Just bought a new Jetta TDI. I knew the price going in because I had been to a dealer in Portland last week. Good price, no pushy sale guy. We have dealt with service in the past for our 2003 Passat and have felt it was good in keeping with the unusual engineering found in VWs. More

Recently they worked on my girlfriends car and we got problem after problem. In February of 09 she took it in and they worked on it and the bill came to over $660 after an initial assessment that it would only cost a few hundred. Had to take it back in May to fix the AC and that was another $250. Mysteriously when it came back from the AC being worked on the engine was having trouble. Ken Thomas, the “Service advisor” sent me this e-mail response: “…To repair the fuel pump relay only approx. $186.00. To repair relay and recommended relay panel approx $520.00 total. please let me know.” When we said to only repair the relay he said that did not fix the problem. So we were out another $611 for repairs which we are pretty sure resulted after they worked on the A/C (funny how the relay stopped working right after they fixed the AC, it would not start the next day). They were unwilling to do anything to help reduce the cost which is why we are recommending that no one use them. In the last 4 months we have spent over $1500 with them and all they will ever say is that they can’t predict what is going to go wrong with the car. We would never buy another car from Lithia, any of its dealers or take our cars into their service centers. If you like feeling like you are being taken advantage of and paying a lot more than you should then go ahead and use them. Also, don’t by a VW if you want a car that either falls apart after 80K miles or is easy for the dealer to make it look like it is falling apart (we are not sure which one is occurring but my money is on the later). Again, Do not buy from Lithia or use Lithia service centers in Medford, they are a rip off. More
I purchased a pre-owned Volkswagen product. The car was dirty, the multi-point inspection that they CLAIMED to have performed was not. If it was then the little fluid leaks would have been addressed or fi dirty, the multi-point inspection that they CLAIMED to have performed was not. If it was then the little fluid leaks would have been addressed or fixed--I know this because after purchased I took my VW product to a reputable independent VW shop and they pointed out all of the issues with the car--plus fluid/filter changes have not been done in a very long time. I saw that with my own eyes. Regardless, though this dealership is close to my home, I will drive elsewhere for service. More
