I had worked with James twice before without buying car due to dealership would not work with me with trade in. Since ownership had changed this time I was able to come to agreement with trade in offer. Much different experience. James was good all three times and I will return again if I want a new car and I will ask for him. More
Highly recommend Abel Aguilar at McDaniels Subaru Past Experiences... I have bought quite a few vehicles but the purchases are not an everyday occurrence. It can be quite difficult to navigate the w Past Experiences... I have bought quite a few vehicles but the purchases are not an everyday occurrence. It can be quite difficult to navigate the wheeling and dealing that often leaves one questioning if they have been able to get a good deal. I am fairly diligent in my research but I still feel I have been hood winked on more than one occasion into paying more than I should in the past. Typically, when I walk into a dealership and the sales agent is diligently trying to grease my wheels for their commission it and it leaves me feeling exploited. I believe it does not give me a good fighting chance to purchase the vehicle I want for the price that I am willing to pay. I will not purchase a vehicle from the dealership when I face this scenario. Also, I feel that there is often an unspoken assumption that because I am a woman I can be deterred from my objective to get what I want and for what I want it for. I do my research because I want a fair price. After all, a vehicle starts depreciating as soon as you drive it off the lot. Needless to say I have walked away from many a vehicle for the poor negotiating practices, pushiness and lack of overall customer service. Non of the scenario above was the case at McDaniel’s Subaru on Killian Rd in South Carolina. MY EXPERIENCE AT MCDANIELS SUBARU I walked into the dealership and was immediately greeted by one of the managers who called the sales agent. I had previously set up an appointment online with the dealership to save myself the pain of dealing with hungry sales agents. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE SHOPPING FOR A VEHICLE TO DO THIS! From the beginning Abel Aguilar was the utmost professional and extremely knowledgeable about the product he sold. He is so good in fact that I came in looking to test drive a used Acura RDX and the next day I came back for a 2019 Subaru Outback. A car I never even considered when deciding on my next vehicle. Abel was never pushy, rude or obtuse. As a matter of fact, I requested to test drive the Subaru because I had never driven one before. Abel is a laid back, straight shooter, and as I mentioned before, a knowledgeable sales agent. Any questions I had, such as on functionality, mechanical dependability, reported issues, etc he was able to answer and address. When he did not know the answer, he immediately went to the source to get answers. I had a good competitive bid (DO YOUR RESEARCH) so that made the negotiations painless for me. Abel brought the offer to his manager and after some consideration and discussion among them they agreed. The paperwork was done in no time and there was little to no waiting time. Abel displayed excellent time management skills and focus. To see this capacity and skill from someone so young is impressive. As a retired Veteran, part of my duties included mentoring troops to develop this kind of discipline. I can tell you that I do not come into contact with the efficiency, professionalism and motivation he displayed very often. You are blessed to have such a valuable member as part of your team. I am thankful for such a positive and professional group at McDaniels Subaru. I hope I can enjoy my Subaru Outback for many years to come. More

I have never known anyone to replace lights that often. I have requested calls from managers and Mr. McDaniel to call and discuss this matter no one has returned my call. I requested a call August 2, 2018 because I got pulled over again for lights being out. With this type of service if I had an enemy I wouldn't even refer them. Service Manager need training on how to deal with customers. More
Poor customer service in service department I have McDaniels service department for my 2008 Subaru for many years now and always found it to be a pleasant experience - until today. The customer I have McDaniels service department for my 2008 Subaru for many years now and always found it to be a pleasant experience - until today. The customer service has disappeared. It doesn't even feel like the same place. The bill was more than I understood it to be. I say it that way because I was told that the total would be $488 to redo the front wheel bearing- they just didn't include the $150 diagnostic fee.My last visit in January 2017 was to replace the front axles, among other things, and the customer service was terrific. This visit took twice as long as I was told and no one bothered to update me on the reason why. It seems that they have fallen into the trap of believing that since they are the only Subaru dealership in Columbia they don't need customer service. I had to go outside Columbia to purchase my current vehicle while Stivers Subaru was in Columbia. Looks like I still need to. More

He was extremely knowledgeable about the Subaru brand and made all attempts to ensure we purchased the car we wanted not just a car. On our first trip we told him it was simply a research visit to physically see the car we were considering. He did not send us annoying emails or pester us between visits. On our return trip he explained all the differences between a standard model Forester and a Premium Model. He discussed the pros and cons of each option and allowed us to pepper him with questions. He did not argue when we asked to see the payments for both the Premium Model and the Standard. As well as offered to find us a model with the darker interior I was requesting. Since waiting was not an option we decided to go with the car we had test driven. More
