured he would handle it first thing in the morning and he would call me to reschedule. By the next evening, I hadn't received a call so I called the dealership and got him on the phone once again, he explained he hadn't forgotten about me and would call later that night. He never got back to me. The next morning I went back to the dealership and asked for a manager, after waiting around for another 10 minutes one finally showed up. Ross came out and inspected my vehicle and told me that it would be a very involved process to fix the scratches, which is what I was told from the start and why I had it written into my contract. He clearly didn't want to deal with my issues and after 20 minutes of back and forth he agreed to elevate the issue to another manager. Again, I had to wait for a call back. I was actually called back the next day, on time, by Ross. He told me their paint guy would be in the following Friday between 9am and 12pm, and I was to call Matt, the service manager, to setup an appointment and they would do their best to fulfill the terms of our contract. Friday rolled around and I called exactly when instructed, I was told by the switchboard that Matt was at the dealership, but not at his desk. I left a message explaining the situation and all of my contact information making sure to let him know I needed to be there by noon to meet with their paint guy. Once again, there was no call back. This has all taken place over the past 2 weeks and I'm sick of it. I do want compensation for the broken terms of the contract, but I don't want Toyota of San Diego touching my vehicle. At this point I have no recourse but to post reviews and spread my experience. I highly suggest using a different dealership as this one, across all departments, has zero concern for the customer after the sale and apparently has no problems lying to make a deal. *****UPDATE***** It's been about a month and a half and since I bought my truck and I finally got the dealership to make good on their contract. The general manager, Bernie Perri, contacted me directly and was willing to do whatever it took to make me happy with my purchase. I wasn't thrilled about having to go back to the dealership, especially after my initial review, so we worked out a deal to have the work completed by a third party and Toyota San Diego would foot the bill. Bernie was very responsive to all of my communication and promptly sent me a check after I had the work done. More
