Keating Honda is in desperate need for some sales training! As someone who has had a successful career in sales, this was painful to watch. I had an appointment on 5/25 and the salesman with the training! As someone who has had a successful career in sales, this was painful to watch. I had an appointment on 5/25 and the salesman with the short beard and long hair was particularly unprofessional and insulting. He made numerous unfounded technical assumptions about the car. The most hilarious claim was that the reason the car had been smoking on startup was because "the car had been sitting a few days" and the price of the car was not competitive because it needed to be detailed. Needless to say, such explanations are simply ridiculous. In addition to a bizarre and rookie sales performance, the salesman accused me of being deceptive about my current car’s appraisal, despite the vehicle’s history being clearly stated beforehand (which was not the focus of the appointment and was a result of the salesman pushing for an appraisal) and "not sticking to my word" about my price target when we were in the middle of discussing the gross over valuation of the vehicle. He interrupted me constantly, put words in my mouth, and became increasingly hostile. I ended the meeting before even consulting with the sales manager. To be fair, I was a well-researched customer with a competitive price for a similar vehicle in the same town. Simply stating that the deal couldn’t be matched due to overhead costs only highlighted flaws in the business model without conveying any additional value. A more appropriate response would have been, "Sounds like a great deal! Unfortunately, we can’t compete with that, but here’s my card. Give me a call if anything falls through with your purchase." Key takeaways from this experience: - The salesperson sets the tone for the meeting. It is not the customer's responsibility to calm them down. - Avoid commenting on topics you are not knowledgeable about. It’s better to admit when you don’t know something and maintain trust with the customer. - Know your value proposition. Why should I buy from you rather than private party? - Give your customer a chance to speak. You'll learn more about their goals/motivations and it will give you more information to improve and close a deal. - Saying "KBB doesn't sell cars" is lazy and negative response to a competitive offer. JD Power doesn't sell cars either, and more importantly, they don't buy cars. - If a half deal on a sub-$10k car is going to spin you out of control that badly, a career in sales may not be the best fit for you. Before dismissing this review as having "unreasonable expectations," note that I purchased the same car (without any smoking issues) for the price I mentioned immediately after leaving. I hope the sales team at Keating Honda can use this experience as a learning opportunity, as I would not currently recommend this dealership to my friends or family. More
We worked with Chase Schmidt. I recommend working with him, way better than other salesmen we worked with at Keating in the past! I give him 5 stars and the dealership 4. We came I recommend working with him, way better than other salesmen we worked with at Keating in the past! I give him 5 stars and the dealership 4. We came in looking for an Accord/CR-V. We were comparing against Toyota. We didn't know about the HR-V. Chase listened to what our goals were, and politely challenged a few assumptions we had. I was appreciative, because we found out about a model we didn't know about that was a best fit for our needs. We told Chase we were not going to play games. We told him the price we needed to be at, and a deal was made at that price. They would not send a signed quote, so that bothered me, but they said to "trust" them. I didn't love that they tried to tack on $387 above what we agreed at, with an excuse. I believe this was driven by management. But we ultimately made an agreement to throw in a few additional oil changes. Funny thing was, when we got to finance, the finance guy honored what we wanted to begin with! 4 stars because all Honda dealers advertise MSRP without their markups, and the game they tried to play with the additional $387. Better than other Honda dealers! Finance was a breeze, and I would ask for Brandon! He was great to work with. More

