Miserable Experience A used 2016 Volvo XC60 was advertised with certain packages and the ad indicated the advertised price included the dealership's Administrative Fee. T A used 2016 Volvo XC60 was advertised with certain packages and the ad indicated the advertised price included the dealership's Administrative Fee. This fee, which the salesman indicated is "required" is really nothing more than a ploy to get more money from the buyer. In this case the salesman agreed to deduct the admin fee as a part of the negotiated price, but I came to find out he first added it onto the purchase worksheet and then subtracted it back off (Hmm). Additionally, an advertised option package worth over $2,000 wasn't actually on the vehicle. When I pointed both of these issues out the Manager said guess they made a mistake in the ad and they would not adjust the purchase price. Oh, and the salesman also indicated the vehicle was a "Factory Demonstrator", but the carfax shows that it was owned by an individual and purchased by the dealership at auction. Last but not least is the "Finance Guy" - can't wait till you meet him. Everyone gets funneled through finance at this dealership as one final attempt at fleecing the buyer. He insisted on aggressively pushing not one, not two but five separate extended warranty arrangements and then tries to make you feel stupid if you don't fall for this old swindle. What a miserable buying experience (we ended up not buying the car). Bottom line, there are a lot better places to buy a vehicle! More
terrible attempted car buying I was in the market for a new Volvo XC60. I visited the dealership to test drive the car. My sales guy was friendly but did not know anything about I was in the market for a new Volvo XC60. I visited the dealership to test drive the car. My sales guy was friendly but did not know anything about the car. I had to go home and look up a majority of my questions on the volvo website. Doing a test drive with him was definitely a waste of time. I returned to the dealership ready to purchase a new XC60 with a USAA savings certificate. All dealers that participate in the USAA savings program are required to honor the price (which is based on the true car value). This dealership did not want to honor that price. I had to negotiate them down to it and then they had all kinds of hidden fees. They refused to negotiate further. I called multiple other dealerships in the state and had a better experience with every single one of them. I purchased the car in Greenville the following day for $5000 less than Volvo of Charleston would agree to. Greenville was also able to offer me better financing than Volvo of Charleston even though both do their financing through Volvo Financial. I would never recommend anyone visit this dealership. It would be a complete waste of time to do so. Usually customer service is great when you are trying to purchase a car and this was not the case at all. I am very nervous to bring my car in for a servicing. I will likely drive to Myrtle Beach to avoid any further dealings with this dealership. I also find it interesting that there are only 3 reviews on this site when most car dealerships have over a hundred. They obviously do not pass out a flyer to rate them on dealer rater because they know they will have bad reviews More
My wife and I was just going into this dealership to look, because we were in town visiting my son. My wife knew she wanted to purchase a XC 60, because of the maintenance program (5 years/50K). She did look, because we were in town visiting my son. My wife knew she wanted to purchase a XC 60, because of the maintenance program (5 years/50K). She didn't want to make payments and have repair bills for maintenance. There wasn't a pressure sales pitch, but after seeing the price of the vehicle, we were able to purchase a R-Design instead of a base model vehicle! We were pleased and the sales staff and everyone at Volvo of Charleston was fanstatic!! This was the best purchasing experience ever and before this, I would rather have a root canal, instead of trying to make a deal on a car!! More

Took vehicle in told them there was a VERY LOUD noise at engine when running. Their technician said not engine it was bad alternator. Cost $856. Drove 4 miles engine died. AAA towed to nearby garage who det engine when running. Their technician said not engine it was bad alternator. Cost $856. Drove 4 miles engine died. AAA towed to nearby garage who determined that old alternator was good (husband was going to have rebuilt for spare so I kept it) and that the noise was really tensioner on motor timing belt going bad. Resulting in damaged motor- had rework head, timing belt, waterpump, valves, etc. Volvo repair cost $4500. A lot of the damage could have been avoided if the technician diagnosis had been correct. Volvo of Charleston accepted no responsibility for misdiagnosis. If there had been a correct diagnosis, could have changed out tensioner and any other worn parts before major engine problems. I have owned many Volvo vehicles - husband drives a 850-GLT with 225,000 mi daily and we have an S60 sedan. I have experience with different dealers Melbourne (FL) Volvo, Weaver Brothers Volvo, Raleigh, NC, Volvo of Cary (NC), Rahal Volvo, (PA). This dealer has only mediocre service compared to others. More
