I ordered my Camry Hybrid back in November of 2021 after I was told it could be just a few months before it would arrive. It didn't come in until May which given everything else that has been going on with I was told it could be just a few months before it would arrive. It didn't come in until May which given everything else that has been going on with COVID was just whatever and I could get over it. The biggest issue I had with this dealership was a surprise $2,000 surcharge over MSRP when I went to pickup the vehicle. To make it worse, it wasn't just that they hadn't properly communicated this "new policy" with me ahead of time, but they had actually sent a summary sheet to me in December showing the details of the car that was being built and had written in an extra 2,000 below the printed MSRP with no explanation. When I noticed and reached out to the salesman, he even followed up and told me that this was a new policy but that my order had been placed before it started so it wouldn't apply. Fast forward half a year when my car finally arrived and the extra $2,000 pops up again. This time they tell me that the policy was in place before I placed my order and there wasn't anything they could do about it. They said they might be able to do something if I had a trade-in. The car we were trying to replace was actually totaled in June of 2021 when some guy hit my pregnant wife and then drove off. We made it 6 months with one car and using public transit. Luckily a family member let us borrow a vehicle to help us between ordering this car and when it finally arrived but then adding an extra 2,000 to the price was pretty low. We needed the car and this was the car I wanted. Just too bad that this dealership had to be involved in my first and probably last purchase from Toyota. They eventually offered to take off $500 but an extra $1,500 over MSRP for a policy that they told me wouldn't apply (and the salesman even acknowledged that when we went to pick the car up) was very poor treatment. I don't even buy into the customer always being right, but when the business is in error, they should own it. Take your business to someone else who actually owns up. More
I'm not typically one to leave reviews, especially negative ones but after my experience with Karl Malone Toyota today, I have made the decision to write one. I saw an ad on KSL classifieds for a new negative ones but after my experience with Karl Malone Toyota today, I have made the decision to write one. I saw an ad on KSL classifieds for a new Tacoma with an MSRP listed at $39,921. I immediately called them and talked to a salesman to ask if they'd sell it for the MSRP listed above, and was told yes. I also asked him if I could put a $500 deposit on it to reserve it. He also answered yes to that. I was ecstatic! I told them that I was going to come in and test drive it. I called in once more, and got through to another salesman (Josh). He told me that they wouldn't sell it for MSRP, AND that they don't accept deposits for vehicles that they have on the lot. At that point, I'm pretty mad. If your salesman tells someone that they will sell it for MSRP, and will allow them to put down a deposit on it, you should follow through with it. The only excuse they had for it was that the salesman that gave me that Information is "new". (I don't care if the salesman is new or not. If your salesman tells me that they will sell the vehicle to me for the MSRP of $39,921 that's what they should do. Why should I be the one to get "screwed" when a "new" salesman tells me something. IF YOUR SALESMAN DOESNT KNOW WHAT PRICE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO SELL IT FOR, WHY ARE THEY A SALESMAN??) I as the customer shouldnt have to spend an extra couple thousand dollars for their companies mistake. After confronting the salesman about that, he talked to his manager, and the manager told him that they can do a deposit on it, but they were very hesitant to do it, and asked when I was planning on picking it up. I told them that I'm unsure when I can finalize the sale, because I had a family member pass away yesterday, and the funeral arrangements will determine whether I could come in next week or the following week. And all they said they could do with the price is give me a $500 discount for being a firefighter. Unfortunately the bad experience didn't end there, I went in, and took it for a test drive, and not even 10 minutes into the test drive, the salesman calls me and asks where I am because they have other people who are wanting to test drive it. After all of that, I had found out all I needed to know about how this dealership treats people. I returned to the dealership, and gave the Josh the keys. He asked if I wanted it, and flat out told them that I definitely wanted the truck, but I did NOT want it from them. After being lied to, and then being rushed into returning from the test drive (if I'm possibly going to be spending $41,000+ on something, I'm going to make sure that I'll be happy with it, and take my time to get to know it.) I had heard enough. So hopefully this review helps others know what to watch for with this company. By the way, there is a dealership in the salt lake valley that WILL NOT charge you above MSRP. I would highly encourage anyone to check them out before coming here to get charged thousands more than what they'd pay elsewhere. The initials of this business I speak of are MMT. More
This dealership is by far the worst ever the service guys lie about mileage that they know is on the car then there is no kind of reward for loyalty for over 15 yrs of being a customer who has spent thousand lie about mileage that they know is on the car then there is no kind of reward for loyalty for over 15 yrs of being a customer who has spent thousands of dollars there every year and lately have been double charging an account for the payment for 3 months I would give this place negative stars if possible. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! More
