They knowingly sell them with repair Here’s what you should know before purchasing a car from National Motors: 1. The cars are in as-is conditions. They knowingly sell them with repairs needed, and should you notice them they will issue a “we owe” note at the time of sale to fix said issues. While this fixes visible problems noticed pre-purchase, it leaves the buyer on the hook for unseen damage or other issues. Since purchase (only two months ago) our car has needed a tire replaced and the front wheel bearings fixed, and the car is barely three years old with only 40K miles. 2. The sales people are also not knowledgeable about their product. When asked if they had other keys than the valet key used on the test drive, the answer was “I don’t know.” We forgot to make sure they had other keys, which they did not, and we are now on the hook for purchasing two new FOB keys at a cost of around $600. 3. They will tack on a “inspection fee” of $400+ dollars to the purchase price at time of sale. 4. If you do get a “we owe” sheet at time of sale, good luck scheduling the service. It took six phone calls and a series of texts before I was able to get the vehicle in for a half-hour fix-up. 5. They will not bother to call and let you know your tags are in. It took another four phone calls to find out (the day before our temp tags expired) that our permanent tags were there. 6. They are extremely unprofessional and disorganized. Their employees use personal email addresses and cell phones, voicemail boxes are full, and messages are left unanswered. To sum up, pay a little more and get your car from an established dealership. I will never buy a car here again and will recommend to anyone looking for a vehicle to shop somewhere else. I am trashing the license plate frames and scraping their name off the back of the vehicle as I refuse to be a driving advertisement for a company that offers this level of service. More

My vehicle is solid, bu One of the managers, Robert is a disrespectful clown and a liar. He will say one thing then get convenient amnesia afterwards. My vehicle is solid, but buyer beware. I checked out several that were better suited to auction duty... one even had water damage visible under the trunk carpet. They will tell you a particular vehicle is available to get you in the door, even when they know it was sold or pretend it was a system malfunction. The cars are also filthy, inside and out.. their detailing is a joke. Don't ask them to touchup a spot, the paint won't match... tires don't match... the list goes on. You may find a diamond in the rough, but inspect them all carefully. Robert will make you a "deal" on the downpayment to save the deal and sell the car. Then you get harassed about money you don't owe them. They even attempt to hold your tags until you pay. THIEVES!! ROBERT will also instruct you to lie to the finance company regarding you paying a downpayment or the amount of your downpayment. Stay away from this place. More