Where do I even begin! We were out a family vehicle because of a storm back in June, so we were pressed to find a suitable replacement in a short timeframe. The pricing and We were out a family vehicle because of a storm back in June, so we were pressed to find a suitable replacement in a short timeframe. The pricing and “deals” listed online were NOT accurate at all, and we never received any of the perks that were listed on their website for making a purchase. THEN when we finally got to talk about pricing, the rep, Zach Poshard, told us that Keating installs their own version of low jack at the most premium price you can imagine. It is NOT negotiable despite the fact that the car we purchased already had tracking tech installed from Honda. They WILL NOT take this out nor take the price off. Due to the fact that this an urgent, short turnaround purchase, my father offered to help with the down payment on the car. When he told us this, I reached out to our sales rep to confirm if he could bring in a check… each time it was a YES and the ONLY requirement I was told was my father needing to show a valid ID, THAT IS IT. I confirmed this with our sales rep, Zach, 3 times to be sure before my Dad went there only to find out that they wanted to give him a credit check, which was NEVER disclosed to me any if the times I inquired about the requirements for this down payment from a third party. When my Dad got upset they required this, Zach and the Sales Director laughed in his face!!!! There was ZERO need for him to complete a credit check. Period. They could have taken his ID and waited for it to clear, but no. Since my father didn’t want an establishment this shady to have access to his information in this manner, he opted to pay with a cashier’s check which he would have done in the first place had they disclosed the need for a credit check. Had he known that it was going to be like this just to make this down payment, he would have had a check cut from the source right out of the gate but we were never given the correct information. Since this whole thing was so problematic, the sales director offered to pay him back for the cost of getting this cashiers check. Not only was my father disrespected, talked down to, LAUGHED AT, and treated like complete dirt, the sales director took it a step further and reimbursed the charge IN SMALL COIN CHANGE. To top it all off, since Keating had messed with the car and added that nonsense in they didn’t close the panels properly. So literally the day we got the car we had to turn around and bring it back because A PANEL WAS FALLING OFF ON THE BOTTOM I OF THE CAR!!!!!!!!!! Keating is not interested in the safety of their customers, just their bottom line. There’s no excuse for behavior of this nature. How on earth does a company like this allow their management and senior staff treat patrons in this manner??? We were overcharged, treated like garbage, and lied to, and NOTHING happened to anyone from Keating as a result of their negative and childish behavior. This is how they operate. Their 4.5 stars on google is not accurate because they have all the bad reviews removed to save face and prevent customers from being deterred. BE WARNED. More

After driving the car awhile, I started having trouble with the steering locking up. I could barely pull over to the side of the road. I turned off the engine. I restarted the engine and the steering started working again. I took the car in to Keating to have it checked out on 10/26/2023. I got a call from Mark telling me the repair would be over $600 and my warranty would not cover it. I paid for the best Alpha warranty and it would not cover my first claim with them. I feel cheated and ripped off by Brett Bailey for selling me a worthless warranty. I had to pay for the repairs out of my pocket. What good is that so called warranty if it doesn’t help me when I need it? More
I took the advice of the dealership and am in a crappy situation because of it. To protect themselves, they advised me to make a financial decision I did not want to - with the assurance that I could easi situation because of it. To protect themselves, they advised me to make a financial decision I did not want to - with the assurance that I could easily modify the arrangement on my own post-sale. It turned out not to be easy. I needed help from the dealership to get to the payment plan I wanted, and should have had on day one. Instead of the help they assured me, I was ignored by everyone from my dealer to the GM - until I changed my Google review from 5 stars to 1. After asking them to make up for the undue mess I found myself in, the dealership’s response was that “I’m upset about something they couldn’t control and am asking them to fix something that is not their fault.” I made a decision relying on their advice. When it turned out not to work for me, they said “we simply presented you with options” and “didn’t force me to do anything.” Perhaps that’s true, but you should be aware of their refusal of accountability for their own advice. It may be blunt, but it’s honest. They’re more than happy to tell me what I should think and how I should feel now that they’ve sold me the car, and expect me to listen. But when they were doing the same thing during the sales process, it was my fault for listening. More

Dec 1998, I came away from there w/the best car I ever owned Of course this was many yrs ago, but it was Dec 18th( I believe) 1998. I was a single mom driving an old boat of a car. The other dealers in Conroe wo Of course this was many yrs ago, but it was Dec 18th( I believe) 1998. I was a single mom driving an old boat of a car. The other dealers in Conroe wouldn't give me the time of day, by the way. Found the perfect car (unbeknownst to me @ the time) from a wonderful salesman (who cared). I drove that '96 Grand Am til 2007 when it finally died w/ 433,000 miles on it. And I have told everyone! Unfortunately, I moved away from the Conroe area. When I've been close, couldn't afford to "shop" for a car. I may be in the market still yet, & may still pay them a visit. More
