A few weeks ago I was searching for a 1 year old Yukon. We arranged an appointment time as we would be driving down from Fargo/Moorhead, and Clem reached out the day before to verify the appointment. Along the way we stopped at a couple dealerships to look at pickups in order to compare them to Yukons. By the time we arrived at Forest Lake I had decided a pickup was what I was after. When I arrived Clem was just finishing up with a previous customer so the timing was great. I told him I had been looking at used Yukons, but based on pricing and options it appeared a new pickup might be up my alley. We reviewed the various options in Yukons and pickups Clem had available, and pros and cons of each configuration. Based on my needs I needed a standard bed which are harder to find. Clem had 1 in stock that we took for a test drive, and after receiving a thorough explanation of all the gadgets and options available it gave me food for thought. Clem said to give it some thought and let him know what I'm looking for and he could find me my perfect vehicle. The following Monday I emailed Clem what I was looking for, and he responded in short order what he had found. Everything was match! Upon my own research I realized that finding a vehicle with the options I wanted proved to be quite difficult. In fact the next closet place to Minneapolis that had a similar vehicle was Michigan and then Idaho! Clem gave me a price which was very competitive but it was contingent upon him being able secure a dealer trade to acquire the truck. In the meantime I had been checking with a couple other dealers, including a relative of mine, to see what they could find me. All 3 dealerships found the exact vehicle that Clem had found me, but all were priced slightly higher. I called Clem and let him know I'd take it! As it turned out Rock Hauser, the manager, had to work some magic to pull off the dealer trade. My wife and drove back down to Minneapolis yesterday to finalize the deal and drive our new truck home. Clem was an absolute joy to work with. My wife and I were hoping after our first meeting that we'd have the opportunity to purchase from Clem for the following reasons: 1. He was very informative and thorough discussing the options, and was never pushy. 2. We could tell Clem was a sincere individual. 3. We observed Clem working with a number of customers simultaneously, but he always made sure he wasn't ignoring any of them and making sure their needs and questions were answered. 4. Their were no hidden fees, or made up fees in the deal. Clem disclosed everything up front, there were no gimmicks, and in fact I ended up paying slightly less than I was quoted. Clem is a good natured North Dakota raised man and it shows with how he deals with his customers. Forest Lake Chevy Cadillac and Clem will be my first call when looking for a vehicle for my wife in a couple years. Their price and service can't be beat, and it was well worth the 3.5 hour drive from Fargo/Moorhead. I want to give a shout out as well to Jason Thomas in the finance department. Jason has a great personality and was very knowledgeable as well. More

I had it towed in on a Thursday evening with an 8am appointment to look at it. 5 days later they called and said it was indeed it was their fault, but I would have to pay 300$ for some additional work, I agreed and they again assured me that they were covering the tow. 12 days in the shop, I picked it up, at that point Ben Lowinske , the person I had been dealing with told me that they couldn't cover the tow at that time and that they would send me a check. I paid the bill. Next day he left me a message saying he was sending a check but that I owed them more money. Not the deal that I agreed to and how do you charge someone more after they have already paid the agreed upon amount? on the invoice it also stated that a multipoint inspection was done, I guess that doesn't include tire pressure because when I got home 1 tire was 15lbs low, I really wonder what else they "did" that they didn't do. Well, almost 2 weeks later and no check .From my experience, I'd say go elsewhere, unless you like shoddy work, dishonesty and total disrespect. They shouldn't be allowed to display the chevy emblem at this place, they don't live up to the name. More

DAMAGES UNRESOLVED: Had service done to my car, they didnt wash it which I thought was fishy considering it was full of salt and they always wash it. when I went to pick it up it was parked crooked in a didnt wash it which I thought was fishy considering it was full of salt and they always wash it. when I went to pick it up it was parked crooked in a tight spot. Left there to get scuffed bye all the traffic opening there car doors. Didnt think anything of it, until I took it to a car wash. Once washed i realized that someone had hit my car. I told kelly hines and he represented himself as he was gonna "take care of me" and get this estimate from his guy and well make sure well do you right... yea, until I finally get a hold of him and he tells me they wont assume any responsibility because he thinks it's the same as being parked at target.. either your mechanics or someone in your parking lot where my car was left, damaged my car. MY VEHICLE was in YOUR CARE AND CONTROL. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. Not the same as target. Because wouldn't have parked it like an idiot. They always park it out back where customers dont park. Why is this different, and why is it left with salt? To hide the damages? I guess that's what you get when you buy a $52,000 car from them and take pride in it. You get led on to believe they'll take care of you and screw you over. Me and my family and friends will keep leaving negative reviews weekly, and will NEVER return to this place. The 2600 dollar fix costed you guys a lifetime of business through a very large family in forest lake. Congratulations! More
I was skeptical... A Summary of Car Sales Around Town. I've was searching for a new Chevy Blazer and I was looking for the best deal and I FINALLY found it at Forest Lake Chevrolet. At age 55, I suspec I've was searching for a new Chevy Blazer and I was looking for the best deal and I FINALLY found it at Forest Lake Chevrolet. At age 55, I suspect I've bought at least 30 new cars between my wife and I. I'm "fiscally conservative" (some call me cheap). ;) About now, I could teach a course on it. As in, I know more about their business model than most sales people. Additionally, I normally know more about the specific car than they do. Worse yet, all too often, the aggressive advertised price you see doesn't apply to you. Like Jeff Belzer who has an aggressive price (currently) adds in a $1K hidden "trade" on their price. But I don't have a trade! That means I pay more. Or while we are talking about Belzer, they wouldn't deduct my GM lease loyalty?? xxx? Their mantra is "everyone pays the same". Well, everyone doesn't have a current GM lease. ;) I have a few other local dealer stories but nuff on that. I digress.... We all should count our blessings as the dealers in MN are more ethical than say Pheonix. I winter in AZ. On Monday, I was in AZ enjoying the winter and I finally gave up on their AZ dealer games. Like side pricing that adds $1600 for "fabric protection, paint protection, and window tinting." 95% off all the Phoenix dealers do it. Even then, EVERY dealer in AZ was at least $1700 higher priced than Forest Lake who is clearly the price leader here in MN. So when I was on Cargurus.com trying to figure a spot to buy a car, Forest Lake kept on coming up as a price leader. I bite assuming I would hear why the price wasn't real. So I called and I was told it was. Sorry, I was still skeptical. I worked with Jeff Liljander who texted me the paperwork showing the price was the price. We connected and proving he was legit so I hopped on a plane (thank you SWA miles) and drove up to the dealership. I arrived in the morning, grabbed the new Black Redline Edition Blazer (I know; midlife crisis) and I was on my way. Fast, easy, and simple. And a free donut to boot! lol All too often, I drive up to dealers with smoker salespeople in front looking for fresh meat (they walk the lot not giving you any space). Not here. Normally, I hear "sales-speak" from the sales manager with a level of "slickness". Again, not here. The General Sales Manager (I forget her name) was a no-nonsense nice person. Frankly, she didn't fit the "sales manager" persona which is a good thing. i.e., no pressure, no big voice inflections, etc. Big picture, I was delighted. Normally I find myself taking the time to write negative reviews. In this case, it inspired to write something nice. Summary: It's a great place to buy a car. In two short years, they will be my 1st call. I hope they keep their culture. More