DO NOT DEAL WITH ANTHONY HARTWELL/NATIONAL MOTORS Worse car deal before it even got started. My mother contacted National Motors for a vehicle as a graduation gift. Anthony "Bait and Switch" Hartwell Worse car deal before it even got started. My mother contacted National Motors for a vehicle as a graduation gift. Anthony "Bait and Switch" Hartwell was our salesman. He is a habitual liar. Anthony told me that the car I was interested in, a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze - $10,500 was at another location. He proceeded to show me a car that was more expensive, a 2014 Hyundai Elantra $13,000. I went on the website to look at the car that initially caught my interest and the ad on the website stated that the 2016 Chevy was in-fact at the current dealership/location. (FIRST LIE) I called Anthony out on this and he quickly made up a lie that the car was sold earlier that morning (SECOND LIE) To this day the initial car (2016 Chevy) is still listed on the website for sale. The dealership keeps their cars in the back of the building so that their customers cannot see what is there and what isn't. I chose a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze instead -$12,000, which was listed for more than the 2016. Anthony told us that that vehicle was at the other location as well, but he will bring it over to his location the next day. The website stated that the car was already at his location. Anthony so-called "Got an approval" and sent us back to finalize the papers with "Guy", the head scam-artist at the dealership. Guy had my mom sign the papers without disclosing any of the details about the loan. He also pressured me for half of the down-payment before I could even see the car the next day. When getting home, I changed my mind about the Chevy Cruze and decided to get the 2014 Hyundai Elantra. Anthony said it would be an easy fix. My mom told him that she would come back in and sign the paperwork during the weekend so that my father could look over the paperwork with her. Anthony told her that her "approval was expiring" and the paperwork needed to be signed the next day (Rushing her to sign). My mom told him that she had to work during the time that he wanted the papers signed, so Anthony insisted that he come to Delaware (to my Mother's job) to do the paperwork for the auto loan. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. My mom agreed under duress because she thought the loan would expire, as Anthony told her. She wanted to do something nice for my graduation. The next day he had her sign a contract for the vehicle and tax $13,999 in the lobby of her job. After signing the contract with the first price, he then had her sign a contract for the vehicle costing $24,000. Anthony drove the car himself off of the dealership lot in Maryland and parked it at my mom’s job in Delaware. My mom called Guy later that evening & Guy rudely told her that there was nothing he could do and there is no cancelling the loan. He also stated that he had no knowledge of Anthony even selling the car in Delaware. Anthony called my mom minutes after and she explained that she is unsatisfied with signing a $24,000 contract, and wanted to cancel the contract (within 48 hours) Anthony told her that he would refund our $3000 and pick the car up from my mom’s job the next day. The next day Anthony told my mom that Guy would issue a refund of my $3000 down payment & send her a screenshot as her receipt. She told him she wanted to see the money back in my account and he agreed. My mom repeatedly asked Anthony was he coming throughout the entire day and he continuously made excuses. He finally arrived at the end of the business day and called Guy in front of us to issue the refund. Guy sent an email for me to sign off that I received my refund, which I did not. Therefore, I refused to sign the receipt stating that I received a refund. The bank explained to Anthony that they didn't see a refund nor did she see a pending refund. He gave her the transaction id and she said she did not see anything. Anthony then wanted to take the car, without assuring that I receive my refund as promised. I refused to get out of the driver’s seat because I did not have my $3000 refund. Guy was on speaker phone with Anthony yelling and speaking unprofessionally. He told Anthony to call the police and report that car stolen. My mom called the police for him, as she did nothing wrong. Anthony guarded the car so that I could not pull off and leave my mom’s job. The police arrived and told Anthony that he was wrong for selling a car at my mom’s job and he could not hold us hostage from leaving with the vehicle. He explained to Anthony that it is a civil matter and threatened to arrest him if he did not leave. The bank stated that there was never a loan to begin with, as they never received any paperwork. I also noticed that the door on the side of the vehicle is a different color than the rest of the vehicle. Hold on to your money and save yourself the hassle. Do not do business with Anthony Hartwell/National Motors. I am currently waiting for my refund to clear on my account. If it does not, I will file a complaint with the Delaware court system, as the car was sold and delivered without my moms permission in Delaware. More
Fantastic Service!! Wonderful service, large selection of vehicles- and if they do not have the specific car you're interested in...they will go out of their way to find Wonderful service, large selection of vehicles- and if they do not have the specific car you're interested in...they will go out of their way to find it for you! They never say no. I do not look forward to the paperwork process when purchasing a vehicle- I feel like I am signing my life away, and feel as though the process is not in favor of the consumer, but National Motors staff made me feel so comfortable and explained in detail every page I had signed. I've honestly never felt more comfortable purchasing a car like I did here. I just love how smooth and fast they work here! My car...LOVE IT. It is so gorgeous. Came with warranty but never used it- never encountered any issues and have had it for over a year now. I'll never go anywhere else for purchasing a car- Ive told all my friends and family about them a few have listened and purchased their cars here as well, they feel just the same as I. More

AVOID NATIONAL MOTORS! ALL OF THEIR LOCATIONS!!! My car buying experience with National Motors was the WORST car buying experience I have ever had. The service I received from the car salesperson was My car buying experience with National Motors was the WORST car buying experience I have ever had. The service I received from the car salesperson was pretty good. I talked with her and pretty much only her but that was mainly because with the sales people there, if you are not their client, you don't exist. My problems started when I took the car home. The service engine light came on immediately and it would take a month, 5 trips back and forth to the Nottingham and Ridge Rd. location, over $300 of my own money and 1 day off from work to fix the car. As for the Nottingham location, the Manager stop returning my calls or even tried to lift a finger to help me once the car left their lot. As a whole, National Motors' are shifty, cheap, crooks out to make a quick buck and they don't care who they step on. I never would have thought in a million years I'd be sold something broken and the person who sold it would make it seem like it was my fault and my responsibility. Word of advise to those who reads this and decides to purchase a car anyway, stay away from the luxury models specifically BMW, Mercedes. They are not equipped to fix problems with those cars. More
