We went into Jay Honda to purchase our 8th Honda on 5-18-13, although not all purchased at Jay Honda. We are a Honda family and absolutely love Honda cars. We met Michael Schaefer and test drove the Honda Fit Sport, and decided this was the car we wanted to purchase. Mr. Schaefer sat down with us to discuss the deal, said we needed to leave a $500 check to hold the deal and it would NOT be cashed, and would be returned to us when we picked up our car. We left there extremely happy and pleased with Mr. Schaefer, at this point of our deal. On Weds., 5-22-13, Mr. Schaefer called to say our car was in and did I want to pick it up today or tomorrow? I said, yes I want to pick it up today, and then he told me No, tomorrow would be better since they were open later and I needed to sit down with Finance. This did not make sense, since we had done our financing with our credit union, but I said ok. We were disappointed to wait until Thursday for our new car. Thursday, 5-23-13 we received a letter that our bank account needed our attention, Jay Honda cashed the $500.00 check and put our account in a negative balance. For every charge on our account, the bank assessed a $36.00 overdraft fee. We made 16 purchases/charges since 5-20-13 when Jay Honda cashed our check. We took up our printed out bank account to show to Mr. Schaefer and found out this was his error. He took us to finance where we met Mr. Xavier Pepple. Our bank account statement at this point only shows 6 overdraft fees ,because that is all that has been posted by the bank at this point. So, we wanted Jay Honda to return our $500 from the original check and pay the bank fees that will total $566.00. Mr. Pepple informs us that they will give us our $500.00 back, but they were only willing to pay back 6 overdraft charges at $36.00. We explained to Mr Pepple that these were not going to be the only overdraft charges charged to us, but because they were not showing up yet, he said they will not pay them. My husband asked if we come back tomorrow with the other charges, you will not pay those and he said NO. So, the only way to close the deal and get our car that we wanted was to sign off and say we accept the $216.00 for our overdraft charges. Then we find out we don't even get the money right there, but have to wait 10 days for the check! Unbelievable!! To make matters even worse, Mr. Schaefer takes us to our car and shows us some features. He never apologizes for his error and all the trouble he has caused with our finances, or even bothers to stick around to say Thank You for buying your car from us. We were getting more information about our new Honda Fit from Jeff Wells. Thank You to Mr. Wells for fixing the locks before we drove our Honda home. Mr. Schaefer would show up, see Mr. Wells working with us and literally ran away because he was working with another customer. Terrible!!! Finally, waiting with Mr. Wells, we said we are leaving and you can tell Mr. Schaefer we left! So, it is supposed to be a happy time when you buy a new car and it was definitely not for us! We not only have a new car loan, we are out other money that was never intended to be spent! It is a holiday weekend, and we have to be worried about our money being eaten up by fees because of their mistake! Mr. Pepples told us to contact our bank to see if they would waive the fees because they weren't going to be able to help us anymore. So Disappointed in the service at Jay Honda in Bedford, and you better believe that they will not be getting our business again! Never have we been treated this poorly! I hope all customers get it in writing that their checks will not be cashed when a sales person promises it will not! Jay Honda should be ashamed and held accountable for their actions. Mr. Santone took us out to the vehicle we were going to test drive and gave us a detailed explanation of the features of the vehicle. This was extremely helpful as the vehicle came with features we have never had before. Following the test drive we negotiated the price of the vehicle, which was very straightforward and done in a non-pressuring manner. During this process Mr. Santone laid to rest any reservations I had about purchasing the vehicle, and we had a deal! I was pleasantly surprised how smooth and easy this transaction took. I would highly recommend Mr. Santone and Jay Honda to anyone. More
I have given Honda such a high rate is because this is a great dealer. I am a repeat customer I have now gotten 3 vehicles form here. They are very friendly and helpful. During this last purchase the entire team from Tony and Rob to Patsy in finance they truly worked a miracle. My credit was not great but they got me my new Civic. My Husband and I had read a lot of reviews about the Honda Fit and since we were in the market for a new car we decided to go to the Auto mile and test drive some cars. Michael Schaefer greeted us promptly and showed us the Honda Fit, right from the start he was very laid back and friendly, he was able to answer all our questions about the car and show us all the features it had available.He let us test drive the car, by ourselves, which my husband and I appreciated. It put me at ease, seeing as every time I test drive a car I feel like the sales person riding along and "selling" the car by talking it up always makes it harder to really enjoy the test drive and really get a feel for the car.Once we got back from the test drive Mr.Schaefer met with my husband and they talked about options for the car, my husband still wanted to look around at other cars, even though I was pretty much set on getting the Fit. We test drove a few other cars from other dealerships and came to the conclusion that none of the other cars we looked at measured up to what we liked about the Honda Fit. We went back to Honda of Bedford the same day and met with Mr.Shaefer and started the process of getting the car. My car came in in about two days later and we picked it up on Saturday, we brought our little girl with us and Mr.Shaefer was friendly and kind to her,and shook her hand, which she is still talking about how 'nice the car man was'. Once we were all set to go, Mr. Shaefer showed me and our little girl the car, he even put her car seat into the new car which I was deeply touched by, and appreciated greatly! I do have to say it's little things like being kind to a small child and helping out the family that really makes me want to come back to a dealership for my next car. The whole experience was easy for the whole family, and we felt that everyone at Honda of Bedford was kind and really down to earth people and that they gave us wonderful customer service. I will can honestly say that I will be recommending them to family and friends and that I will be buying Honda from now on! More
