Thanks to Tony in the Service Department the next day for listening to me explain my story & asking him if it was worth my time to drive 2 hours to the Dealership for service & getting me in touch with the right people. Joseph refused to respond with any information requested by the customer, even with something as general as a quote for a specific car. When I inquired about two different models, he responded with phone calls and emails for me to call and a random unrequested information about his language ability (???). Over the phone, Joseph sounded very condescending from the moment I said hello. He sounded obviously frustrated after hearing I was still split between two models, and was very chastising throughout the whole phonecall. In addition to his tone and attitude, he was as unhelpful as ever, refusing to provide any information requested, telling me my reasons for why I should not do business with him (my location and my interest in multiple models). He did not sound like he wanted to help me narrow down my choices and therefore gain my business or work around my distance, which I was completely willing to do. Other dealers near his location (Evanston, Grand, Berman, etc) have worked with me with frequent and helpful communication, including the necessary information (quotes for several models, package information, etc.) and appropriate tone in responding to my inquiries. I will most likely be making my purchases from one of these other dealers. I highly recommend future customers to work with dealers other than Joseph Lee at Muller Subaru to receive the baseline respect and assistance needed in making their purchase. More
I didn't actually purchase from Muller, but I would, if given the opportunity. Muller was one of a handful of Subaru dealerships I was working with in shopping for my new car, and I found my onl I would, if given the opportunity. Muller was one of a handful of Subaru dealerships I was working with in shopping for my new car, and I found my online interaction with Ann Karpiel to be very pleasant, professional and accommodating. In the end, I bought from a dealer closer to home rather than trekking all the way up to Highland Park to save a hundred bucks or two, but I would definitely recommend Muller to anyone looking to purchase a Subaru. More
Muller Subaru - and Bob Szmarek - are terrific! In 2008 or so I bought a used Subaru Forester that I had found through an online site. It ended up being at Highland Park Motors (I think that's what it was called then) and my sales guy was Bob Szmarek. This year i was ready to buy a NEW Subaru Forester. I did a lot of research (Consumer Reports, TrueCar, etc) and when clear on the car I wanted, the amount I wanted to pay, and the amount I expected to get on a trade in (Edmunds) I called Muller Subaru and made an appointment with Bob. He was the same friendly, practical, easy to work with guy I remembered from before (and he looked no older! how did he do that?!). We test drove both the Outback and Forester (I was 95% sure I wanted the Forester but I'm a big 'due diligence' gal). He had a clearly thought out route that would allow me to experience many facets of the cars in a short time. Decision made (yep, Forester) we then went about negotiating. It was so easy, fair and pain-free! I showed him what I wanted to pay and why, he went over the numbers, did a grand total of 2 'trips to the manager" and I got a BETTER deal than I expected! Then, the whole experience got even better yet when the 'delivery assistance expert', Austin, helped me understand all the fancy new electronics (cars have changed a lot in the last 11 years). AND - I got a $25 gift care for doing the test drive and will get another gift care for coming back to do follow-up questions with Austin! What a great deal! I HIGHLY recommend Muller Subaru and Bob Szmarek! More
Everything one could hope for. I had a leak in my back left tire. I took it in to Muller and had Tony Rinchiuso as my service consultant. He explained everything and went overboard in his courtesy and service. I told him not to wash the car since they used automatic rollers and he had it hand washed! He kept me informed of the work and gave me transportation while the car was being fixed. Just great service, the best I have ever had in over 45 years of owning a car! More
Unexpected Service I stopped by the service department a few weeks ago and ask if someone could look at the scratches on my hood. After checking them out, Alex went back in the shop and came out with a can of waxing compound and proceeded to start rubbing them off. Although he kept working away at it, I thanked him and said that I would buy a can and finish the job. I thanked him again and tried to give him a few dollars, but he refused. Even though I didn't lease my Forester at Muller (which Alex noted), l intend to make them my first visit when I'm in the market again. Thanks again Alex! L. Smith More
Purchased new Outback under less than ideal circumstances My wife and I were looking for a new car this year after I was in a fairly bad head-on collision and our previous car (2008 Prius) was totaled. We wer My wife and I were looking for a new car this year after I was in a fairly bad head-on collision and our previous car (2008 Prius) was totaled. We were considering a new Prius and a used Volvo V60 and decided, on a whim, to stop in at Muller Subaru. I'm so happy we stopped! We met first with Ben, who gave us all the details and convinced us to consider adding an Outback to our list for comparison. Ben was great - not pushy at all, and didn't try to tell us that our other options were wrong. He just gave us the facts and put us at ease. We were driving a rental at the time, after the accident, so we had a pretty tight schedule. On top of that, I was pretty well-sedated for the injuries from the accident. Ben was extremely patient with us and made us very comfortable. He had to be out of the office the next week and, since we had to purchase a car right away, he introduced us to Bob to follow up with if we decided to go with the Outback. Bob was just as patient, informative, and friendly as Ben and he helped us answer some questions as we finalized our decision. I can't say enough about both Bob and Ben, and the dealership. This was BY FAR the best experience I've had with a car purchase. There was no pressure at all, and they made what was a difficult situation go extremely smoothly. More

Disappointing Experience My daughter bought her first car recently, a 2013 Subaru Outback from Muller Auto Group. She paid for the vehicle in full with a personal check (no f My daughter bought her first car recently, a 2013 Subaru Outback from Muller Auto Group. She paid for the vehicle in full with a personal check (no financing). Because she banked out of state, Muller informed us that the funds needed to clear to their account before they would release the vehicle.....that's understandable. She was also asked to fill out a credit application in the event the funds didn't clear.....which proved to be superfluous. The thing that was most disappointing though was that the money cleared to Muller's account the day after she wrote them a check, but Muller wouldn't release the vehicle until they received a copy of the returned check. As a result, we waited an additional five days to take possession of the vehicle. During that time, Muller had my daughter's money, a completed credit application, and her car. Our bank said they had never dealt with a dealership with such a goofy policy. The dealership did end up releasing the vehicle six days after my daughter paid for it, but only after our bank met Muller's demands and sent a copy of the returned check. This led to multiple phone calls and trips to the dealership which was a big hassle. Their policy is outdated, inflexible, and highly impersonal. Because of this experience, we do not intend to return to Muller in the future. More
