He e-mailed and c Thursday, May 31st, I made an appointment with John Exum to view a CPO Sonata on Saturday, June 2nd through the Hyundai USA website. He e-mailed and called to confirm the appointment on Friday, June 1st, and told me to ask for Gene (because Gene handles all of the "VIP" appointments) and that they had the vehicle I was interested in seeing, and he would set it aside for me. When we arrived on Saturday and asked for Gene, the sales manager, Felix, said they would find him. After about 5 minutes, he sent Jamal over to take care of us, because they couldn't locate Gene. As we started to walk away with Jahmel, Gene came into the showroom, and the two of them nearly came to blows over who would get to help us find a vehicle. We ended up going with Gene, since he was the one with whom we had the appointment. That should have been the first sign that this wasn't going to go well. After we sit down at his desk, Gene proceeds to tell us that he can't locate the keys to the vehicle we made the appointment to see. He makes a show of "going off to look for the keys" at John's desk, and then returns empty handed. He asked if he could show us something else while we were there, and we agreed to look at an Elantra. After he pulled the car up, we asked to go on a test drive (which apparently surprised Gene). When we got back to the dealership, we decided to look around the lot for other cars. When nothing piqued our interest, Gene mentioned that the Maxon GMC dealer next door had additional "certified" pre-owned cars. He offered to drive us over in a golf cart, but couldn't manage to get one going forward (the first one didn't work at all, and the second one only went backwards - into one of the vehicles parked behind it). That should have been our second clue that this was a fool's errand. After looking around, we found a pre-owned Sonata (similar to the one I made the appointment to see), and took it for a test drive. The mileage was a little high, and the rear bumper was cracked. When I asked if it was a "certified pre-owned" car, Gene tried to tell me yes, even though it was not Hyundai certified (it was dealer certified, which meant that the original manufacturer's warranty would not be honored). We decided to pass on the car. Gene asked us to go back to his desk for a minute so he could talk to his manager (Felix) before we left. They both came back, and Felix asked us what kind of car we were interested in seeing. When I said that I wanted to look at the car I made the appointment to see, Felix assured me that he knew right where that was. They both ran off to track it down. After about 5 minutes, Gene came back alone and asked us what colors we might be interested in seeing because that particular car was not at the dealership. He proceeded to tell us that the car had been sold on Tuesday (May 29th - before I made the appointment with John). He tried to blame John for the mix-up. At this point I had had enough, and I told Gene that, based on how I was treated that I would never give my business to Maxon. Then, we left. I thought that would be the end of the story, but, to my utter surprise, Gene called me on Monday (June 4th) and asked me if I had decided on a color for a car. After I asked him if he was kidding because of how we left on Saturday (he said "No, why?"), I reiterated that I after what happened on Saturday I would NEVER be returning to that dealership and that he should never try to call me again, and hung up on him. I understand that pre-owned inventory turns over pretty quickly, but for John to make an appointment for a vehicle which had already been sold was unethical and unprofessional. For Felix to say he knew right where the vehicle was (apparently because someone else bought it) was also unprofessional. For Gene to pretend that he couldn't find the keys (again, because the new owner had them) and then call me on Monday and act like I had left on good terms and was still interested in a vehicle from Maxon, was just incomprehensible. It was clear that they had all intended to deceive us from the beginning. More

Amazing Experience After spending 4 hours going back and forth and getting nowhere in another dealership, my wife and me decided to stop in Maxon Route 22. I was welcome After spending 4 hours going back and forth and getting nowhere in another dealership, my wife and me decided to stop in Maxon Route 22. I was welcome by Felix and assigned Matt as a salesman. He was professional and willing to listen to what we wanted. He took the time to explain the differences between buying and leasing and also between different cars and models to suit our needs. We chose the Hyundai Tucson, took it for a test drive and fell in love with it. I expected another three hours of arguing back and forth, but to surprise it took a lot less than that. I was presented with a quote that showed us everything, talked about for fifteen minutes, made a reasonable offer which was accepted right away and we took the car. Without a doubt, the BEST experience in years. Thank you Felix, Nestor and specially Matt for all your help. Oscar More
