Terrible place that I will never go back to. I saw all the positive reviews which factored into my wife and I traveling long distance to go to Jeff D'Ambrosio VW. My wife and I had a terrible experience and do not think of this dealership as an honorable place even in the car dealer spectrum of rating. We drove 3.5 hours to go there. Prior to arriving, i made sure that every single open issue was resolved from pricing, to certified check to exact amount and had all my questions covered. Even called in the morning before leaving to let them know we are coming from a distance and ensure all is in order. We were assured it was fine. We inquired about out of state license plates and registration prior to leaving and again were told it will all be taken care of for us and plates will be mailed to us and dealership will take care of everything for the $420 documentation fee. Kept in the dealership another 3+ hours even as we had submitted all documentation prior to arriving. When we were signing the contract, I noticed anomalies in the pricing and that we weren't getting charged tax. They had said nothing about this until I brought it up. Upon probing, the GM told us that dealership will not do any of the plates , registration, taxes and we would have to do that by going to the DMV in our state. We were being charged $420 for a service, dealership said they would do it and then at time of signature, we find out that they expect us as a customer to go to DMV in our state to do all the work of paying taxes and applying for a registration and title. This is for outright cash purchase of a new car. When we questioned further as we were shocked, GM indicated that their dealership as a new policy will only do motorvehicle work for financing customers but not for those that buy the car on cash. As bad as this policy is, I would simply expect honest transparency so that one can make an informed decision. In our case, we would have passed on the offer if dealer told us that we would have to be responsbile for DMV work after buying a new car. The small savings wouldnt be worth the trouble. Dealership wouldn't do anything even as they acknowledged their error and their lack of being upfront about it. They didnt even mention it until I caught it during paper work review. They were charging us $420 for documentation fees which is fine yet weren't doing the work for us. They offered us a small change for our troubles but my wife and I were so disgusted that we decided to leave the dealership and would rather pay more elsewhere than patronize such an establishment. I told the GM (Jas) that if I was the owner of this place which is huge and presumably quite successful, I would have made an exception to their self imposed policy as it was their error and they shouldn't hurt their customer in such a negative manner. He wouldn't do anything. This could all have been avoided by being honest and diligent before a customer is treated this poorly. My wife and I spent 7 hours on the road roundtrip and walked away without the car and yet felt good that we did the right thing. We will pay more locally and not reward this dealership with our business. Regrettably, in this climate, the dealers aren't hurting for business based on the premium pricing but based on our experience with D'Ambrosio Auto Group, we will never ever trust another long distance car dealer as they destryed the little faith we had in people doing the right thing. I'm posting so others can see our experience. Shame on you Jeff D'Ambrosio and Jas as you could have done the right thing but you didnt care. More
