Shady Dealers with no Ethics I purchased a Jeep and on drive home all the dash lights came on which really worried me, I took a picture and texted it to dealer who sold me car, he I purchased a Jeep and on drive home all the dash lights came on which really worried me, I took a picture and texted it to dealer who sold me car, he said it was a glitch with the sensors and I they could clear the warning lights off. They did, as well as repair the sunroof that failed. Again telling me the warning lights were sensor issues and the weird noise was ok. It’s been in the shop nonstop having major repairs. My mechanics told me to call Mackey and tell them to pay for the rear differential because there was no way it just went bad that fast-it had had issues before. I called Nackey in front of the mechanics and they blew me off, said it was my problem and they’d call me Monday- they never returned any calls. Fast forward to last month when the car caught fire. They acted like they were going to make this right and help resolve this and even said all the other salesmen there were unethical and shady...they played telephone tag for a week and refused to help at all. I now have a dead Jeep in my yard that was $10k and I can’t do anything with it. I contacted NY Attorney General and she sent me a link to file complaint with BBB as well as pursue this legally. They are dishonest and took advantage of a desperate single mother trying to get a safe car. I’m more than heartcrushed they did this. More

The salesman, Trevor (no longer there) put a lot of pressure on her to buy. The Jeep made a strange noise but Trevor said all Jeep Commanders make that noise. Also, while driving home, the dash lights came on. She was concerned but was told "no problem." She drove the car back a couple of days later, only to be told the light panel just needed to be reset. It was, but came on again. Trevor said it wouldn't hurt anything. A couple of weeks later, the sun roof stopped working, she returned to the car lot and it was fixed. The motor noise was continuing to get louder. She was told again, all Jeeps make that noise. As we continued along, more parts of the car we causing issues. We paid $10K for the car and withing a short time had put $3000 into repairs, from the differential rear end and the water pump to the head gaskets. Our mechanic said the electrical system was messed up. The dealership did not give our daughter a usable spare tire nor a bag of tools for the car. Dealership upset when she tried to obtain those things. Upset with her for asking. We never did get those things. Please understand our daughter called the dealership several times withing the first 30 days followed by several calls during the next 8 months. Calls were never returned. The car continued to get worse. At this point the electrical system is still bad and the car needs new head gaskets. A couple of weeks ago my daughter, granddaughter and family pet were driving home in a rural area. The car started smoking (a lot) and was in the first stages of fire. Praise the Lord a Forest Ranger drove by and helped put out the fire. Had that not happened, the fire could have progressed. Had the car engulfed with fire, and our family was killed or injured, there would have been a large lawsuit. The car was towed to a local mechanic. In fact, we had to individual mechanics evaluate the car. It is totally shot, and neither mechanic will repair the car. There is way to much wrong with the car, and the cost to repair is mega extreme. The car is presently in my daughter's yard. It is not able to be driven, and we were told, if she tried to drive the car, the mechanical system could fail at any minute without warning. Fast forward to October 12, 2019. I called the Mackely Dealership. I reached Nelson, the new Sales Manager. I explained the situation in detail. Nelson seemed interested at first, than began to share. He said his mother had a horrible experience with unethical used car dealerships so decided never to be that way. In fact told me three times that he fired all staff at the dealership because of unethical transactions, and sleazy behaviors towards customers. He shared this with me three times. I explained what happened several times. I even called him to ask what the owner's name was. He said John. When I asked for his last name, Nelson said, "I don't know and I am the only one here, and I don't know." I had asked him to talk with his Owner/Manager. He did not do so for a couple of days. Finally, after many conversations going back and forth, he said the owner would do nothing because we didn't try to return the car within 30 days, thus "no lemon law" for us. This was a horrible situation, with no regard for customer service, safely of purchasers, or anything else. I would use caution if you elect to use this dealership. I actually told Nelson he needed to go to work for someone with scruples. And the constant verbiage about needing to return the car within 30 days, how could me with our being "blown off" by the dealership. In one review we read, this dealership offered to pay a lady to remove her bad review. She said "yes" at first, but later told them to take their money back because she could not cover-up unethical behavior by a dealership with unsuspecting potential buyers. Buy with caution!!! We paid $10K, put $3K into car repairs, but now have a big worthless car, with no satisfaction from Mackey Motors. Again, the two mechanics we took the car to, said it was worthless to try to repair the car. And yes, we tried to have something done withing the first 30 days, they say she should have drive the car one plus hours back and forth to tell them of problems. But, if they never answered the phone or refused to call back, how would she even know, after a few hours if they would even be there. Beware!! More

Terrible follow-up, and not customer friendly I purchased a very nice, hard to find car from Mackey Automotive. The deal seemed decent and I was happy with the price. That was until I found all I purchased a very nice, hard to find car from Mackey Automotive. The deal seemed decent and I was happy with the price. That was until I found all the items they neglected to disclose (only one key, comfort access not working, no mufflers, torn front CV boot, etc...). Most of the items should have been taken care of prior to selling the car and should never be left up to the customer to discover. After all, I didn't buy the car from some shady, back alley character. I thought I was purchasing the car from a reputable dealer. The bad CV boot led to the axle going bad which took Mackey several months to even address. When they did address it, they never fixed it right because they kept ordering second rate parts that weren't even made for the car I purchased. In the end, I couldn't drive the car for over four weeks, spent more money out of my own pocket than John Mackey paid for the repair, and I had to arrange for the proper repair myself and even negotiate with Ric for a rate less than what it actually cost me for the repair. Throughout this whole ordeal, the only way I ever received a return phone call is when I threatened legal action. At one point I left emails and phone messages for two weeks just to get the status of my car in their repair shop. At no point did they even consider proactively communicating with me. I've never worked so hard to be someone's customer. I have been lied to, ignored, yelled at (whatever you do, don't express that your frustrated or fed-up) and they even tried pitting me against their repair shop. By the way, John Mackey has never once returned my calls, apologized or even acted like he cared. They treated me like it's a privilege to do business with them and once you write them a check, they just as soon never talk to you again. That's an interesting way to run a business. This may explain why they're not selling cars at this time (I don't believe that they're remodeling anything). I cannot and will not ever recommend Mackey Automotive to anyone. Take your chances on eBay or Craigslist. You'll receive better service and ultimately a better deal. More
Con Artists Don’t waste your time I’m still waiting for my $550 check they owe me for overpaying them, my rearview mirror, and my navigation! Not to mention they sent me off the lot with a half tank of gas and lights on the dash and said they’d handle it but every since I purchased the vehicle these people have been giving me the run around for the things I’m due and entitled to! Bad followup Waiting on wheel centercap 4 weeks now after multiple calls, still no centercap. Truck runs like crap and throwing codes. Bad rim took a week to get taken care of and clowns they sent put a rusted piece of crap rim on and used tire that wasnt even balanced. Then they drove over my lawn in their van and left the old tire and rim in my driveway. Would not evet use them again. And oh yeah, warranty they sold me doesnt cover anything. Feel cheated! More
