I really hate giving bad reviews but I had a nightmare experience with the service department at Mercedes Benz Long Beach today. Took my car in with a dead battery because a light was left on overnight. T experience with the service department at Mercedes Benz Long Beach today. Took my car in with a dead battery because a light was left on overnight. The service manager Jaysen told me that my alternator failed their diagnostic tests and a new one would cost me over $3500. Besides the outrageous price gouging, that was a red flag as I've never heard of an alternator going bad because of a light being left on. He told me he double checked everything with his foreman and that it definitely needed a new alternator. I ended up calling BenzWorks in Huntington Beach for a second opinion and they told me they'd do the same fix for half the price. The service manager told me that my car wouldn't hold a charge so I paid $200 to have it towed to BenzWorks where they ran all the same diagnostic tests. The tests were completely clean. Passed all inspections. The battery was fine. The alternator was fine. They charged me $0 and I was able to pick it up and drive it home the same day. You expect a dealership to price gouge you but to lie about failed tests and quoting thousands of dollars in repairs for a vehicle that is perfectly fine? That's so incredibly dishonest and shady. I'm now wondering how many repairs I had done at this dealership that were not necessary. I love my Mercedes but this is now my second horrible experience at a Mercedes dealership in Orange County after a similar nightmare experience at Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach. We were planning to buy a second Mercedes soon but now we'll buy another brand. Avoid this shady dealership! Don't buy a car here and never get your car serviced here. More
