Mike was very easy to work with! He worked around my schedule and helped me make the trade in process smooth so I could get into my new van quickly and easily. Misleading; Did not honor quoted price I counter offered a bottom line price with the sales manager and salesman to purchase a new vehicle. At first, they declined and said they couldn't m I counter offered a bottom line price with the sales manager and salesman to purchase a new vehicle. At first, they declined and said they couldn't meet my offer. I then told the salesman that I was going to go to another dealer. The sales manager recommended leasing and then buying the vehicle after the first lease payment. I informed them that I was very leery of leasing because I have heard horror stories of people paying more than they expected. The salesman said, "We do it all the time." So I agreed that I would buy the new jeep if they could guarantee me that my bottom line price to buy the vehicle would be "x" amount which would include taxes and fees, and there would be no other costs. The sales manager said, "You want us to pay the taxes? We won't even know what the taxes would be!" When I told them I was going to check out the other dealer, they agreed to my counter offer. When I went to sign the leasing papers, I again reminded the salesman and business manager that my bottom line price to buy the vehicle would be "x." This agreed upon price was written on a paper, it was circled. Both the salesman and business manager confirmed that I would be buying the vehicle for that agreed amount. I was told to make one lease payment to allow the paper work to catch up, and then I could come back to buy the vehicle. My boyfriend and I returned to the dealership to make my first lease payment. The business manager told me I need to pay the leasing company directly, then to come back to buy the vehicle. Again, I asked for a confirmation that I would be able to buy the jeep for the agreed upon price of "x" when I come back to buy it. The business manager confirmed my understanding. After my payment, I called the salesman and told him that I am ready to buy the jeep. He asked if I made the first payment, I confirmed. He said he would set it up with the business manager and that it would be after Thanksgiving. A week later, I called again, asking if I could come in to buy the jeep. Again, the salesman asked if I made my first payment, I again confirmed. He transferred me to the business manager, and I was able to see her that afternoon. When I arrived to sign the papers to buy the jeep, I noticed and told the business manager that the purchase amount was greater than what we agreed upon. She notified the salesman. The salesman did consult with the sales manager and his explanation was: "It's an unfortunate misunderstanding." He said his verbiage "the purchase price" referred to the bottom line of the lease agreement. I explained that in layman's terms, purchase means buy and leasing is leasing, not buying. I reminded him that the sales manager said "We won't even know what the taxes would be." He informed his manager and came back with the offer to either buy the jeep at their price or continue to lease the jeep. I told him that his terminology was not disclosed and that I was very disappointed and frustrated. He repeated that it was a misunderstanding. I told him I will report this misleading behavior. His reply, "We expected you would." This complaint was also filed with Better Business Bureau. After BBB contacted dealership, the dealership did agree to the verbal purchase agreement price. More
