This was even more significant than usual because my wife and I were car shopping with our 4 month old. We were in search of a family car to accommodate our family better than our current vehicle. We got a pretty good trade in value for our vehicle, and the price of the used 2023 Cross Sport was fair. Both could have been a little better, but we didn't do the back-and-forth negotiating to tweak the numbers down because we needed the new baby-friendly car quickly, and the baby's patience was running thin that day. Things were less smooth when it came time to close the deal. First, the second key for the car was not available. We were told that the VW employee (John) who previously owned the vehicle had it and would get it to us quickly. I met him as part of the sales process and he assured me that he would send the key out to me immediately. Note: it still has not arrived as of this writing, weeks later. I asked them to put this in writing to hold them accountable, and I have called in, and they have been good about pushing for this to get done. Additionally, I asked about the cargo cover for the vehicle, they let me know that they could not guarantee the cover, but that they could check other vehicles and inventory and try to get me one. Also, the original owner said he would check to see if he had it, because he would usually have included it in his purchase. They did not come through with the cover, nor did they even provide any updates to me asking about it. I know this would have been going above and beyond, but in the end it was setting higher expectations and underdelivering. A simple update that it wasn't going to be possible after all would have been good. The experience with the second vehicle key and the cargo cover make it feel as if the dealer was willing to say what needed to be said to close the deal. Their saving grace was that Mark provided his direct cell #, and has been responsive after the sale was complete. Without him I would be rating the experience 2 or 3 stars instead of 4 stars. I recommend this dealership for fairness and for providing a quality vehicle. I also recommend getting all that is being committed in writing. More
