Maintenance trip Brought my 2009 Matrix in for oil change, alignment, airbag recall, some small service items. Was given 5 star treatment by everyone I came in contact Brought my 2009 Matrix in for oil change, alignment, airbag recall, some small service items. Was given 5 star treatment by everyone I came in contact with. Because the airbag recall took a long time, the dealership provided a loaner vehicle so there was absolutely no waiting involved. The service adviser, Mike Young, kept me informed as to the status of the vehicle. Will continue to use this dealership for all future service. We are looking to purchase another Toyota in a year and will definitely be heading up to Alton. More

My Toyota Dealership I have been buying cars from Mungenast going back to 1983. Everyone there is friendly and makes me feel welcome. No one touches my cars but my Toyot I have been buying cars from Mungenast going back to 1983. Everyone there is friendly and makes me feel welcome. No one touches my cars but my Toyota dealership. I have them serviced by the book and they never break down. Mike recognizes my voice on the phone and schedules my service needs around my schedule. He makes sure any discounts available are applied even if I am not aware one is available. I am a happy customer. More

We looked at other car lots and their salesman didn't explain anything about the cars. Your salesmen continued to work for us to get a good deal. This is our third car to purchase from your dealership. We will continue to recommend your dealership to our family and friends. On a final note we would like to thank Alex. More
Never again. Terrible customer service from Mungenast. When we went to buy our Prius C, had an interesting experience at the dealership itself...and then, when we Terrible customer service from Mungenast. When we went to buy our Prius C, had an interesting experience at the dealership itself...and then, when we found issues a couple of weeks later, the dealership was INCREDIBLY unhelpful and unresponsive. The salesperson that we were working with the whole time wasn't even there when we cane for our appointment to look at the car, and the person filling in was clearly unaware of our situation. He sat us down to do the paperwork before we had even seen or test-drove the car, and then we were told that the price was no longer negotiable because the salesperson we originally were talking to was not there, and the sales manager had already gone home. This issue, in itself, isn't enough to warrant a one-star review, but the actual problems with the car certainly are. A couple of issues with our car: *We were not told that it came with only 1 key fob until AFTER we signed all of the paperwork. It costs upwards of $300 to get a 2nd key programmed by the dealership. *Several components (plugs of some sort) were improperly installed (upside down), leading to heavy, heavy flooding in the interior of the car. After emailing, leaving voicemails, and sending pictures, this issue has STILL not been resolved. I'm talking an INCH of standing water on our carpets, and we now fear that there is mold underneath because of the improperly installed plugs. To fix this, the carpet needs to be ripped out, the plugs reinstalled, and the carpets replaced. An expensive fix, in other words. *The front door on the driver's side doesn't lock. AT ALL. Mungenast is happy to send us monthly reminders to schedule this $555.49 fix--something that we absolutely should have been informed about before we purchased the car. BUT, like I mentioned, we were rushed through the selling process and this forced us to not be able to properly look at the car. This is a TOYOTA car, from a TOYOTA dealership. There is no excuse for rushing us through a sale, with a non-negotiable price, only to be told/find out of these errors afterwards. Furthermore, after not receiving ANY communication in response to our repeated voicemails and emails, we will not be going back to or recommending Mungenast anytime soon. More
Aweful. Rude. Cocky. It was a terrible experience we drove an hour to come by a car from Jared he had already had somebody working a deal on the vehicle when we showed up It was a terrible experience we drove an hour to come by a car from Jared he had already had somebody working a deal on the vehicle when we showed up earlier than our appointment was set we have to speak with the manager the manager was just as rude as Jared with his arrogance in the fact that what were they supposed to do not sell the car to somebody else I will never purchase car from them or refer anybody to purchase car from them ever More
Mungenast Stealership SCAM - Unethical Service Department I took my vehicle in for an important Toyota safety recall for the passenger airbag. the recall notice was sent to my home from corporate Toyota. I I took my vehicle in for an important Toyota safety recall for the passenger airbag. the recall notice was sent to my home from corporate Toyota. I scheduled the appointment and took my vehicle last week to Dave Mungenast Stealership in Alton Illinois. . Following the important safety recall repair I received a "complimentary" Toyota mechanical check. The estimated amount of their highly recommended repairs was in excess of $800. Here's what they said was wrong (listed as a number) and here are the facts (listed a "Fact" and followed by an alpha (letter). 1. Mungenast Stealership: Oil is "highly discolored and appeared to not have been changed for 24Kmiles. A. FACT: I changed my oil using Synthetic oil 2 weeks ago and the oil had less than 300 miles use. 2. Mungenast Stealership: Front Brake pads were "dangerously low" and were "2-3 millimeters thick" (.078-.118). B. FACT: Brakes pads were changed by me 2 months ago and just to be sure I checked my brake pads after returning from this stealership and they checked 9mm (.335 of an inch). 3. Mungenast Stealership: Tires have "dangerously low tread and are below the tire wear tread bars (FYI - the tire tread wear are molded into the tire so one can ascertain when the tire tread is at a level indicating a need to replace the tire). C. FACT, the tires have tread remaining in excess of 3/16" or .1875/4.672 MM. The replacement recommendation is 1/16" or 1.5875MM. D. Mungenast Stealership: Front tires are wearing uneven and an alignment is required if new tires are to be installed. Bottom Line, Mungenast Stealership didn't know they were dealing with a retired mechanic with 34 years of experience. I strongly advise against anyone taking their vehicle to Mungenast Stealership unless they have intimate knowledge of their vehicle because these slimeball unethical thieves cannot be trusted. find another Toyota dealership for recall repairs even if you have to drive farther away to avoid being lied to. I might video record and document a vehicle's stats prior to taking it in for a shakedown and submitting my research to the BBB and the local new media. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Anyone rating this stealership as "good" for service is either clueless about mechanical issues, has money to burn, or is an associate of this stealership, or all of the above. I did get a nice free car wash though :) More
Waste of time My husband called this location today and spoke with a salesman named AJ about a particular vehicle we were interested in. We would be driving a prett My husband called this location today and spoke with a salesman named AJ about a particular vehicle we were interested in. We would be driving a pretty good distance and don't have time to waste because we have to make a purchase today. He specifically asked AJ if a certain payment range would be a possibility. He was reluctant to say yes or no, because as we all know it's based on our credit and down payment to a certain extent, however, we knew that the price would have to come down just a bit for us to land in that range. AJ told us to come on in after my husband thoroughly set the expectations and asked if there was wiggle room in the price, in which we were told there was. An hour later we are in the dealership and crunching numbers. We were having a conversation with AJ and I had mentioned that if they come down a bit and we put a little more down, that the payment would work. The sales manager, Oli, interrupterd our conversation (nice guy) and basically told us that there is absolutely no wiggle room and that he will wholesale the vehicle before he drops the price any. Funny thing is, AJ said there is less than $1000 that they could come off just minutes before the sales manager said zero. Which is accurate? This would have been nice to know before we wasted 2 hours seeing a vehicle that didn't make financial sense. AJ could have easily told us this from the get-go, but instead he figured if he could get us in, he could sell a car. Very misleading and a waste of time. More
