Thank you Mr. Obrien for you review. Unfortunately we can’t hand out free maintenance when customers neglect their cars. We do everything we can to remind you of the guidelines for your 1yr or 10,000, 2yr or 20,000 and 3yr or 30,000 mile services covered by Volkswagen of America; with the Sticker on your windshield, the digital reminder for service on your dash, the paperwork we hand you at your last service reminding you your next service is due at 20,xxx miles, and even in your owner’s manual. We even offered to pay out of our own pocket for half of your oil change. But once you’ve voided your part of the agreement between you and the manufacturer there isn’t much we or any other VW dealer can do. You obviously understood that your first service was free (paid by VWoA) at 10,000 when you were in at approx. 10,475 miles. Unfortunately when you came in at 25,000+ miles for your 20,000 service you were in breach of that agreement, and that is when we offered to help by giving you a discounted oil change. VW wants you to maintain your vehicle to their standards and they have a little leeway but not over 5,000 miles.
