I purchased a 2005 Dodge Magnum on November 12, 2010 from Bobby Layman Chevrolet. I arranged a verbal agreement with my sales associate Michael Colles that I would be given 7 days after purchase of the vehic Bobby Layman Chevrolet. I arranged a verbal agreement with my sales associate Michael Colles that I would be given 7 days after purchase of the vehicle to have it inspected and that the dealership would pay any necessary repairs or take the vehicle back. I made this arrangement since I lived 2 hours away in Cincinnati. Upon inspection, there were two main issues needing to be repaired. After a few conversations the dealership GM Fred Dierfield agreed to fix the two main issues. I delivered the vehicle back to the dealership. After over 35 days and several phone calls, I was able to pick up my vehicle. When I did, one issue was resolved however the other issue was not. Also, there was now a separate issue that was not there before. At Fred Dierfield's recommendation, I brought the vehicle back to Cincinnati and had work completed there. Even though they agreed to fix the issue, all I asked was for them to pay half the total repair bill. They agreed. I have been calling now for over 4 weeks and have not received a check. I will never do business with them again and would not recommend you do either. BUYER BEWARE! More

I bought my car there 3 months ago. I had to replace a tire immediately due to it having a flat spot in it; only $100, nothing to go crazy about. Today I find out not only are my brake pads worn (inevitably will happen) but all the rotors were bad, and all the calipers were bad (1 caliper was actually completely stuck to the rotor); $1000 brake job. Not happy at all. Mechanic pretty much confirmed to me that there's no way that there wasn't signs of this 3 months ago. So I was sold a car with brakes that were a ticking time bomb. Not illegal by any means, but it should have been brought to my attention when I purchased it as is. Now I am just an unhappy customer that feels like he had one pulled over on him. I wont be back, nor will I refer anyone. *The above review was posted on Facebook. Soon after, it was deleted and they called ranting and raving that the review was negative and that we were "slandering" them. Nothing in the above review is false or made up. It is based on our experience. Very unprofessional. Never once did Steve return our phone calls (even though he is adamant that if you have any problems, call him), but after this review was posted, he was immediately calling and acting completely hot-headed. Stay away from this place, unless you want to get screwed. More

We purchased a 2005 Kia Sorento about 6 weeks ago. We liked the vehicle when we saw it but we noticed immediately that the interior of the vehicle was FILTHY and I wondered how they could sit a vehicle l liked the vehicle when we saw it but we noticed immediately that the interior of the vehicle was FILTHY and I wondered how they could sit a vehicle like this on the lot..obviously they didn't even clean it but I thought if I could get a good deal, I wouldn't complain. There was a spare flat tire sitting in the back end because the salesman claimed they couldn't figure out how to mount it underneath but literally two days after bringing it home, we took it to a tire shop closeby and got it patched and the guy mounted it underneath with no problem. Then when we test drove it, we noticed a sound in the back end that we thought was the brakes going bad, so we mentioned it to the salesman, who even took it for a drive with us and he "reassured" us SEVERAL times that it was just rust on the brakes and it would all ware off after driving it a few times. He repeated OVER AND OVER AGAIN that they pay their mechanic $400 to inspect every used vehicle "with a fine toothed comb", so it wouldn't make sense that they would miss something. Again, we're thinking if we could get a good enough deal, and it was indeed bad brakes, we could fix it ourselves, since the vehicle was not under any warranty. Well, we ended up getting what we thought was an excellent deal, so we bought it. We took it to our own personal mechanic the following week and found out that not only the brakes, but the Ring and Pinion is going bad. We had the brakes fixed but it will cost us over $1300 to have the ring and pinion fixed. Not only this but, the OIL WAS BLACK and the guy said the belts all needed replaced!! Our mechanic is very reliable and we saw for ourselves what he was talking about. Belts cost like $20-30, so how could the $400 inspector at Bobby Layman miss it the first place and not fix it? And shouldn't an oil change be the first and most obvious thing to do? My husband called up Bobby Layman and talked to the used car manager and explained what was going on and how upset we were over all of the repairs we had to do...especially since the salesman repeated that they pay the mechanic $400 to go over everything with a "fine toothed comb". So we took it back to their repair shop to have it looked at and guess what? They said we needed a ring and pinion!! How funny that all of the sudden they see it but they managed to look over it during their so called inspection the first time. BUT they were not going to pay for anything because the car was not under warranty and they would lose money if they fixed it. After talking with the manager for a while my husband was finally able to drain $400 out of him, in which the manager was not happy about and said that they would be losing their profit. Well WHAT ABOUT THE CUSTOMER? Look at how much money we are out of now. We cant afford $1300 for the ring and pinion, so we're just screwed until we have the money and hope that nothing major will happen to our car. I can say that most of the employees we dealt with were friendly, but that doesn't make up for the fact that we are NOT satisfied AT ALL after our whole experience. Bobby Layman has been around for years...they're a reliable and honest company, right? WRONG!!!!!! More

