I want to share a serious issue I experienced with Lexus of Roseville that others should be aware of. When I purchased my EV, I was told I would be eligible for the federal tax credit. During tax filing, my CPA discovered the vehicle was not eligible. The reason: the dealership failed to submit the required IRS “time-of-sale report.” Here’s the critical part — this is not something that can be fixed later. If the report is not submitted correctly at the time of sale, the IRS will not issue the credit at all. Because of this error, I permanently lost a $4,000 tax credit. The dealership acknowledges they should have completed this step, but has refused to take financial responsibility.
