Experience was excellent as usual. Although I was quickly offered a loaner, the car was very dirty inside and out. The interior was rather “smelly”, with some trash on the floor. I have been a Lexus owner since 1994 and currently own two Lexus vehicles outright. For more than 30 years, I have remained loyal to the Lexus brand because I have always valued the quality of the vehicle two Lexus vehicles outright. For more than 30 years, I have remained loyal to the Lexus brand because I have always valued the quality of the vehicles and the customer experience that Lexus is known for. I have also been a loyal customer of Lexus of Cherry Hill for roughly seven years. The only reason I began servicing my vehicles at this dealership was because I followed a trusted service advisor, despite the dealership already having a reputation for poor customer service. Unfortunately, my most recent experiences have completely changed my opinion. A few months ago, I brought my vehicle in for what was supposed to be routine service. Before my appointment, I clearly explained that I had just started a new job in Washington, D.C., and because of my commute, there was a possibility that traffic could delay me from returning the loaner and needed a few days. I communicated this in advance so there would be no misunderstanding. Instead of professionalism and understanding, I received repeated phone calls from a the manager of the service department who spoke to me in a rude, intimidating, and threatening manner. I was told that if I did not return the loaner immediately, I would be charged for every day. I had already communicated my situation to my service ep, yet I was treated as though I had done something wrong. I returned the loaner the day after I was expected to return it due to DC traffic and the dealership being closed. What made the interaction even more disappointing was the manager’s demeanor. After learning that the loaner vehicle had been sold, it felt as though her frustration over that situation was directed at me. Rather than having a respectful conversation, she chose to speak at me in a hostile and condescending tone. I respectfully but firmly told her that I would not allow anyone to speak to me that way. No customer should have to defend themselves simply for expecting to be treated with basic respect. To make matters worse, what started as a routine service appointment unexpectedly resulted in a bill of approximately $1,500. Looking back, I wish I had taken my vehicle elsewhere. Now, when it’s time for my next service, I’ve been told I am no longer eligible for a standard loaner vehicle and, if one is available, it will only be for the day. I also understand that the service advisors I’ve worked with for years are no longer permitted to communicate with me directly. After more than seven years of loyalty to this dealership—and more than three decades of loyalty to the Lexus brand—this treatment is incredibly disappointing. Ironically, I had recently been speaking with a sales representative about purchasing another Lexus. This experience has completely changed my mind. A dealership should value loyal, long-term customers, not alienate them. I have always communicated honestly, treated employees with respect, and remained loyal despite this dealership’s reputation. In return, I experienced what felt like intimidation, retaliation, and a complete lack of customer care. One final note: customers should take online reviews with a grain of salt. It is common for service advisors to encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews immediately after appointments, so those ratings may not always reflect the overall customer experience. After almost seven years with Lexus of Cherry Hill and over 30 years as a Lexus owner, I can no longer recommend this dealership. Loyalty should be appreciated—not punished. More