I took my 08 Chevy Malibu into this dealer because the check engine light was on. It was the 4th time I had had to take it in for the same reason. After a month at Bobby Layman and no updates other than t check engine light was on. It was the 4th time I had had to take it in for the same reason. After a month at Bobby Layman and no updates other than to tell me they had no idea what was wrong with the car they told me I would have to replace the engine and it was not a warranty issue. The car had 17,000 miles on it and had the oil changed as the oil life indicator told when it was time. When I told them I wanted a second opinion and wanted it shipped up to my dealer in Tallmadge Ohio, they said it would cost $1600 to get the car back with the bad engine. When I went to pick it up with a flatbed, they had the engine dissasembled and thrown into the back of my car on top of the my personal belonings that were in there. It is now up at Serpentini in Tallmadge, a reputable dealer, and they are telling me that Bobby Layman's people had covered their tracks to the point where there was no way of telling if the Cams are scored without a $2000 micrometer assesment. Also, according to Serpentini, they would have waranteed the vehicle no questions. I have always been a loyal GM owner with over 15 GM cars purchased by me and my family over the last 10 years. Because of the way I was treated at Bobby Layman and because of how GM has handled the situation, I will never buy one of their cars again. I would stay as far away from the service department at this dealer as possible. They are crooked. GM and Bobby Layman both know that the longer they string the situation along and the longer I go without a car, the more likely I am to just pay. I have never in my life felt so betrayed and abused. I always argued with people who said American cars just arent of the same quality. Now i understand first hand why GM is on the way out. How could a company with such a loyal following treat people so poorly? I cannot afford the legal team to fight this battle so I will pay the $10,000 now and my car payment for the remining 16 months but I swear on my mothers life, GM will never receive another dollar from me. Period. More

I have dealt an "internet consultant" from Bobby Layman chevrolet and my head is still swimming. "We are always willing to negotiate price", he said.. but would only tell me what he "can't" do...never wha chevrolet and my head is still swimming. Though it's sometimes hard to tell when speaking over e-mail, his tone was always one of "get on with it, you're wasting my time", and I finally stopped dealing with him when it became clear that he would only accept a full price offer. He said, "...the Internet process is in place so a shopper can look at inventory across the country and find the best possible deal without haggling at the dealership." ...wait, what? But earlier you said... So which is it, Bobby Layman Chevrolet of Columbus, Ohio? Are you willing to negotiate prices? Or aren't you? CarMax at least has the guts to tell you up front that you're going to take what they offer you or you can bugger-off...and they manage to do it in a very professional way. More

Promised me a 500$ gas card if I purchased a vehicle even put it in writing. After looking for a Pontiac G6 online I received a call from Chris Coffman stating that he was a representative from "Bar None" financing. He then proceeded to ask me when a good time was for me to talk ab from Chris Coffman stating that he was a representative from "Bar None" financing. He then proceeded to ask me when a good time was for me to talk about financing. After returning several phone calls he stated that his office was inside Bobby Layman Chevy. The meeting that ended up taking place was wildly different that anything the Chris lead me to believe. Chris was not with the finance department at all he was a salesman. He decided to try and shove a Chevy Cobalt down my throat and nothing I said would change his extremely high pressure sales approach. After three hours of him grilling me to buy the Cobalt and insisting that I take the thing for a test drive, I told him I was not interested in the car. At that point the meeting took another unexpected turn Chris became very rude and when that tactic didn’t work he brought in a second salesman to ask me the very same questions Chris him self asked me moments ago. The only thing that had any effect at all was telling them that I wanted at least a day to think about it. Immediately after leaving there I went to different dealership and ended up buying the G6 that I originally wanted. Chris did decide to call me early the next day just to "check up" after telling him the I decided to go with a different dealer he said "Thanks for wasting my time!" and hung up on me. My advice stay the hell away from Bobby Layman unless you have your heart set on Cobalt because that’s what you are going to get anyway. More
