I wanted to take a few minutes to address some of the issues that you had regarding your recent experience with James Motor Company. After speaking with David Dunn it has come to my attention that most of the conversations regarding the CPO ML350 that you were interested in took place via telephone conversations between Mr. Dunn and your wife. During these phone conversations Mr. Dunn did notify your wife that the vehicle had 26,950 miles on the odometer and not the 24,500 miles it was originally listed with, which your wife did confirm during the process. This additional mileage was due to the vehicle being used for test drives and as a demonstration vehicle.

In regards to the condition of the ML350 in question, I can only explain that this vehicle is a pre-owned vehicle, and like all pre-owned vehicles, might have some incidental wear and tear. At James Motor Company we pride ourselves on the quality of our products, and we also price them accordingly. This particular ML350 was the lowest priced ML350 in a 250 mile range of our facility, and was listed several thousand dollars below book and market value. In reference to the tire wear on the vehicle, our CPO technicians had inspected the tires and found them to be in compliance with Mercedes-Benz CPO standards.

I would also like to explain our side of the financing situation regarding your possible transaction. James Motor Company has a long standing corporate policy regarding out of state purchases. We will only accept a wire transfer, cash, or a finance contract with one of our approved lenders. We have these policies in place to protect our company from fraudulent transactions. This policy was explained to you before you ever came to visit our establishment. Having been given this information, you still chose to proceed forward with the transaction knowing full well our company policy. In order to try and facilitate the transaction for you, we presented you with finance options that were actually more beneficial to you than the offering of your credit union. We matched the offered finance rate, had absolutely no backend reserve monies involved, and Mercedes-Benz finance was even offering a 2 payment waiver ($1200) towards the ML. This was not a “deferred payment”, rather a true $1200 waived off of the finance terms. I am not sure why your contact at the credit union would state that we were engaging in questionable business practices, but I would be happy to speak with your contact that stated as much. As any credit union would require you to personally sign financial documents in the presence of a company officer to avoid a fraudulent transaction, James Motor Company also sets policies and practices to protect our consumers and owners best interests.

Again, all of the points of complaint regarding the mileage and financial options towards purchase were fully explained to you prior to your visit to our facility. After being presented with this information, you still made the conscious decision to drive 2 hours to our facility. At James Motor Company we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and conducting business with integrity and a strong ethical code.
