My wife was driving our 2006 Honda Odyssey that we purchased from used back in 2009 from another dealership. This vehicle has run flat tires with the pax system. As she and my daughter were shopping purchased from used back in 2009 from another dealership. This vehicle has run flat tires with the pax system. As she and my daughter were shopping, she had gotten a flat rear passanger tire and proceeded to the closest honda dealership (McGrath in Elgin). She pulled into the service area and was greeted by CJ Nemec. Now it was pretty obvious why she and my daughter were there, the glaring tire light on the dash as well as the flat rear tire. CJ proceeded to tell my wife that the tires need to be replaced in pairs and the vehicle was also due for regular maintenance and a timing belt etc. My wife is not a car person and she knows if anything other than a flat needs to be done, she would have me be the one doing all the leg work. However, for this case, all she needed was a new rear tire. After going back and forth with CJ, she made it extremely clear all she needed was a new rear tire. Now, we are well aware that the run flat tires are expensive so we were ready to shell out some money for the 1 tire. As part of the flat tire, the inner ring was also needing to be replaced (the car was driven no more than 15 miles with the flat as we don't live far from the dealership). After not believing my wife that she didn't drive it more than that, CJ gave us a quote to replace the tire and ring - $600. Yes, 1 tire and 1 ring, I still can't believe it. My wife texted me that she got a flat and that she has it being taken care of. I asked her how much and she said $600+ taxes. I though we were getting 2 tires for that as a year earlier i bought 4 tires and an alignment from this same dealership a year earlier the cost was $1,200 for 4 tires. I told her to hold off on approving any charges as I thought that was ridiculous. I proceeded to call another Honda dealership and was quoted exactly 1/2 the price ($300 and that was including tax). I called back and spoke with CJ and he walked me through their pricing and I patiently waited for him to finish telling me exactly what the cost was and then I asked him how he can charge exatcly 2 times as much as their competitor. This is what I was quoted- $328 for the Run Flat Tire, $200 for the inner Ring, and $75 in miscellaneous charges and a gel pack. That's over $600. I told him i could get the same work done for $300 at another Honda dealership and how could he justify taking advatage of people like that. Also, he didn't even offer my wife a loaner car as they didn't have the tire in stock and my wife had to wait over an hour with my daughter at their dealership so my neighbor could come get them. (and yes, i would have gotten them myself but I was out of town on business). Now the horrible service they provided me and my wife gets even worse. As I told them we are taking our business elsewhere, I had to figure out how to get my car to the other honda dealership since McGrath had cut the original tire off the rim. As the car was up on their service rack, they put a spare tire on it and moved it to the back parking lot, took the spare off, and proceded to place my rim with the ring back on the tire and remove the jack from underneath the car. How unbelievable is that??? I asked them if they could leave the spare on the tire so I could drive it to another dealership and I would return the spare to them the that same day as I would drive past their dealership on my way home. The said no, that's not how we do business. Really? I drove an hour to the other dealership, they gave me a spare tire and i drove back to McGrath and put a jack under my van and put the spare tire on and left their dealership for the last time. What a horrible experience that was, right from the start. We've learned 2 things from this experience: 1. Stay and do business with people you like and trust and 2. Be careful about doing business with dealerships like McGrath- How awful an experience this was. More

Had an oil and filter change on my 2003 Honda CRV. I usually bring my own oil and just pay for the oil filter and labor. During my most recent oil change,my mechanic noticed that I had the same oil filt usually bring my own oil and just pay for the oil filter and labor. During my most recent oil change,my mechanic noticed that I had the same oil filter-It was not changed during the oil change at Mcgrath. We suspect they just drained the oil and refilled it.We also doubt if they ever changed the oil.....I was billed dor labor and oil filter and had to wait almost 2 hours to get this simple routine procedure done. Have used this dealership for 3 years after buying my new van there. Everytime I bring the car in for service they forget some detail. Typically to reset the oil status so that it starts flashing at you van there. Everytime I bring the car in for service they forget some detail. Typically to reset the oil status so that it starts flashing at you in a couple weeks. Buying experience was not positive. New sales guy was great, friendly and helpful. When I finished up the deal with the sales manager I felt like I needed a shower. Buying a new car shouldn't feel like you're buying a car from "billy-jo bob" at the corner dealership. Yesterday I dropped my van off for more service, this time it was the AC and a bad tire. They asked if I'd like to wait because it shouldn't take long, I said no. 4 hours later they had not called me to give me an estimate. I called them, they knew what was wrong, but hadn't called. I told them to do the work but specified that I wanted the car back that night. "No problem" No call. I call this moring to see if its done. "All I can tell you is its in the garage, I'll call you back when i know more" I speicified that I needed the car today. Its been 2 hours, no call back yet. They have had the car for 20 hours at this point, all they are doing is recharging the AC. More
Its a BIG NO from myside and I never recommend anybody atleast to talk to these guys. They are very big game players. They talk talk and talk and never keep up the words. I walked in to buy a new Honda Ci atleast to talk to these guys. They are very big game players. They talk talk and talk and never keep up the words. I walked in to buy a new Honda Civic and I was very particular about the color. First I approached these guys and they promised me a quote and also said they got the color I was looking for. Later when I was there to buy, the quote changed to a higher price. Even though Honda of Lisle offered a lower price they confessed that they dont have the color I was looking for. So I dont have any other option except to approach these guys again. They took the deposit from me and said they dont have the car and made me to wait more than 2 weeks. Every day they tell you a new story. And finally I was pissed off with them and dropped the deal. And the other bad part of these guys is they complain about the other dealers also and just make stories out of that. They dont know how to deal with the customers and they all know is to blame their competitors. GUYS, NEVER APPRACH THEm More