TL;DR - Go somewhere else if you want to be treated like your business is valued. My sales rep was great, (Diego Urbenja) the manager (JD Larson) was aggressive and condescending, told me he didn't need me your business is valued. My sales rep was great, (Diego Urbenja) the manager (JD Larson) was aggressive and condescending, told me he didn't need me to sell the car and wouldn't work with me. Next day two dealerships matched his offer and they still haven't sold the car I went in to look at. 8/30/21 - I went in to test drive a Camry, my car is fine so I'm in no rush to switch vehicles. Turns out an old colleague from a previous job works there so I get paired with him (Diego Urbenja, if you ignore my advice and go here ask for him because he was great. Not pushy and listened to what I wanted and was patient in presenting options, overall great interaction.) After test driving, running some numbers etc. I was actually ready to buy the vehicle. Offer was sticker price + Toyota dealer rebate, tint comped, we were ready to go but because I wasn't planning to buy the day I walked in I had not done enough research to feel comfortable pulling the trigger same day and told them I would put down $1,000 to have them hold it until I had time to call around the next day and do my due diligence. At this point I get pulled into a room with JD Larson. I don't know if it was a bad day or had to do with the fact that I'm a tattooed gym rat (He was wearing BYU attire so it could be the stereotypical Utah judgement I frequently receive) regardless, he was immediately aggressive in tone asking why I wouldn't take the deal. I explained I've been in sales for a decade and I wouldn't make a decision without due diligence just the same as my clientele. He proceeds to tell me that he doesn't need me to sell the car, it will sell itself because of the current market and that they have everyone starting an hour early tomorrow (end of month) so they can't hold the car. Honestly if it was politely explained as too much of a business risk I would understand but he repeatedly told me that he didn't need me and the car would sell without me. Stating that if I ask around I MAY get $500 off but that was it and if it would make the difference he'd do that for me, then telling me that inevitably people who shop around call a few shops and then give up at the second place and take whatever deal that dealership is offering. At this point I tell him that I get it but I simply won't make a decision without calling a few places but I'm willing to up the downpayment and have a deadline of say noon or even 10 am to show that I'm serious but also to not impede their sales potential. Long story short, he was curt and abrasive the entire conversation, and effectively refused to work with me stating over and over that they will sell the car and that I can roll the dice but he won't work with me. I've called several dealerships, two of them offered to match the exact same offer and actually treated me like they wanted my business so they will be the ones getting my business for this Camry and the RX350 I'm planning to buy this fall. They also didn't sell any of the 3 Camry's they had on the lot even with an end of month rush. More
Two months ago I took my car to this dealer for a tune-up and full service asking for all fluids to be checked and serviced, and I paid almost $1,000. My car broke down today and I was shocked to learn tha and full service asking for all fluids to be checked and serviced, and I paid almost $1,000. My car broke down today and I was shocked to learn that the engine oil is practically gone. I called the dealer because my car normally needs an oil change every 10,000 miles, not 1,000 miles. Danial (service manager at Karl Malone Toyota) sought to blame the owner for not changing the oil in the last service. He became defensive, tried to shift the responsibility for their mistake by playing a blaming game. He knows darn well that I paid big money for his dealership to do the tuneup, change all the parts, and check my car thoroughly to extend the life of the car. Daniel asked me to tow my car to the dealership, and again, refused to pay for towing cost. They checked my car, and changed the oil, and charged me $82 to change the darn oil that only cost around $55 at Toyota Bountiful. The thing that made me angrier is the way I was treated by Daniel and Scott in the service department. I want to let all of you know, so you won't fall into their trap as I did. Go someplace else to buy your next car, go someplace else to get your car serviced. I don't care if I have to drive to Provo or Ogden to get my next Toyota even though I live 15 minutes away from this dealership. When I picked up my car, it's was not washed and very dirty. They did not sanitize my car either. This dealership is very bad and unprofessional. Also, the finance manager at this dealership is pretty mean and rude, and he will treat you like crap if you disagree with him. More
Do not deal with this xxx toyota dealer. Scott lunged at me to cause bodily harm because I wrote a non-satisfied review previously. Nathan Parker had to hold him back. It is sad because they all sided with me to cause bodily harm because I wrote a non-satisfied review previously. Nathan Parker had to hold him back. It is sad because they all sided with this xxx Scott. He needs to be fired. I sure hope this gets back to Karl Malone. We will not step into this dealership ever again. So unprofessional. It is sad because I have dealt with Blenda and Nathan for years. I have bought so many vehicles there for my family. I now have sold my Toyota Tundra and have bought a Chevy. These people have no clue on how to be by your side in customer service. It is so sad. Even their PR chick turned out to be a total B?.':! DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS DEALERSHIP. THERE ARE OTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS THAT CARE FOR YOU UNLIKE THIS ONE. More
