A bunch of JERKS!! Lexus of Merrillville My wife and I decided we wanted to purchase a new vehicle and opted for a used Cadillac DTS. There was one available a mile aw Lexus of Merrillville My wife and I decided we wanted to purchase a new vehicle and opted for a used Cadillac DTS. There was one available a mile away from our house. Upon looking at it several times and test driving it, we decided this was the right car for us. We attempted to do a little negation but were pretty much stonewalled. We were $800 apart. I offered to split the difference but was told by the Joe/salesman he would need to check with Willie/sales manager and he would call me right back. It was dinner time, so we held off dinner anticipating a return call; naturally very excited. We did not receive a return phone call that night nor the next day. I thought it was very rude and wrote an email to the custom relations manager (now I know why they need one.) stating I was unhappy with the treatment. Naturally, I was upset; my email may have been a bit harsh. Their response was that I was lying, that I really did get a phone call back. My wife and I would have known if we had received a phone call as we were very excited about purchasing a new car. I got in my car to meet with Pete and appreciated him taking the time to see me. I showed him my cell phone that I, indeed, did not receive any phone calls. Joe/salesman continued to argue that he had called me and talked with me even after seeing the proof showing otherwise on my phone. Fortunately, Pete and I chose to take the high road. There was still a possibility of salvaging the relationship. I was told the car developed an oil leak and if they had to fix it the price would go up. The cup holder between the seats was broke. When I asked if this was something that could be repaired, I was told no. Throughout the experience, I repeatedly was told by Joe/salesman that they had put too much money into the car and weren’t making enough profit. They had no money in it to fix anything which I find hard to believe. I was told Joe/salesman would contact me to update me about the oil leak situation, but never heard a word.( it has been one week) Ended up buying almost the same care at a different dealership 1 ½ hours away from my house for about the same price. There was no way I could do business with people that don’t respect their customers, nor show basic common courtesies. Not all of us can afford top of the line cars, but we are still human beings and deserve to be treated with respect and basic common courtesy. Personally, I would never do business with this organization. I’m sure if you have loads of money they will kiss your butt; if you are a common everyday, hardworking American you’d be lucky to get the time of day. More

Refuse to return Deposit Several weeks ago I contacted Lexus of Merrilville and many other Lexus dealers about a possible purchase of a new Lexus LX. The dealership (we worked Several weeks ago I contacted Lexus of Merrilville and many other Lexus dealers about a possible purchase of a new Lexus LX. The dealership (we worked with Dave Whelen). They offered us a good price, and when I told Dave that I wanted to come out to Merrilville to look at the car the next day, he told me, that a refundable deposit of $500 would hold the car until then. I submitted the deposit vie e-mail to them on a credit card charge. I was contacted by another dealer and was offered the same car at a substantial saving and I bought the car at that dealer. I have so far asked twice for my deposit back and have not received an answer to my return request nor the actual deposit. Actions such as that make people not want to consider that dealer or the brand. Unfortunate but a scam that gives car dealers a bad name. More

My last visit to Lexus of Merrillville (herein ref :dealer ship) was to have repairs done to my vehicle. My insurance company made several visits to accumulate nine estimates for repairs. I informed the dealership of what repairs I wanted them to perform and what repairs I didn't want them to perform. I informed the dealership that all the insurance payments would be sent directly to me and that I would be responsible for paying those services I authorize the dealership to perform and all other repairs I would have performed by someone else. This is written in both the insurance company and dealership documentation. The dealership manager Chris Hodges became irate, loud, boisterous and disrespectful after hearing my decision not to have the dealership perform all my repairs. He accused me of committing illegal acts of fraud. I reported Hodges misconduct and unprofessionalism to his supervisors (Todd Sobczak and Pete Takacs) and both apologized to me about his misconduct and informed me that he was not to have any further contact with me or my car. When I informed the manager Pete Takacs that I would be contacting the BBB, Lexus corporate office and the owner of the dealership etc; about this incident Pete stated "you better get your car repaired and out of the shop before you do". I took this as a threat however: he tried to act as if it was a joke. As a result the following transpired: 1. My vehicle was damaged: the audio system CD is inoperable and visible dents are on the roof. 2. The dealership allowed their auto tech to rebuild an axle that they said was a junk yard part and placed it on my care without my authorization and then told me to come get my vehicle . 3. Upon picking up my car after paying for all original repairs before driving off I noticed several lights blinking on the dash board and made complaints that my car wasn't repaired. 4. The dealership said they didn't know what was wrong with the car and took it in the back. I was then given a fraudulent piece of paper that I later discovered was pre dated by seven days for a censor failure. 5. Several days later the dealership contacted me and informed me that there was a chip in the axle that was causing the censor to go off, a axle that they rebuilt and placed on my car. I was then told that they would need to replace the axle again. 6. I personally called my insurance company and informed them that I didn't trust the dealership and that they were continuously finding different things to be repaired , giving me unsupportive dealership documentation to perform repairs (censor) and repeatedly charging me for labor on the axle (three times) 7. Thereafter I informed the dealership and my insurance company that I wanted a brand new axle placed on my vehicle and for this replacement payment to be made directly from the insurance company to the dealership; because I had already used my bank card and credit card to pay for all other repairs that were already performed and authorized by me; including the rebuilt axle that I didn't authorize or have knowledge of. 8. The dealership then tried to overcharge me and my insurance company by $800.00. My insurance sent a special adjuster to the dealership who then spent two days or more going over paperwork with the dealership so that they could explain the overcharge. 9. The investigation discovered that the $800.00 overcharge was from $482.44 being unlawfully charged to me under the ruse of a censor that the dealership claims to have put on my car after I specifically told them not ( this is documented) and the other $300.00 the dealership decided not to try to further charge. 10. I have continuously asked each person named in this complaint to provide me with the owners name and phone number to report their misconduct and each individual refused to provide me with this information. I then contacted Lexus corporate office and they also refused to assist me. More

Very poor customer service I received very poor customer service in the pre-owned area of this dealership. The sales person I dealt with told me many false statements about the I received very poor customer service in the pre-owned area of this dealership. The sales person I dealt with told me many false statements about the vehicle I was interested in, was unresponsive to e-mails, and was generally misleading. I would not recommend this dealership for used vehicles. It is not worth your time or money. More
